Interesting, it looks remarkably like a MONO buss compressor, how much is it? any pics of inside? Haven't heard too much on how the La2a ish compressor sounds, or the other rig he's doing, dudes keeping busy for sure.

The price is $390 for the first 50 clients. I just couldn't pass that up and pre orderded one too, yesterday. It seems is gonna be stereo. A couple friends of mine ordered his LA2A comp, they're pretty excited, almost got me to pre order one too.

I have a 2a and an SSL compressor on the way. Compressor is stereo. I spoke with him via email and he has a 1073 in the pipeline as well.

I have and use the SA-2A. It's legit. Used it on a vocal session today.

It would seem that Joshua has overcome the previous naysaying remarks, quite well. My SA2a is working beautifully.
I'll also contact him about getting on of these.

no offense meant to anyone, but i'm the devils advocate, i ain't buyin nothin from no one until i know whats under the hood, $400 is a lot of money to toss on something I KNOW KNOTHING ABOUT, i'd bet the farm it's not using near the component quality, or the quad vca's like the Serpent, I don't think I've seen the inside of his LA2A ish rig yet either, anyone have some pics of that one?

If there was a hpf and a mix knob id jump on this in a second. Still, a fantastic deal if it sounds/performs legit.

I got in under the wire for the $390. Looks like i'll have a nice mix bus comp for the inserts of The Silver Bullet. Humans win again!

I just ordered a Roger Foote P3EX stereo buss compressor for $1000. Would the Stam buss compressor be redundant? I'm considering using the possibly more colored PE3X to track stereo hardware and soft synths in conjunction with a Silver Bullet. Then use the SSL clone on the mix buss. Or do I not need the SSL, and just use the PE3X on the mix buss as well? Or somehow use them to complement each other?

I'm impressed with the build quality. Steel case, Solid faceplate, Metal shield around the power transformer, t4b's and cinemags, RCA tubes, great paint and silk screening. I'll probably replace the output capacitor C10 with something better. Other than that I'm a convert. Just pre-ordered an SA4000.

Not many people have heard the PE3X yet, but from all info and informal discussions with Roger it is more in the direction of the SSL types, while also having RMS type processing. It's also got transformers. It's really hard to say if anyone would find the Stam redundant, or if it'd find another place. There are times with certain hard rock mixes where I might have just barely some FCS RMS in front of just barely some SSL type. Like 1.5:1 on both with the meters hardly registering. Comparing the other FCS with adjustable attack and release to the Serpent SB4001 SSL type, the FCS had a much more defined attack and release envelope and could do much more hard and brutal sounding things to a drum bus, where the SSL type added a sort of cloudy pillowy smeared thing. If you crank a mix up to 20dB GR with both having reasonably matched constants, the FCS still had good sonics and the SSL type had disintegrated into poo. I like the SSL fine when the meter is barely moving.

Looks like he's using good components. I'm guessing he's pricing his labor cheaper to be competitive and planning on bulk sales. Capitalism at it's best. Worked for Walmart.
On a side note, good gear like this that's reasonably priced drives the market down for all it would seem. Why pay 1200 for a copy of this compressor when we can pay 400? Some would say, well the (insert brand here) is better. Maybe so but how much better? Is it 800 dollars better? For some the answer would be yes. For most, like me the answer is no.

Low profit margins, high sales volume, it's the best way to price stuff in this industry. I have a 2a and a 4000 on order and I'm pretty excited to use them.

I didn't see the details on FB.... This is kind of embarrassing but I don't remember the price. I'm pretty sure it was 2 or 4 channels and it was a similar deal where you got a discount for being an early adopter and there was a lower buy in. Hopefully Joshua will continue to treat me right since I was one of the first guys to ride the Stam train.
