I have the Legacy and I think it does that woody, cool midrange thing, but I'm wondering how different the updated version is. They're running it for $29 buck, which tempts me to just buy it...

To me, it's the best sounding Unison pre. I've said before, I don't know if I could pick out nuances in digital EQ's unless they're obvious, but it sounds great to me...and is a steal for 29.

Other thsn incenting people into subscription, there’s been no apparent rational to what plugs are ported, when. UA hasn’t provided any guidance on its selection criteria, so sheer speculation as to what’s next?  |

That would account for a release strategy that might feel haphazard to the consumer. |

So... Back to the OP - How different is it from the legacy version? I've been preoccupied with other things. I haven't bought or installed. I do think I'm gonna tell my guitar player who uses Luna to pick it up and unison it for tracks he'll be sending me. |

Is this thing a resource hog? I just posted this on the UADFourms, but I thought you fellas might know something about it.
I decided to upgrade to the newer Helios Type 69 at the sale price. I want to just mess around some, so I put it across 16 tracks of a current project. Doing so gives me the "one or more instances are deactivated due to resource build-up" or whatever it says. This is not an involved project. I'm using an Octo Satelite on a Mac Studio.
There are no other plugins save for Snapshot with mic pre and compressor pics.
This seems pretty ridiculous being that I've been able to do the same type of "entire console" before on larger projects using the SSL and/or API Vision strips. Those both have 2 dynamics, EQ, and filters. I can't see how the Helios is taking more resources.
Am I missing something?

The MK2 has the transformer.
And yes it’s a resource destroyer but it does sound really flipping awesome.
Used it on a rap record and I was impressed.
