I been looking for a new monitor for the Mac Studio DAW.
Considering a wide screen curved gaming monitor. Something >120Hz, >1280p @ 1000-1500R curve, @ 42" between audio monitors.
Anybody using this type of monitor, suggestions, or what u using?

We have a 48" Asus ROG. Love it.

I ended up with a 30" LG widescreen, not curved though. I can't remember who mentioned them here, but a few others concurred with them so I just went with it. I really love it, it's a nice workflow. I put it on an articulating arm, so I can move it close to me for intense editing. I just finished an audio book edit and it was like having my laptop as far as closeness and seeing everything.

This is a nice way to do it, and much preferred (by me) to the rolling cart approach you see in some rooms.

I had thing off to the side for years, but as I get older I'm wearing glasses, and I'm having more skeletal/muscular issues. Now the monitor screen is between the monitor speakers.

I got a great deal on a Samsung G9 Odyssey 49" screen last year. Totally overkill, of course, but still one of the better decisions I've made.

The curve is weird to me. You have to be at the focal point in the curve for it to be of any use, but most people sit too far back from them and the parallax is stranger than just using a flat monitor at that point.
That said, I recently bought a curved monitor to play video games and I really liked the curve for that purpose but the rest of the monitor kind of sucked so I returned it and stayed with my flat monitor. I guess I could take or leave a curved monitor at this point because it seems that the other attributes are more important to me.

As work mecame more DAW centric, I am happy with the screen in front of me.

Stuff that flows very differently on tape or HD recorder.

Yep it keeps you in the seeet spot weather that’s good or bad, sometimes you notice things that you wouldn’t have before, some times that transition was great now you miss things that you wouldn’t have before.

The curved monitor concept is pretty interesting to me, but I think I'll wait another generation or two before I try them. During my development days I grew fond of using dual monitors. But getting enough pixels meant that the top edge is a little too high to be comfortable for me.
So what I've been using for the last couple of years is a pair of BenQ PD3420Q. They have an usual aspect ratio (each is 3440 x 1440), but that allows me to have a lot of real estate with a monitor that's still low enough to be out of the line of fire from my speakers. I've toed them in a little where they meet, so the the distance to my eyes is reasonably constant. It's somewhat like a curved monitor with more pixels than most.
Like some of the other old codgers on this list, my neck and spine aren't what they used to be. My neck doesn't like it when my head is tilted above the horizontal plane. So I built a shelf along the back edge of my desktop with some cutouts for the monitor stands. I place the monitors on these back shelves and that lets me lower them so that the bottom bezel is right down on the desktop. Maybe this little hack will help someone else.
