Gml is in daily use here. Friend's room down the street uses Hardy M1's and I've tracked a lot there and I find them fantastic as well.

I have a presonus hp60 which allows two separate stereo mixes. My prism titan has a headphone amp as well so that gives me a total of 3 separate stereo cue mixes available (no TB on that 3rd mix though). I make all my mixes in HDX and don't give the musicians control. They ask for changes and they get changes, but this way the mixes don't get screwed up. I don't like the individual mixers for musicians because most guys just make a mess out of their cues and it can and sometimes does affect their performances. Seasoned guys who do a lot of studio work tend to be better of course. I do a lot of jazz dates and jazz musicians tend to have a real difficult time with those boxes, it it really will screw up their performsnces. I'd like a few more dedicated stereo cues, but I haven't found an elegant solution for that yet and I haven't had a problem yet with only having 3 cues...

I've done this with certain effects in guitar rig. Not the same thing of course, as GR is the plugin, but if the included effects will get you what you need, it's an easy option.

For comfort I prefer the akg 240 all day long. And for tracking they sound fine to me- very easy to listen to as they're slightly mid scooped but without exaggerated low end. Sony 7506 are better for clarity but are less physically comfortable, but still fine. I hate wearing the ath m50 because they feel like a vice on my head, and they're somewhat mid scooped but with an exaggerated low end, but around here, when given the choice, singers tend to like them the best. I think it's probably because they're so tight, they bleed less and so they're hearing what sounds like a finished record in the foldback.

Nothing sounds like a 4038. Luckily they aren't expensive and the £ is low now so they're even less expensive.

I can only think of one or two specific instances where I would prefer a jazz to a p.... the p just sounds like a bass should sound, and without any fuss.

JK apollo is fine, no need to ever upgrade for quality reasons, get a bricasti. Not kidding. You won't *understand* until you use the real thing, but then you'll really get it.

I love the sound of a DI fender bass. Countryman is great, my favorite is the www.fire-eye.com red eye, Avalon is cool too. Also, Daking fet ii is is fantastic for tracking bass.
