Not yet - But I'm on the list to get my HEDD upgraded to the same circuitry. Long story short - If Dave says it's better, I want it. Has Dave said it's better? I've unfortunately managed to not hear a single piece of Dave Hill gear in my 20 years in this business, Don't know how that's happened. Shame on you! Trakker changed my life when I first got it 20 some odd years ago. The only piece of gear that I have not sold over the years besides my original Great River MP2. The Solaris looks yummy but definitely a luxury item for me....

I picked it up as well. Sounds good, did a nice thing to a lead vocal, lil compression, lil eq....

So if there is no noise happening and the unit sounds great I should be ok? Yes, until the cheap switching supply develops a noise problem. It seems to be the most common failure mode for switchers. Happens all the time with computers, even those with "premium quality" gamer grade supplies. Usually with a switcher the common repair method is to replace the whole supply. With linears you fix the supply. Most switcher supplies seem to be modules produced by an OEM supplier, not designed and built by the company, except in some of the really expensive devices. Got it. Thanks for the info! mc

Cue the "It must be crap because Uli Behringer owns them" comments... Beat me to it...

Would you rather it be a wall wart? Yes, if it was a high quality linear wall wart. Vastly superior to having an RF spewing switching supply actually inside the shield provided by the chassis. So if there is no noise happening and the unit sounds great I should be ok?

Would you rather it be a wall wart? John - If it's properly filtered and regulated, what's the problem with a switch mode supply? I want to know what these things sound like. Michael? Any other thoughts? Not sure how long you've had these..... Only had it a little while, got it parked on the kick drum but initially did a quick vocal check, turning the knobs to make sure it does what I wanted it to. No issues at all but like I said it has only been used on kick which was where I previously had been using the A designs pem-eq500. So far it is a fantastic deal for the money, much like how the KT1176 turned out to be a winner.

Switch mode power supply - EEeeewwwwww. Wonder what other corners they cut? Would you rather it be a wall wart?

I posted in the KT1176 thread but yes, I have one. Slapped it on my kick and then sold my pair of A designs EM-peq500 since it did pretty much what I was using those for. I plan to get another. They sound great, solid build, knobs feel good, just like with the kt1176 they did a great job at an amazing price. Who did you buy these things from? My local rep.

Been using my KT1176 for a while. Compared it to my UA1176 and it was close enough to be interchangeable. Also recently got the EQP kt and loved it so I sold my A designs EM PEQ500.

Welcome to the board michaelcleary. Was the Bricasti used in the track yours, or was it in the studio the tracks were done in? Not sure which track your referring to but I have not posted any tracks. The Bricasti I have in my studio is on loan from a friend of mine.

dandeurloo , yep I'm familiar with them. I can't find Jim on either and I see a bunch of BIll on IMDB, but don't really know what that means. composer: additional music To me, that means that he wrote some background music in the show/movie. Are they actually his full blown productions in the video or just stuff that he wrote that's being recut elsewhere. Did he fully produce them? Did he mix them? Are they using real instruments or VI's? Is he pushing out big Pimp Dawg tracks like ChaseUTB or new age jazz like drsax or ethereal background music. I'm trying to put their opinions about gear into perspective. I'm personally not using VI's in my productions. I'm not against them, but that's not the kind of stuff I do. If they happen to do all instrumental music using VI's, their toolset and gear selections/uses will be very different from mine. I just don't understand why someone will talk a big game and say "turn on the Disney channel if you want to hear my work", but can't tell me if they're mixing foley or writing the hit songs from Frozen. Also, FWIW, I'm nobody. I can't make a living mixing. I'm not trying to come across as better than anyone here. I'm sure a bunch of you cats probably think my mixes/music suck. At least you can check my stuff out and form your own opinions. Well, maybe this'll be helpful and give you and ChaseUTB the chance to hear the Bricasti in a totally different context. I don't produce new age jazz... most of the contemporary jazz I do comes from funk, pop, R&B and soul. Contemporary jazz is quite a bit different from New Age. But I have produced many different styles from jazz to rock to R&B and more. With that said, here's a song I produced and mixed 5 years ago for an independent rock band from Chicago/Milwaukee. It's hard rock combined with pop and rap elements. I had nothing to do with the video. I produced and mixed the song. As a cool side note, the drummer who is a good friend of mine, went on to be Prince's drummer the last few years before Prince passed away. Anyway, the Bricasti is the main verb in this song. It's the only verb on the drums. I set up a patch that sounded great on the drums and then most of the mix elements got a taste of it too. That single Bricasti patch was used on Drums, Vox, Guitars, Rap, and several other mix elements. The YouTube compression makes a very compressed mix even more so... but feel free and check it out. You may dig the sounds or not... but here's a chance to hear the Bricasti in a different context than what you might expect. Sounds great. Which patch?

API 527 lives on my kick. A little tricky to dial in at first but once there I can't live without it. But it's so player dependent!! It never sounds right for more than one player at the same settings, don't you find?? True, but I only have one player!

Bricasti is a game changer. Pretty much the most effective verb I have ever used and the first time I used it I realized it can really make a mix into a different animal than if I didnt have it. Love it for rooms on drums, space on vocals or just vibe on any instrument. Sigh.... I have had one on indefinite loan for a year and hopefully I get to hang onto it for another year....

In that price range I'd be looking at the Presonus ADL600. A seriously great mic PRE. I've used mine for well over a decade and it has always delivered beautiful results. This. Big and beautiful sound. Great deals on these now if you shop around.

Have used LDC on acoustics with lots of luck in the recent past. M149 (toob mic but my fav) , U87, TLM107, but most recently just did a track with stereo Royer SF12 along with a KM84 (picked up from a decent fellow)up the middle....real nice but almost too big sounding for this particular track so may just end up using only the KM84 track. High class problem to have....
