Can't believe it's been a month already but I did have some time to play with this thing. Used it on a drum session and it was great to put a little more meat on the snare with the focus!
Anywho, where should I send this to now?

I have the hairball fet500 rev A and love it. VERY aggressive tho. Only usable on certain sources.
Don't have the Splice but I do have the Serpent sb4000 and it's a beast.

If the 47 is fet I would for sure throw that on kick, especially on a nice Rogers kit will shine there. Usually only throw a ldc on snare if it's brushes. Although my favorite position is an ldc about a foot away from the snare down on the ground pointing up at the snare/floor tom/kick NUKED with an 1176 and mixed in low

I think that the pre is a huge part of the chain, especially if it's a dense mix. And I'm using budget gear. I'll take my sm57 -> nv73 over my cm6 -> Apollo silver face pre any day.

Hello Guys, I am bit busy these days. The SA-2A second batch start shipping next week! The SA-4000 will be shipping in late May provided everything goes well with the shipment of parts. There is a video of the SA-4000 in action: Cheers! Sounds great! If you're not done wiring them all up and sending all the orders out, note that the threshold is reversed. Gustav Noticed the same thing. Also surprised it was compressing even with the threshold all the way up.

Quint If you can get past the first few minutes of this drunk dudes video, the rest will explain it fairly decent LOL. So this is basically a transcription system. What makes it "Nashville" though? It doesn't really seem any different from any other transcriptions I've seen out there except for maybe the use of the dash for minor chords. Numbers instead of Roman numerals

While I absolutely love my Warbler MKIV, I think it's horrible on guitar amps unless it's distant (3-4 ft away). 57s and Fatheads blended together work 50% of the time for me. My secret weapon if its a dense mix is an old Beyerdynamic m260. Cuts through but is smooth where a 57 might be more harsh. What don't you like about the Warbler IV? I never tried it closer than maybe 15" off the cone but I liked it. Definitely a little big and in need of HPF but I liked the mids. Actually I thought it was the upper mids and highs that get overloaded and nasty with amps. That being said I've only tried a handfull of times so YMMV for sure. Use it as a room mic for e tar all the time tho. However, I love it on bass cab and use it every session there along with an atm25

What's everyone using to record electric guitars?
I've got fistfuls of 57's, but looking to expand a bit for low bucks. I know the Cascade Fat Heads were a big deal when they hit the streets, are people still using those? Cheaper or better ribbon options out there (again, low bucks, can't swing Royer/AEA/Samar type budget right now)? I've checked out some samples of the Sennheiser 409, 609, 906, and the 906 seems to be a good bang for the buck mic. Anyone using these? Should I look in a different direction?
What inexpensive options are people digging these days? I really liked the 3U Audio Warbler MKIV on electrics. Here's a clip: https%3A//soundcloud.com/fir_out/warbler-iv-vs-i-tele-dirtyWhile I absolutely love my Warbler MKIV, I think it's horrible on guitar amps unless it's distant (3-4 ft away). 57s and Fatheads blended together work 50% of the time for me. So how about Decapitator versus SDRR? I own neither but was leaning towards SDRR. Do this: 1) demo decapitator 2) buy SDRR for $30. It's amazing. 3) buy decapitator if it isn't doing it for you. Edit: I'm a huge Klanghelm fanboy, full disclosure. Love the business model and plugins.

Klanghelm SDRR is my go to for distortion/grit/hair. Demoed the decapitator and it wasn't doing anything I couldn't get out of the SDRR.

Really solid looking builds. Let us know how you like these when you get a chance to check them out! I've built all Don Classics and this is the nicest buildwise. Soundwise they seem equally great. Really grabby on narrow Q, and can be surgical. Wider Q is more transparent but still very effective. Overall quite clean. Just as the original. If you've ever thought about a Sontec or GML (I did) but think it's a bit too expensive for what you're doing, this is the sh*t! unit7 why are you telling me this?? Now I have to buy 2 of these lol. Looks like I'm selling my studer EQ's.
