I've tried to avoid going UAD and locking myself into that game. I'm pretty happy with my native plugs but am in search of a better EMT 140 sound than Altiverb delivers. UAD's EMT140 seems to be the king of the hill but I've heard rumors that VNXT's EMT 140 samples are the real top dog.
Nebula look old, sketchy, and lightly supported. Is anyone using it as a plugin successfully with PT 12?
Has anyone compared the UAD EMT140 to the VNXT/Nebula version?

The Waves Abbey Road plates are excellent.

Yep...waves. I still use the UAD one more than anything else though. Check out Valhalla Plate - killer plug. $50

Plate IRs in Space work well for me. Love the "plates" in Valhalla Vintage Verb too.

Per your question, I have both the Nebula 140 and the UAD.
When I upgraded computers back in 2012 I didn't have the energy to go through another Nebula install. But, as luck would have it, I came across an old mix and was marveling at the depth of the reverb and puzzling at how I managed to forget to mix that like.
Of course, it was from my Nebula period.
I bit the bullet last year and reinstalled select programs, and even ended up buying a few new ones.
I hate to say it, but I do think it is that good. I was able to beat every UAD reverb with a Nebula one - though the UAD BX20 Spring is a toss up.
So, I have gone back and forth on both, but really do find I prefer the Nebula VNXT (or whatever the initials are) version.

Nebula and Waves are miles ahead of the UAD 140. The UAD BX20 is much better being built on new techniques and its pretty even with the Nebula BX springs. Bricasti is better than any plugin but everything falls drastically short of the real thing. If you can find a broken one buy it and fix it up. If you can build your own they are much simpler than you might imagine.

I didn't really care for Ebony's that much...and maybe I haven't heard the right Nebula plates yet...but I didn't hear anything that was worth the trouble. I find myself thinking the Waves is more "realistic"...but I seem to just be able to pop the UAD one on, go to my standard setting and it just sits perfectly.

Only plug in I sometimes miss is the EMT 250. I now can say that I am UAD and Waves free and I am very happy with this.

Just tried Ebony again and yeah - it's really pretty. Just not enough control over the parameters for me.
