I believe Geoff was with Neve in the halcyon days and has taken that knowledge and furthered it in the Aurora gear. I have no first hand knowledge but whenever I've seen him post it seems well considered with obvious Knowledege. Cheers, Ross (quarantinned for at least a month in my native New Zealand)

As is our wont we obsess over the smalls ( that’s our job for sure) but does the sound serve the song ? - yes it does; most of which is down to Wiz but there’s enough there that tells me the X series ( probably with Luna after its bed down period) is a goer. Yet (and I know this is a very quick recording and mix Wiz so I am a little loath to comment but we are friends here right.?)😁, I would say further work on the Vox ambience could perhaps give the song that extra “thing”. Thanks mate. Cheers, Ross
P.S. in a time of Corona there may well be a lot of music made ( silver linings etc).

Very clean Wiz, nice balance and honest delivery; sounds like the X series is easily up to the mark. Thanks for baring and sharing ; a similar set up will be my next move I reckon. Cheers, Ross

I reckon it will really shake the tree if it's easy to use and much like tracking to tape in its functionality . My next gear change will probably revolve around a 16" MBP , some form of Apollo with Luna; tracking with my Prism Titan hooked via Adat into Apollo. The beautifully steadfast MH ULN 2 might have to take a well earned rest . Hopefully everything keeps running long enough to allow a well considered decision. Cheers ,Eoss

Yep, the humble tambourine - a mash of killer transients and complex waveforms. Looking to get the true size of the instrument as it sounds when playing it and as heard in some 60s records etc ; - nope it's small , thin and the hit on the palm is so much louder than the general sound.
I 've tried condensers, SM7, and the best so far is the Joly modded Apex 205 (thanks Dr Bill). To reduce the palm hit , i'm holding a foam pad which makes a difference, also tried the mic at distances from 6" to 6 ' Also moved into all corners of the room and other rooms as well including bathroom and toilet.
What has worked well for you guys?
Cheers, Ross

Does your wife know about Margaret?🙃
Nothing to add cable wise, if it feels like it's better, leave it in ; other than that, get a second person to assist in blind tests. Cheers, Ross

If we're talking (early) 80s, Avalon has to be an example of the highest standards in all areas. Cheers, Ross

I love the fact that in 2020, us jaded types are part of this massive vibe/hype/whatever. Will be interesting to chart reactions tomorrow. The "it doesnt do this/they should have done this" brigade will no doubt be wearing their mice out! ; personally, i hope they do really well in the face of difficult times because whatever anyone's issues with UA, they of all companies by and large continue to command respect as evidenced by the size of interest in this. I mean, god save us if "copy others" Behringer was all there is.

Much bigger anticipation than kids at Xmas, nice work UAD . Interesting how of all companies, they are able to engender that hope of something really special. And no, forget tape - barely made anymore and so niche in application. Cheers, Ross

Don't really want to reopen this can of worms but it's relevant; if we're prepared to fete and buy " Klark Teknik " / "Midas" etc these days then we are going to have to accept companies like SSL doing this to survive, sadly. Cheers, Ross

Price wise, it's a very cheap bit of gear which may be helped in its price by using that external supply. FWIW I've never had proprietary wall warts fail but definitely generics have failed .
My question is , will they bring out new TB3 " pro models" (at higher prices) as this must surely have corners cut to come in at this price . Not saying it's bad , just saying id want something which competes soundwise with the.best. I see it as being pitched at musicians rather than audio engineers if you know what I mean.
Cheers, Ross

Any body got any thoughts on these - seem to be a good option once the OS is bedded in and deemed reliable. Just the drama with UAD Satellite using F/W etc , etc as they only have 4 TB3 Keen to hear what you reckon as I'm still using an ultra reliable 17" from 2010 but time is ticking.. Cheers, Ross

I wish to say this and in saying it I also respect everybody's right to have a point of view .
To anyone thinking about these sites, don't be dissuaded by what may appear to be a prevailing wisdom re any of these sites. I'm no novice at this game but admittedly haven't worked at big studios however my Puremix pro sub has helped fill many gaps and thus has been well and truly worth it.
People such as Fab Dupont, Andrew Scheps, Ryann Hewitt etc are intelligent good people with great ears and absolutely valid and useful P.O.Vs. who take the time to share their way of working without obvious fear of giving away their "secrets." Amazing stuff IMO.- such a resource available to us in the comfort of our own home!
Not sure why their nous could not be at least some use to most of us and a lot of use to many, particularly those not working in pro environments.
Not wanting to start a ruckus cause it is only my opinion after all, just encouraging anyone to check out the free vids first, form their own thoughts based on experience.
Cheers, Ross

Check the free stuff before you commit, but IMO if you can't get your money's worth you are either incredibly advanced in the art, or you're not concentrating ; or you value money not far below family/breathing/enlightenment.😆🙃 Cheers, Ross
