Went with these. Huge pain trying to maneuver around the gear, get the the panels positioned, and bang them to mark the wall where the screws go, but otherwise went up without a hitch. Hopefully, they're still hanging in the morning. Yeah, you get those rotofast fasteners, take a look at them, and scratch your head. But once you get the hang of them they are-at least in my case- strong and efficient. How many did you use for each panel?

Yeah, I have the 70s stuff....both on vinyl and the hard to come by Wild Child 90s CD master....as well as the modern bliSpec that's more crushed. Side note, she does Love Needs a Heart on the 96 record--Jackson singing harmony. Here you go:

Here's mine: Your choice of outboard gear in the facing racks is just so perfectly selected. I'm hoping to achieve something along those lines. Eventually. Thank you. Some people can have compression in racks far away, but I'd rather have it all within easy reach. I've thought about selling the Bricasti for years, but glad I didn't. I'm beginning to bounce a lot more reverb. The GML 8200 is indispensable for me. I use it almost exclusively on the mix bus. I still don't do a lot of signal processing while I track. Not having a wall between my tracking area and my mix desk makes me hesitant to commit, even though with my patch bay I am all set up to do it.

I am having serious problems with PC based Cubase 8 working with Drumagog 5.21 Platinum. Everything is 64 bit and in the right directories. I periodically get a "Serious Error" from Cubase as I try to instantiate Drumagog . The Drumagog people told me to increase the buffer, but that doesn't help- and the session right now is only 12 audio tracks. I do 40+ tracks with all kinds of plugins and hardware inserts and have no "Serious Error" problems when using any plugins/VST's or hardware inserts with Cubase 8.. So, it's not my system. Cubase 8 and Drumagog just don't seem to like each other.
So, I'm wondering for you people that have Slate Trigger how it is working with your system.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I think their Echo Park sound samples sound much better for guitar.

Thanks for posting these videos of Buckingham and Van Halen, two true master guitar players. One of the awful things that came out of the Grunge era was a condemnation of intricate guitar playing. It would be so cool if there was a revival of young, great rock guitar players. So much rock guitar playing in the post grunge era has been boring. Time to shake things up.

Kudos for him for recognizing Travis. How many people can keep that 8th note bass note going in time while playing with their other fingers? Not many. Great player.

You have to wonder what the next steps for UA as a whole is gonna be. I mean, what direction can you go at this point? Seems to me that they're as integrated a company as any in the music business: Classic hardware/Plugins/Audio Interfaces. Their brand name is up there with Neve. I don't know what their books look like, but I'd be surprised if they're not a very healthy company financially that could expand in other areas. I guess we'll see.

I contacted UAD support about allowing me to try the EMT 140 again and they reset it so I can. Good customer support.

I use UAD plugs every day. Sure - I've made the mistake of buying a few that I never use anymore, but the same goes for lots of different purchases. But the difference is that you can't sell your unwanted UAD plugin purchases. Yeah, that's adding insult to injury as far as I'm concerned. I bought into the idea that the PCIE card would bring better performance, when in fact my UAD plugins crap out before my Waves and Slate one's.

Anybody try both. If so, what was your impression?
The Waves is on sale at Plugin Discounts for $74.24. I demo'd it and liked it, but I've already demo'd the UAD EMT 140. So, I couldn't really do and a/b like I'd like to.
BTW: It would help these company's imo if they would let you re-demo after a period of time. I demo'd both the 140 and 250 about three years ago and bought the 250. So, having demo'd the 140 I can't do it again. I may pull the trigger on the Waves because it's half the price of the UAD.

