Well, I finally caved. Mac Studio Max base model, with 64Gb RAM and 2 TB disk upgrades, coming my way at the end of July. Leaving the Windows world. For now... Unless something terrible happens with the longevity of Apple's components, I'd imagine these should last a long time. Less heat should aid the longevity. And I think it'll be a while before software development exceeds what these things can handle. This was my reasoning as well. Hopefully our predictions are correct.

I had the MSP7s and a Yamaha sub years ago. They're ok, but in my experience, they pretty up the sound too much. A lot of information is hidden. I went from them to Focal SM9s and the difference was huge. Mixes I had done on the MSP7s suddenly sounded completely different, and full of obvious mistakes.
That said, going from SM9s to ATC 100s was quite the revelation as well. As always, you get what you pay for.
Disclaimer: I'm not saying the Yamaha are bad monitors. For the price, they're really good. But it might take you a few more revisions to get to the end result.

Shure Beta 91 inside (suspended in a Kelly Shu Flatz holder), Neumann Fet47 on the outside, Evans EQ dampening pad, no port hole.

This is a music studio. It should smell be PCB resin, hot electronics, coffee, and dust.
HARD pass.

I ordered a M1 ultra - no need to even think about anything "better" for at LEAST 5 years. Why wait?
I can't speak for anyone else, but for me, the price. For my use, which is squarely in audio recording and production, the Max processor with the souped up GPU (in comparison to the Pro) is total overkill, even in 5 years. And it increases the price drastically.
You might think it is worth it. I don't.

Could be the opamps. I can't recall offhand how many are in the SB but that's probably it. Edit: you have an opamp that is bad + 1 on this. After checking all cables and bypassing all other units, try switching the op amps around to see if the problem follows.

I’m running 3 X Lynx Auroras (old model) and 3 X UA Satellites via TB on a Windows 64-bit system. It has been stable for the past 4 years.
The only thing that’ll cause issues, is turning off the converters before the computer. Then I get the sweet, sweet BSOD.

Checked out his previous albums as well, and loving every song so far!
Finding new artists that excites me is getting more and more difficult. This guy hit all the right buttons.

OK, I have no idea what you guys are talking about. I think these drum recordings sound exactly what they are. Old Ludwigs played by a great drummer. They sound far from over produced to me. But I guess that's a moot point. Everyone's got an opinion.

Definitely go for the RND 5059. The 8816 sounds great, but the build quality is bad. Do a search on the Purple Site. A lot of problems with it. Mine had the shifting stereo image problem. It was brand new, and was sent back to AMS Neve for repairs. Came back the same. Never had any luck getting it fixed.
Now I've got the CAPI SumBus, and couldn't be happier.

1176 and a STA-Level. In my experience, that should cover about 95% of your compressor needs in a tracking situation. Wow we’re all so different. If i walked in a place and that’s all they had, I’d probably skip tracking compression. I'm intrigued. What would your preferred ones be?

Years ago, I accidentally disengaged the left channel on my Avocet at the very start of a session. I, rather stressed and embarrassed, ran the rest of the session (three days) in mono, before handing it over to my tech friend next door. He spent WAY too many hours going through everything, getting more and more frustrated. He obviously couldn't find anything wrong with it, and gave me a very telling look, when we finally discovered the reason.
He still brings it up. Whenever he can.

My opinion is obviously biased, since I have the Soyuz ones. But after hearing the comparisons, I am very happy I went with them.

Bass through UA Solo 610 and out to Ampeg B15. Or a guitar amp, depending on the end goal.
