Thanks Antbar. I was trying to avoid leaving the iPhone. I often find it easier to write melodies away from the computer. A 2track version of voice memo on the iPhone would be great. Even if I had to sing on top of the original vocal it would be a quick way to save new top line ideas without getting into a DAW.

I’m guessing that more than 70% of the members here use the native voice memo app on their iPhone. I use it a lot when I am sitting at the piano writing, or with an acoustic guitar. I would love to be able to go back and write a new top line over what I sang. Does anyone have a work hack for that? I looked up two track recorders for the iPhone and went down a worm hole. Lol

The amount of musical talent that exists throughout our world is insane and often underestimated. It’s a force that exists in communities everywhere and I suspect its power is less understood than our oceans.

Really cool idea. Definitely targets a more engaged fan from a time commitment standpoint as versus passively listening but that’s probably the best way to build your base in today’s market, especially if you subscribe to the “1000 True Fan” theory.

Without considering the name of the transformer, the second example “button out” strikes me stylistically as more vintage sounding in relation to Neve topologies. Meaning the vintage Neves always seemed to have a less modern sounding top end in comparison to the AMS Neve stuff. A similar relationship exists between the vintage Neumanns and their new stuff.

Who is Joey Barnes? My God how can you have a voice like that and never break through? I think he was Chris Daughtry’s drummer at one time.

Hey guys
I've been on the hunt since pre-covid and it's just so sketchy out there in the used market. I'm willing to pay for a great condition U67 if anyone here is thinking about cashing out.

Vintage U87. So many great records from the 70s made with this mic. It was a go to for vocals on so many hit records, Jackson Browne, James Taylor etc, it's funny how overlooked it is for that today.

+1 for Trillian. A lot of useable bass sounds, although I bought it for this patch from Charlie Puth’s “Attention”

Musicians are the most exploited class. From having no real ownership over their own intellectual property to be scammed by managers and so called performing rights organizations. At some point the script will flip and some rich guy will lead a once splintered army of individual artists against the machine and choke the corporate class dry of the "product" they need to maintain their trafficking businesses.

LOL. That's Blue the venue dog. Keeps the bands happy so they don't need so much Jameson.

I had Home Depot rip maple veneered plywood for me. Then I used finishing nails to shoot them to the wall over a layer of black spray mounted felt.

I think I remember reading about him. A young guy living in LA trying to make it in the music industry, buying gear like everybody. And he started just grabbing some collectible things on Reverb like vintage Neve preamps that eventually always sell and sitting on them until they eventually sold at a premium. He beat me out on a bunch of them. I think the estate thing came more recently.

This is the impact of the internet. It has put "segmentation" on steroids. People who only want to hear about CB radios can "tune-in" to only discourse about CB radios. The same forces are at work with politics and other areas of interest like music. If you identify with an influencer who is a cute southern girl who loves God, trucks, and beer you can tune into that person and that segment of folks and find more than just the music of interest. My guess is that there's a bunch of her peers who like her fashion style and other "interests" as much as her music. It's the mass tribalization of society. Potentially good and clearly potentially bad. She reminds me of a female Kid Rock.

I still don't understand why someone can take your intellectual property and sell it for their own gain and give you some bogus royalty. I would love to start selling all of Adobe's products and just send them a royalty similar to the music business.

Surround sound was cool in the day when the world was rich and bored and there was extra bandwidth for nonsense. Now people are dying around us and corporations are obliterating the creative class. Fuck Avid and anyone else who isn't here to fight for helping funnel the voice of the people through our sons and daughters. We need a thousand voices heard from Appalachia to Albany. Music is not about enriching corporations, it's about expressing the collective sentiment and emotion of our time. Woodstock was a sonic statement about Vietnam and the 60s, today we face a far more consequential reality. Any company that isn't in step with the ethos of our creative class doesn't deserve a single dollar from any one of us. We have a duty as Engineers and Producers to drive and protect the content of our Artists to the world at large. Who knows where the next Bob Dylan will come from? But it won't come from Spotify. It will come from one of us and our commitment to some stranger down the street who has little to no money but a voice and a message for a generation.

I didn't read everyone's response so sorry if I'm out of key, but the Pauly pop filters have been the best I've owned and well worth the price tag. Super well built and the most transparent of anything I've used which is a large sample size.

Kids don't even care about music today. It's a supporting element of the true star - social media, TikTok and the almighty dollar. No one is going to come to the rescue of writers, certainly not on principle anymore than someone is going to come to the rescue of Ukraine. I never thought I would see things fall apart this bad in my lifetime. They knew alcohol would destroy the native Americans and they knew greed, and the internet would dehumanize the rest of us. The copyright act is nothing short of economic apartheid. Royalties should no longer be an option. Want to use someone else's intellectual property? Pay for it, just like you do Adobe.

I'm tempted to sell my original Teletronix LA2A with prices north of $15k but I actually love the unit and its pedigree.
