he Kali Audio IN-5 3 way. Active, same basic size, easy on the ears, translates really well. Not expensive.

I've used both the Neumann and the Soyuz. The KM184 always feels like it's missing something, especially since I'm used the the vintage KM84's. The Soyuz is like a modern upgrade of the KM84. I'd choose it any day over the KM184.

Sounds really good, but with ten piece band and a BIG "tiny" desk, he's got a jump on people doing simpler shows. I like it. Those are some really good players he's with. Sounds like they're cutting records right there.

That's a lot of hard work putting that demo together Anders. Thanks so much. It was really interesting. If I was looking for an all-rounder, especially for vocals, I'd choose the Vanguard. The Soyuz has such a great vibe though, very moody. I could see using it for a certain type of album, ( thinking of Beck's Sea Change).
The Chandler didn't quite thrill me until you put it on drums, and then it was a knockout. It had all the tone you want right from the start, no need to EQ the drums to death. It would make me rethink the mics I'd use for tracking drums if I was doing that kind of recording.

I no longer have any Waves plug-ins, but I may have a few that aren't silicone ready. I'll look into it when I begin the switch. I have to think on getting an external disk drive now. Finding a thunderbolt drive sounds like a good idea. I hope it's not too expensive when compared to the USB type drives.

Thanks Matt. I still have to get an external drive, and hen I can get said. Appreciate the tip. Since I only use Logic, that's where I'll start ;-)
I won't bother with Luna until it has editing as good as Logic.

Are scaling settings typically included in the software inside the monitor?

Well, I found that monitor for sale used in my area and bought it for $150. I won't be able to try it out until I get a new external disk drive. I sure hope there's nothing weird and I just plug it in and the picture in Logic and when watching videos just looks right.
I also hope that switching computers doesn't set off a plethora of issues regarding all my plug-ins. Hopefully I don't have to reach out to 3rd party plug-in companies for authorization codes for years old plugs.

I won't be able to try the Sound City plug-in for a few days, but I'm looking forward to seeing what others do with it.
I wondered if it would sound better turning the Superior Drummer room mics off. I could in theory use Sound City's room and mics instead.. I think..

As much as people seem to love it, I always felt the 1176 sounded like the tone controls of a Fender amp, harsh and kinda nasty. I've only liked 1176 on acoustic guitars.

After getting the full Monty Black Lion Audio mod to my X6, I discovered the converters were not really the issue with the Apollo's, it was a host of other things. Now my Apollo sounds more like Dangerous Music's converters. The Symphony is a little softer and bigger, more pleasing than the regular Apollo's. So it depends what you're really looking for. I mixed a friend's album with the post BLA mod x6, and I was able to get where I wanted to go in 1/2 to 2/3 the amount of time.

I've been wondering about using the Sound City plug-in with Superior Drummer III. SD3 was recorded in a great space under ideal circumstances, great mics, engineers, drummers, etc. Io there's a certain amount of room sound built in I guess. I also use UA's Ocean Way as my first reverb. More of a way of putting all the instruments in the same room rather than using the re-mic features. It works well, but I like the sound of the Sound City demos I've heard better.
Should I simply do the same thing, use Sound City judiciously as a first room reverb, or do I need to get further into it and use the re-mic modes to get that sound?
Anyone try the SD3 combo with Sound City yet? What is your method?

Hi Lee, I use it first on the 2 bus. Either 30 ips or Smooth Vocal setting, then lower noise, tweak a bit and I get some gain, some glue, and a more natural sound, less harshness. On occasion I use it on one track. It's the best slap back echo I've found.

The Helios plug is the only Unison one I've ever used on occasion.

UAD ATR-102. I could make an album with only this one plug-in. It makes everything better in a natural way. From a demo to record in the right hands.

I honestly don't know much about the 2 Bus +, but I heard what the color circuit's transformers did to a mix, and it had that hard to recreate big console sound.

I listened to the SSL Fusion hardware and was quite underwhelmed. The Dangerous Music 2 Bus+ has the mojo like a real console does. Take a good look at that before buying the SSL hardware.

Here's what I would like to know, WHY has UAD's customer service turned into such a mess. A two week time to solve a problem is simply unacceptable. I can not believe UAD doesn't have enough money to hire more customer service reps. So, why are dragging their feet here? It used to take hours, not weeks to hear back from UAD.
I bought two plug-ins on Nov. 25th, and they're not showing up anywhere. Tomorrow will be 13 days, and I still have no response. This is not what a professional musician can work with. UAD hypes and prides itself on how state of the at their products are, but if there's no customer service to back that up, it's useless.
