Thanks big time to all involved; so informative . I have a mix to start and I've been putting it off, dialled up RGO, found this and the importance of feeling where it has to go rather than getting bogged down intellectual about it. The released mix took "maybe a couple of hours". - What?! My takeaway is trust myself ;it's not as difficult as I keep making it. Also , I love real desks. Cheers for this Josh

It sits in that pantheon of "complete" records - think Dark side of the moon, Yellow brick road etc. Wonderfully mixed by Bob Clearmountain.

If Klaus' review doesn't ease concerns, well what will. Thank god I simply don't have anywhere near the money or temptation would weigh heavy. Cheers, Ross

A good player, a good Strat and a 10" Princeton on a smallish country / folk / rock gig was heaven for me to mix. It felt Right

I have had the 305's for a few years - reliable and on the surface sound good. I cant say a heck of a lot more as my room which is my converted lounge has so many peaks and dips that it stops me having a definitive assessment of them. On the day i bought them , I'd heard Hedd, Focal ; and Genelec Ones, ATC 25s and Adams in the recent past. Not saying they are definitely in the same league or better , just saying they floated my boat on price/performance enough to purchase. The larger 307s are impressive but too "full' in the bottom for mine particularly given the acoustic stuff I'm mostly involved with and the foibles of my room. Hope that helps a little.

IME, if your room is small with obvious node points then no amount of money spent on the speaker is going to fix your bottom end bricknine9. As much as you probably don't wish to hear it, some pro help with reference to your room dimensions is really the way to go. If the headphones help with the bottom, then again IME, you'll find yourself gravitating to them much more than the speakers which kind of defeats the purpose of spending large on the speakers; you could stay with the Adams for now. The pricey speakers could well p... you off with the room even more. ( I bought the focal Clear pro cans for exactly your reason - anybody like to buy them off me at a great price? - I've spent in the wrong area!)
Just my $.02

Great to hear your thoughts Wiz; when I buy a new computer I will change to some DAW away from Protools and am interested in luna , sadly i'd have to buy an Apollo of some description which is money I'm not keen to shell out particularly as i have a Prism Titan. Decisions, decisions Cheers, Ross

FWIW, if I want something to look aged I'll hang onto it for 50 years; I feel the same way about instruments so would never buy a distressed finish. (ironically I have a 63 Precision which has just had a re-spray for a 2nd time , also 3rd bridge and 3rd set of tuners (Gotoh reverse wind( due to playing several nights a week for aeons.) My first and probably last post on this: it will never happen that a pedal without the physical coupling of a speaker to air will sound exactly the same. However, JK you own them, they are a lot of dosh. If they hadn't worked well enough for you, you wouldn't have spent that hard earned. "Well enough" being the operative words and of course no one's forcing anyone and it's that beautiful thing called personal preference. Cheers, Ross

A quick note to say apple have just announced a new 13" Air and 13" Pro with what they call an M2 chip . The big news for me is that they are capable of 24 gigs of ram. The CPU according to them is 18% faster than M1 also Cheers, Ross

The polarity thing happens a lot and I'm not sure if there's a right or wrong as my Stam 87 , Beesneez Arabella and Gefell CMV 563 are all reverse polarity to what conventionally is considered correct . Who knows? Cheers, Ross

Shouldn't be like that and I'm sorry I have no answers . You should be able to mix your whole song to a stereo mix track and drop in if there are parts of that mix you are unhappy with ( an example of how accurate it should be). Get on the DUC and ask there as there is an issue you don't want to live with. Cheers, Ross
