It's cold outside!! What gear doubles as your space heater? Now that I'm out of analog land - so no more console power supply or tape machine to keep me warm - I gotta say my powered sub and power amp for my monitors is probably the only thing i've got that really adds any heat to my control room. Maybe I need more tube gear?

Definitely my Vcomp. Its got like what...13 tubes in it?
Then probably my 500 racks PSU.

The SVT classic. When that's going I have to turn on the AC even though it's 35F out.

30º high today, and no need for heat with all the tube gear powered up!
Burns less power than heaters to boot.

The RND 500 series units get smokin' hot. Not sure why. 551 and 535.

Dolby 740 is always hot to touch, has empty spaces on both sides. Same with MOTU converters. Both run hotter than most of the tube preamps. Ampeg V4 is heating it's surroundings for sure, as is the Super Reverb. Old Hewlett-Packard regulated tube PSU is probably as hot as the Ampeg.

Probably the guitar amps. I have to take off my jacket when playing.
And I do have a space heater too, haha!
Got to mention the Saxophone as well. The physical effort of playing gets me pretty steamy so I have to take off the jacket after playing Sax for a few minutes.

Manley VariMu. You can fry eggs on it if it's not covered up in a rack.

I have so many jackets gravesnumber9. Usually the ones I'm speaking of are light. I guess I could switch to a jean jacket or a flanel shirt. Maybe I'm just sensitive to temperature. I forgot to mention how small this room is. Things get hot in here easily.

I've since sold both, but at one point, it was a toss-up between my Apollo Twin and my Lynx Aurora 8 MKI. I swear the combination of those two made my room several degrees hotter. You could probably burn yourself if you touched the Aurora chassis near the PSU for too long.
I always had the nagging suspicion that this was slowly degrading things under the hood. I totally get why some digital gear runs hot, but vastly prefer stuff that doesn't.

The BEL 2002 and all its class A power pretty much keeps the furnace off.

And yeah, I'm always nervous that all those circuits I paid thousands of dollars for are gradually melting.

All my stuff (what there is) is very energy efficient -- so, basically, I think all you old-fashioned carbon-burners are dirt!
I bet you clean your studios with a 2-stroke leaf blower too, right?!

Oh yeah, Apollo x4 runnin' pretty maxed out on DSP plus my Mac Pro trash can squeezing every last bit of juice to run my Softube Modular patches is a free trip to summertime.

My 3 Lynx Auroras. By far. For sure! After they have been on a while you can barely touch the front panel.
