I really want one of these plug-ins to be the ticket for me and my small, super dead room. I really did not get along with the sonics of Ocean Way, but that was years ago now.

Yeah - I've demoed that plug a bunch of times and always end up thinking other room verbs sound better. Definitely want to demo this, though. Now everyone can (and will) sound like Sound City. |

I really like Ocean Way, it's a deep plugin and I've had some sounds out of it I really like. I'm sure I'll like this new UAD plugin. Their Motown and Capital Chambers are simply fantastic imho. |

I'm actually digging the Izotope verb (based on the fantastic Exponential Audio stuff, I believe) precisely because it gets out of the way vs. vintagey chambers that sound rad bit call attention to themselves more, if that makes sense.

One of my secret sauces has been the Sunset Sound on the drums as well blended in with my drums recorded in a small room

I think that's the reason I like both my TC hardware and the UAD Ocean Way. The Capital sounds like those old records with a ton of wet vocal, and it's cool, but not where I tend to go. The OW sounds like a space, just a nice halo. |

I wonder if back in the day of hardware convolution reverb Sony or Yamaha did their thing and copyrighted it. There were all kinds of rooms they sampled. I can’t believe UAD a company that pretty much is built on licensing others IP, wouldn’t have the obvious possible conflicts eliminated before even hinting at something. Then again the stupidity of the corporate world no longer shocks me. |