The good thing about the 1st proposed patchbay is that, by patching your a/d to and from your hardware, you already have your hardware patch cables set up to use for tracking. So, when you want to track to your hardware from your preamp outs to your hardware and from your hardware out to your converter you just reroute one end of each of your two cables. The input and output patch cable to your hardware stays put.

drbill I don't have a console.. I know traditionally the mic goes to the mic lines and the mic lines are tied into the CR with to the console or to a dedicated mic patch bay. . Thanks again. Ok so on normalled! I have asked a few people regarding my proposed patch bay setup and you are the first to mention this feedback loop. Man, I thought I had it 😵😩 I will go do more studying regarding normal/ half normal / no normal / etc. Maybe because I explained myself as I would actually taking the steps to patch this confused others. I have read a few things and went back over my notes and every YouTube vid I have watched has been not in depth enough so imma keep digging. Thanks again for taking the time to write this noob level stuff out unfortunately with the event of PT we maybe spent a week ( 2 classes ) on patch bays and normalling setups.. I had a feedback loop when I put my hardware on my patchbay and then tried using it as an insert in my DAW. To use my hardware for both mixing and tracking I put permanent cable connections between my A/D on one patchbay and my I/O of my hardware on another patchbay. I believe I non normalled the hardware to end the feedback loop, but you'll want to talk to whoever sells you your patchbay to address how you need to set up the normalling so this doesn't happen. Just my $02., but I think it's worth it for you to buy a junction box for your mics and put it on your patchbay. I bought an 8 channel one with a DSUB output that connects to my DSUB patchbay and I have everything arranged like this on two DSUB patchbays: 8 Mics from Junction Box 8 Preamp Input 8 Preamp outputs 8 Converter Ins I can take any mic source and patch it into different preamps to hear how they sound comparatively So, if you have an acoustic guitar and want to hear how it sound on a clean preamp vs. a colored one, you can just patch the mic on the guitar at the patchbay into different preamps, instead of having to change the mic line at the preamp. This makes everything so much easier. More $02: Do not skimp on cost for your patchbays. It's the center of your studio. So, you don't want it messing up. Good ones are not cheap and neither is the cabling. And even if you have a good one, there will be routing problems. I just had a problem that turned out to be a DSUB connector on one of my DSUB cables. I had to check switches on the patchbay and all the input and output cabling before I found the source of the problem. So, even though it can be an immense benefit for routing, when something goes wrong it takes time to troubleshoot and is a hassle. Finally, make sure you put the patchbay in a place that you can easily get to the connectors and the switches. When something goes wrong you want to be able to easily get to those things.

Might be way off, but wonder if it's something to do with optimising mono translation (for DAB etc). I've noticed that a lot of mixers keep all the low end mono too. Dunno ..... Sounds plausible to me. We tend to over-widen anyhow. Yeah, it's strange: There are all these internet threads about wider mixes and the pro one's I reference are narrower than the width from my DAW. I hit my C2 stereo button and boom, there it is.

I am finding that my reference mixes , which I import into Cubase 8 on a stereo channel and output to a different stereo output than my mixes, are narrower than my mixes when I A/B them. So, I'm wondering why. There's no difference between the output channels. So, it's not that. And, the channels use the same pan law. So, it couldn't be that, could it?
I can narrow my mixes to the reference with my Smart C2 on my Mix Bus using the stereo button instead of using it in dual mono. But I don't want to do that if the width difference has to do with something within the DAW's settings. So, if it could be something in the DAW causing this, I'd like to know.
Thanks to anybody who can provide insight/information!

I tend to push brightness in my mixes, so a brighter speaker helps keep me from pushing too far. I am always cutting in the 2-5K range. I wonder if it's the speakers or mixing through converters....or both. I just can't stand anything harsh in that range and I find a lot of sources- vocals/acoustic guitars/electric guitars where I'm cutting..

Just bought a pair of Sennheiser HD 600 headphones. FWIW: I like them better for checking mixes than the Focal Spirit Pro's I bought last year. When I go from my Adam A7X's to the Sennheiser's, I don't feel like I'm stepping into a different mix. You can get a nice synergy like that sometimes; I use Grado PS 500s and Amphion one 15s - good combo. Cheers, Ross Yeah, it would be cool if there was a service/website that matched up headphones and speakers so that people would have a good transition from speaker to headphones. Glad you found yours too.
