I just realised I've had mine for 9 years. Time flies.
It is on every mix I do, and I do love it.
That being said, a lot has happened in 9 years, and I have not A/B'ed it against any of the later plugin verbs. I might be just as happy with a plugin.

Wait... You go Apollo -> Trinnov -> Burl? Won't that put all the processing from the Trinnov on the mix you print? Or did you mean you output separately to each from the Apollo?
The trinnov and Burl just affect what I’m hearing in the room. The changes I make in the daw reflect what I’m hearing in the room but when I burn down, the summing is done within the daw.
Oh, ok. I assumed you had a Burl B2 ADC. My bad.
That begs more questions: Don't you feel the Burl DAC colour the sound? Won't that make it difficult to know 100% what the ITB mix really sounds like?
Forgive me if I have this all backwards.

I go Apollo Spdif out to AES in of the Trinnov, then AES out to the Burl. Wait... You go Apollo -> Trinnov -> Burl? Won't that put all the processing from the Trinnov on the mix you print?
Or did you mean you output separately to each from the Apollo?

I had 2 of these as well as an Echoplex back in the day and I couldn't WAIT to replace them with something quieter, more versatile, and didn't require cleaning tape heads and replacing worn out tapes. I had both a 101 and a 201. What is it with these things that everyone is willing to pay stupid money for them? I don't get it. I bought the Echoplex new in 1974 and sold it just a few years ago. It still worked but needed a new tape. It sat unused in a closet for decades. When digital delays and reverbs came out I was in heaven. Not going back, EVER! Replacing a worn out Space Echo tape is easy as hell. It's in a damn CARTRIDGE fer chissakle! None of the nonsense you need to go through with other tape echoes. And they're pretty quiet, as tape machines go.
Kids these days are SOOooo lazy!
Unless I've completely missed some weird version from years ago, the Space Echo does not have a cartridge. The Echoplex and Fulltone both do, though.
But, yes. People are lazy and want convenience. I kinda like it, though. The maintenance part of it. It makes me appreciate it as a studio tool all that more. It's like listening to music on a turntable. The physical interaction plays a big part.

My RE-501 is the single most indispensable vibe machine of my studio. Unless I need a bone dry, straight-from-the-source signal, it will be in the recording chain.

I will NEVER work in Cubase again. Never.
This is how I feel about ProTools. If I as much as see the ProTools GUI, my heart rate goes up by an alarming rate. It is THE worst piece of shit software on the face of the earth.
I guess if you belong to either the Cubase or ProTools camp, you will never get along with the other DAW.

I put in an order for an mkII with the Fairi-Mu option earlier today. If anyone here’s in Scandinavia, and in the market for an mkI, I have one for sale at the end of Jan.

One of the hardest builds I've ever built. How is it compared to the CAPI VP28? If you 've ever built one of those, that is.

CAPI ACA 32 channels feeding buss A and B:
-> Buss A (Music): API 2500
-> Buss B (Vocals): Shadow Hills Dual Vandergraph
A and B summed down (CAPI 2:1 summing mixer) to 1 stereo buss -> Heritage Audio Successor -> Dramastic Audio Obsidian -> Silver Bullet mkI -> Inward Connections DEQ-1 -> Burl B2 Bomber ADC.
This has been the chain for a few years now, and I haven't felt the need to make a change.

Give them a call at Lynx. Paul is great. I've been super happy with their support. They may be able to fix your card. Lynx and Paul are THE best. I have had nothing but stellar support from them for as long as I've had their products. And I am already speaking with him about this problem. Fingers crossed he has a magic trick up his sleeve. What I'm trying to find out here, is going way beyond what they can answer and support, from a business point of view. Which I completely understand.

Put a working card in for another protocol like usb, sell it, and get the Aurora N. Yeah the cost will hurt but someone will be happy to have it because Lynx is Lynx and still the best, high quality, cross platform solution.
Believe me, the thought crossed my mind.
Unfortunately, financially, that's not an option for me at the moment.

According to Lynx, it will not work and unfortunately, as you are experiencing, Those older ones are unobtanium. Yes, I know Lynx say it won't work. But that wasn't the question
I am hoping for that one rebel out there somewhere, whose curiosity got the better of her/him. There's a lot of stuff that isn't supposed to work, but does.
If it's just the size of the card that stands in the way, I am more than willing to MacGyver a solution, involving ribbon cables and an external box.

I completely forgot about this thread! I actually bought one a few months later.
I'm very happy with it, and have used it in my master buss section ever since.

One of my Aurora's TB card stopped working over the weekend. Looking to find a used one, but so far it has proven difficult.
Have any of you with the old Aurora tried the new TB3 card in the old Aurora? I know it doesn't physically fit, but I am thinking with an appropriate extension ribbon cable?
Surely, someone must have been curious enough to brave it?

No worries, I didn't think you would. This was just me voicing my wishes for a great product, that I hope can become even better.

I like my OX Box. Can't say I thought it sounds inferior to the Two Notes ones I've used. I just wish Universal Audio would add a few cabs. Especially bass cabs. Paging Drew @ UA on that one.
This OX pedal doesn't make sense to me. But that probably means it's not for me

Bass -> Origin Effects Cali76 stacked edt. -> ABY box -> splitting out to:
1: -> UA 610 as DI -> Ampeg B15N, usually mic'ed with a FET 47. (DI compressed with 1176+LA2A, amp with 1176+STA-Level) 2: UAFX Ruby
Then run the 3 sources through Sound Radix Auto-Align 2.

Side question: How many of you all are recording/mixing drums in mono? Less these days. But I rarely pan the OHs out more than 30%. So... Mono'ish? Same goes for toms.

A quick aside: I've wondered for quite some time which is truly better: the Lynx AES 16 PCIe card, or the RME AES HDSPe card. Any thoughts, allbuttonmode and/or thehightenor ? I have no experience with RME, unfortunately.

What issues have you guys had with an external chassis? I've been running a Sonnet Echo Express III-D for 10 years now with no issue at all. I'm curious. A generally more glitchy system (slightly, not a huge issue) than when running cards inside the computer. More latency than when running cards inside the computer. Noisier than running inside a computer. YMMV, but that was my experience. I was happy to dump the expansion chassis.
I run a few things in an external chassis (Sonnet Echo III) over TB, among them a Lynx AES 16 PCI-E card. I have not noticed any added latency in comparison to when it was inside my old desktop computer. All my Lynx converters and cards run stable at buffer size 32.

I've been using iDrive for the past few years. Works great. Uploads are slow, but I just leave the computer running at night, and have the backup scheduled for 1 in the morning.
