I like em. I like a 441 better but I really like SM7s.

I dunno man. Sounds to me like you're clear-eyed about what it would (and wouldn't) mean and it might be a fun adventure. If I were in your shoes, as you describe them, I'd go for it.

God dammit. I knew better than to mess around with this. Maybe check your junk email folder? Or give it more than a few min? Their system could be running slow with the sale going.

I’ve heard enough clips and user accounts that I need to try some CA-0252's . Ordered 6 to play with.

Worth noting that the utility Behringer stuff I’ve had has been totally rock solid. The headphone amp is ridiculously clean and high powered, with a bunch of nice routing features. Loved the VVerb. Their little cable tester. Some stuff we used to use for our rehearsal PA in my band days. Behringer is always painted as the Cheap Stuff Villain but, I dunno, I don’t think it’s that simple. They’ve got a whole city of manufacturing. They’ve whittled down their supply chain and design costs with a lot of inventiveness and shrewd investment strategies. They offer really long warranties. Then they can do fun stuff like hire some synth nerds to make really bitchin analog synth clone-ish things. I can’t keep my hands off the Poly D.
To me, the marketplace is a complex entity and pure heroes or pure villains are hard to come by.

Since starting this new job, Bluetooth cans have become a huge part of my life. I've been trying a bunch. The winner so far is the Sennheiser HD450BT. I can't deal with sizzly headphone highs and the 450s sound nice and flat. I also like the button layout and pairing behavior. The only problem is they start feeling too tight after an hour or two. I've also tried the (pricier) Senn PXC 550-II, which are much more comfortable but I hate the top end, everything sounds sibilant. The Sony WH-CH510 and Sony WH-CH710N both sound ok, but they're not that comfortable. The Audio Technica ATH-SR30BT sound terrible to me.
So I'm looking for something to sound as good as the Senn 450s but be more comfortable. I've got the Beyerdynamic Lagoon ANC Traveller and the Status Flagship ANC showing up this weekend.
And yes, I am going a bit crazy with this.

Which iteration of the dbx 160 are y’all talking about? Any of the single space. If I grab some, it'll be the 500 series. I've got room for that, 19" is almost maxed.

Wasn't there some kind of big sale last Black Friday-ish on dbx 560A? Maybe the other dbx 500 series stuff too. I'm wanting some more 500 series comps for drums, might need to try 2 or 4 of them.

Oh no kidding. I’ve lived in W Sea since 2011. Maybe we were neighbors. Harry’s has only been here a couple of years so unless you were here as recently as that, you didn’t miss it. Worth going though if you’re ever back out here (I’d wait until the the damn bridge is repaired though ) Oh, cool! Which neighborhood? We last left Seattle in 2016. Lived in the Highland Park area and almost stayed but we felt the tractor beam pull of raising our kids around our folks. We get up there a couple times a year but always wind up going to Marination because we always have the kids with us. Marination is more about the sauces than the meats but I'd say it still deserves a mention : ) Oh man, I adore Marination and have been a big fan since it was just the food truck. So so good.

I don’t have anything useful to add, I just like there being posts in this thread so that I read the title when scrolling. Makes my mouth water every time. My wife and I had a kid-free couple of nights (they were with my folks) this last week and we went to one of our favorite spots, Harry’s Beach House, which is just down the hill from us on Alki Beach (which looks out at Puget Sound here in Seattle). I had some sort of smoked pork chops dish, with an apple-fennel thing over roasted peppers of some sort. That smoked pork/apple/fennel/pepper flavor will haunt my dreams. I've lived in West Seattle a few different times and never tried that spot. Sounds like I should have! Oh no kidding. I’ve lived in W Sea since 2011. Maybe we were neighbors. Dirk has a response on GS which confirms that the saturation/THD algo from the SSL consoles was retrofitted onto the N because 1. it wasn’t originally modeled with the saturation, and 2. Dirk claims that the distortion on the original desk was not very good to begin with. I don’t know if that’s the case for later BX Consoles.
Uff so I was wrong... since when Neve artifacts sound bad? Sounds to me like a cheap excuse...for not doing the work......and gives me doubts about his ethics, because they claim too to model every detail....
Pushing a board that was designed to be crystal clean hard enough to clip it can very well sound quite bad.

ragan what is the stam sitting on ? ragan what is the stam sitting on ? (Warm audio 76s? Looks like a pair of them) My guess is you ( kcatthedog) mean the Stam SA-23A+ at the top. That is sitting on a Lucid 88192 (one of the best, sleeper AD/DAs ever...shhhhhh). But Ward hawkeyed the Stam ADG in the lower left, which, yeah is above a couple of WA76s.

I’m not sure I’ve ever tracked a lead vocal that didn’t have 1176 on it at one stage or another. I love that clamp.
Edit: I did have a phase where I was leaning on a Distressor more than 1176. Back to 1176 (followed by opto) these days.

Spent a little more time with it. It really is just lovely sounding. A couple dB off strummed acoustic guitar with the 3A, 5-7dB with either of the 2A models on bass, just luscious. And for my own voice, I'm really smitten with the Rev A on the ADG into the 4A. Pins it in a beautiful way I haven't gotten before.

I liked it but it had two things going against it: 1. Huge CPU consumption 2. It’s Waves, so you buy it for $30 and then put it in mixes only to have to require a big WUP shortly after. Like the rest of my Waves purchases, it’s gone by the wayside I've actually never bought a Waves plugin. Can you explain WUP please? After a year or two, if you need the newest version of the plug-in you bought (like if you’ve got a newer version of your DAW or OS), you have to pay a fee to get it. Anywhere from like $50 to $200. I haven’t looked in a while. The whole operation became such a damned nuisance I just stopped considering Waves plug-ins as viable options. You buy something for $39 and then 18 months later it stops working and it’ll cost you like $100 to make it work again. No thanks.

Funnily enough, I've been prescribed Ivermectin cream (brand name Rosiver) to treat my rosacea. I haven't had a rosacea problem for years, but I guess my kidney failure earlier this year triggered a terrible outbreak on my face, quite embarrassing even with a mask. So I'm fully vaccinated, masked in public, and using ivermectin, a perfect trifecta of awesomeness. Sorry to hear that, about the rosacea and the kidneys. Hang in there, Les. Glad to see it hasn't put a damper on your sense of humor.

Didn't have a ton of time tonight but I ran acoustic guitar, vocals, electric guitar, and bass through the SA-23A+ and I can say that it sounds really, really damn good. What a tool to have in the arsenal. There are a lot of tonal/dynamics options in this box. Amazing.
More details when I have more time with it.
PS fit and finish is superb. Feels like a tank.

Stam SA-23A+ just got delivered. I’m at work and won’t be able to check it out until later, but I am pumped about it.
Also ordered a Behringer Poly D, which I am likewise pumped about.
