I've had a 70kg. console on this desk, without any issues.
If you're worried about it collapsing, replace the table top with something sturdier. The legs are fine.

How great wouldn't it be if this was the catalyst for a shitload of producers, audio engineers and artists getting so pissed off, they downright refuse to bow down to Apple and the spawn of Satan that is Spotify. Instead, release stuff on Bandcamp, Soundcloud and stereo-friendly streaming services only. Creating a new punk'ish movement, if you will.
Please, let me have this fantasy. No need to point out the glaring holes in my utopian vision.

If all I wanted was a summing box with level and panning, I would get jsteiger 's CAPI sum box. Which is an incredible unit. Edit: but doesn't have leveling (did he ever release the unit with faders?) There's no level adjustment in the unit. And there's no panning either, per se. Other than hard L and R. Which is something I am starting to feel is a problem. Calibrating the channels in both respects needs to be done in the daw. I wish the unit itself had pots for this.
Don't get me wrong, though. I do absolutely LOVE my unit.

Emagic Audiowerk 2, running Logic for Windows. At the time('99) I did not have the money to spring for a Digi 001.
Simpler times...

I have 3 of the old type Lynx Aurora. I see no reason to replace them anytime soon. I'll happily add more of them to my setup, should I need more I/Os.

Redco's patchbays are $599. I've been really happy with them.

This is the setup I use. This particular one has the old mini-XLR, though, so the hole is not as big.
I forgot to mention I also install an Evans EQ-pad in them.

that sound doesn't work with today's mixes. I strongly disagree with that statement. A full front head does not automatically mean sustain for days. Also, it completely depends on the mix.

You burn it? With a hot poker? A torch? How far from the edge? I’ve an old soldering iron I use. I usually make the hole about 2 cm. from the edge. I’ll take a picture of it tomorrow.

I have full front heads on all my kick drums. I’ve installed 91s in Kelly Shu holders in all of them. I burn a hole near the edge in the front head, large enough to get an XLR plug through. (Doesn’t make a noticeable difference, sound wise). I pair that with an LDC on the outside.

- Mac Studio. What an absolute beast of a computer.
- Magnatone Panoramic Stereo guitar amp. I have not ever heard an amp as dynamic, silent and 3D in my life.
- Origin Effects CALI76 stacked edition compressor pedal. So far the most transparent compressor pedal I've heard. It makes SUCH a difference.

I've got 3 of the old Auroras, and they produce a LOT of heat. But, as long as you leave an empty rack space above and below, you'll be fine. I've had mine for over 10 years now.

I have known Jim personally for well over 10 years, and I'm also a customer of DrumArt.com.
I obviously do not know the circumstances of this incident, but I do know this: Jim is one of the most reliable and honest people I know. Basically the blueprint for the term "stand-up guy". He's an excellent businessman and bends over backwards to accommodate his customers. Since 99% of all communication happens online these days, I guess you have everything about this transaction on record? It'd be fairly easy to prove who is in the wrong here. Personally, I highly recommend DrumArt.com to anyone looking to get a custom drum head.

I’m running Pro Tools on Mac studio with same problem. I contacted Acoustica support and was told it’s because PT isn’t silicon native . Acoustica plugins won’t run on Rosetta Ah, of course. That would explain it, as I'm currently running Cubase on Rosetta. Thanks for the info.

I've had mine for a little over a month now. And it is a total beast. It destroys my old WIN computer, which, by the way, is no slouch either.
One thing, though: I am unable to run even a single instance of Acustica plugins on it. They're of course famously power hungry, but I was able to run at least a few on my old WIN computer. Both computers have 64Gb RAM. I tried all buffer size settings, but there was no real difference.
Anyone else having issues with Acustica on M1?

I got a great deal on a Samsung G9 Odyssey 49" screen last year. Totally overkill, of course, but still one of the better decisions I've made.

Does anyone own a Neve 8816? I do think this summer has some of the vibe of the 88RS desk having similar topology. But I have read many times about poor build quality and dodgy pots .... is that true or just the internet rumour mill in action? I had the 8816 some years ago. Sounded great, but the build quality/design was a nightmare. Bad pots and buttons, stereo image moving. A totally unreliable piece of gear. Sent it back to AMS Neve to get it fixed. Came back the same. I gave up on it, and sold it at a colossal loss. Because of that one, and the way they handled the repair, I’ve never considered another piece of AMS Neve gear.

Also followed some online guides regarded optimizing Mac OS and I meticulously went through every needless parameter and disabled everything I didn’t need.
I'd love to have a link to that info, if possible?

This is not my setup, but it shows where you enable/disable the drift correction.

What’s weird is the latency isn’t consistent, it’ll start in time, and after several takes it’ll “drift” until it’s like an 1/8th note off. Also, my hardware inserts aren’t working, the latency is horrendous, to the point that the I/o plug-in can’t compensate. Anyone having similar issues?
I would have to check my setup to give you a firm answer, but if you use several converters together (aggregate device), make sure the drift correction is turned off in Apple's audio setup. I had phase shifting going on when I first played back a project, and it seemed to drift in and out. It went away when I disabled the correction.

I run Cubase 12 Pro on a Mac Studio w/Monterey. It's worked great so far. The only thing bugging me, is the Cubase screen resolution on Mac. I feel like I'm back in 1998.

I've had the ST-2 in my studio for a few years now. For me, it's a must-have tool. And as indiehouse says, although the eq correction is great, the phase and time correction was the real eye opener for me.

Or …. Spotify have different playback levels depending who you are?
If they aren't already, you just gave them a new idea.

Wow, 64 of ram - you've really gone for the doctor! With 2TB SSD you wont be 2nd guessing your machine that's for real. Cheers, Ross When spending, for me, that much money on a computer, I think it's risky to go for anything base spec. The RAM is probably overkill, but seeing as there's no way to upgrade these ones, I'd rather be safe than sorry.
As for the HDD, I would've gone for an even bigger one, had it not been for the ridiculous prices Apple operate with. You can never get enough HDD space. Like, ever.
