Well I took the plunge and bought aFocusrite Clarrett 4pre. Great quality. Running on an iMac so I updated to 10.12.4 to fix any issues. But the actual Focusrite Unit is making a clicking sound like there is an internal hard drive clicking. Not too sure what that is about but it is not normal? Audio records fine though. Actual I think it might be an internal fan and the unit runs hot. Probably a return unit is in order.

Sit down for this. IK iLoud Micro Monitors. With 10% off special i really needed something portable and reasonable without breaking the bank and Bluetooth. Am i happy with them?? So far over the Moon. Can even hear the reverb tails of that trip over the Moon.

Dont forget the PM5 is just a C5 with a ball on the end. Great mic on axis but starts to get coloured off axis. Beyer mc930's tend to stau true to the sound on and off axis just likea km84. I love beyer mc930's . They are very clear no veil to the sound.

hey there brains trust. i bought some waves plug ins April 2017 as they were on sale and i wanted to try them. i was just on the waves site loking at a few more and i stumbled on the Wave Update Plan where it listed my plug ins were runnnig out on April 2018. Does this mean i only bought them for a year's use? I am not on any monthly or yearly subscription deal as i was not interested in that. So what happens after April 2018 does my waves plug ins cease to work ? Cheers for anyone who knows something.

Can we get a "pop the hood" picture? That would be awesome. and i did not mind the Lindell 17xs or the 18xs products. I thought they were good value product for what they did for me.

So do you know what bass shelf is going to be set at? And do you think you will go with a fixed hz or will the bass be selectable frequencies inthe roll off?

I own both the royer r101 and the stager. Tey are very different sounding mics grom each other. I didnt think think the royer sounded anywhere near as good on vocals as the stager SR2n. If that was your intended purpose for them.

STA LEVEL does not bounce but i tell you what bounces - diamonds bounce. Those suckers bounce and and can go anywhere you have to handle them real carfeul. Dropped and lost a few of themover the years luckily they were only small ones.

Yep Rob used opa2134 according to invoice. I am yet to use it as the VU bezel mounting broke in freight so waiting for replacement part to arrive. Probably a good question to shoot to Rob why he chooses that one over the other one.

Wiz - Do you want me to send pics of my rca 44bx? Actually i coud send you something to borrow for a little while that is dam close to a rca 44 and would be a nice combo vocal with this ribbon and your u87 together. Let me know if your interested, would be no trouble.

I think i have about 4 x ish spare tubes for my older model Bock 251. I have a range from Bowie's suggestions and that all impart just a tad little difference. Let me know if you need one. Cheers

I did enjoy the Great River as well. I keep coming back to Neve inspired preamps as being my favourite.

Yep 2nd ef86 tube I have replaced in my a designs mp1 preamp. I too have read about ef86 problems but they are not expensive to replace. Going through 2 of these in the last 7 x years is not that bad.

I have not used an AEA 44 to compare against the Cloud. So i cant say whether the Cloud is better then the AEA - AREMOS. I do like that you can use the Cloud without any problems of gain being active. I did compare it using the Music mode on the Cloud.

Okay so what preamp are you using with the RCA 44Bx? I was testing a few mics out against specifically the 44bx. I was using a JZ V67, Soyuz, Royer R101 these were the mics close at hand. I wanted see how they sounded in different preamps compared to the 44bx. Just doing some vocals and I found that some tube preamps seemed to sound very nice, the Daking not as nice but still stood up well but the Portico that just sounded brilliant with the 44x and but lost it with the others. So just wondering is there nay magic preamp style that works better with 44bx or have i hot the nail on the head with the Portico? Just another side note, once you get use to that big 44 sound its hard to go back to a condenser of any sort. Take a step back or two and it disappears quickly but the room sound really creeps in fast.
