I think a running thread would be really interesting given that we all probably have different tastes. I'd love to hear what is turning everyone on. Think of it as a brother thread to the what you were bumping in high school thread.
I'll start with the Andy shauf record 'the party'. The album sounds great. makes me realize how real and organic instruments sound when they are played only loud enough.
It's not new but it's newish, the tame impala records sound so cool. The DRUMS. good GOD.
Mount eerie 'clear moon'. Great textures. Interesting play with balances. He forges his own road.

You sound like cla! What do you find yourself using the asb for. My guess would be anything since it's so invisible but I always wondered what I would end up liking it on. I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess. Correcting dynamic range issues to save performances, squeezing the 2buss, and potentially crushing anything without artifacts... the options really seem endless. Atomic on pretty much anything. It's compression action is quite transparent, but the tube goodness adds a real nice warmth and slight color. I find myself using on lead vox, guitars, drums and drum buss, mix buss, and it's the best bass comp I've ever used. Just so great. You can really shape with it. Although it's relatively clean - this thing works well on anything. For all around tube compression on any source, it would be my desert island piece. That's what I was afraid of. Lol thank you for sharing!

I've always wanted to hear that vac rac and the atomic squeeze box. Nice rack! ASB and TSL3 are both awesome. The Atomic is unreal. Nothing out there like it that I've found. I've had it for 8 or 9 years. TSL3 can be real nice on vocals... lead and BG. Stereo BG Vox sound killer through the TSL3 into an A Designs Hammer EQ. So sweet! You sound like cla! What do you find yourself using the asb for. My guess would be anything since it's so invisible but I always wondered what I would end up liking it on. I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess. My final thought is this. A while ago I checked out some of the local (and not so local) studios to see what gear they used as I was interested in testing mics. Most of them used UAD, Waves and all the usual stuff. Not one mentioned Acustica stuff, which is perhaps bizarre, then. UAD is stable, sounds good and the company is responsive and ultra-reliable... professional. Acustica sounds great, that's about it. I've got 20 UAD sharc chips running, 1: Because I needed the extra external help while running an older Mac that I had been fearful/lazy to upgrade, 2: Because I wanted a totally unfettered workflow. Maybe I wanted to try every track through an 88rs or Ocean Way while being able to quickly AB a bunch of different 2-buss setups. I'm never going back to the days of freezing tracks. I tried a couple Acqua plugs last year, but one or two instances brought my old Mac to its knees. And they were pretty quirky to work with. But I thought they sounded great. Good enough to add some extra motivation to upgrade my setup (which, it turned out, was very easy. After years in Windows, I was apprehensive, but -for me- upgrading hardware, software and OS in Mac was a piece of cake). So, I can finally run a number of Acquas. I'm still somewhat limited, though. Turns out Acustica stuff runs great in Windows, especially with Reaper as your DAW. Mac and other DAWs to a variety of lesser extents. And I still don't have the nerve to tackle Nebula. Maybe I never will! I haven't yet tried, and I may not have the processing power, to run a number of the new Acquas on lots of tracks throughout a mix. ABing, say, an eq on one acoustic guitar track, I can say, yeah, it may sound better, but in a mix it becomes negligible. Where I've been noticing large improvements is on the mix buss. Here it's night and day. I've been replacing UAD Shadow Hills, Massive, etc, as well as some non UAD with the compressors and eq in Pearl2, Pink and Amythest2. Here, I find the Acustica is just in another league altogether. But it will take weeks and months for me to fully explore what these plugs can and can't do. I love the process! Yeah, I got the pearl2 with the 2buss in mind It was a lot cheaper than a curve bender. At this point, I think 90% of my pro audio purchases will be directed towards mics and preamps (except for perhaps a bg2 😂). Those can't be replaced with plugins, yet. I'm eying an op6, 4 more am16's, and the chandler mic. Ugh, God help me. My plan is to have 12 am16's in the tracking room. I think they are perfect there as they are fixed gain anyways.

Here's a really well done and straightforward video where the guy goes through the process of installing the Magenta trial. I think if you give this a watch all your questions will be answered. Really, once you've done it once or twice, it's not hard at all. Yeah something must be wrong. I did everything he did.

Activating trial plugs is not that easy. Haven't been able to get mine to work yet. Trying the aquamarine and the emerald. Followed all their instructions. Can't get them to activate. I emailed them.

Well it seems to depend on the order I turn them on. If I turn the pp16 on first, then the apogee seems to not give me problems. That's helpful to know...

Sounds like the clock on the power play needs to be set to external. There aren't options on the box and haven't found any drivers either. Can I force it with the apogee somehow?

Tell me, c0rtland, what differences do you find between the 60 watt single channel and the 100watt dual channel? P.S. These amps are going for as much as $2900 now! They're in high demand in the UK, according to Seymour. I'm in the market for a nice cabinet to use with the head. So it hasn't seen much use. I use the combo a lot though and it's just killer. Super clean tons of headroom on clean channel. Overdrive channel has loads of clarity and a meaty girthy overdrive when pushed. It's just great. The combo has the high gain tube and the presence tube.

So as a follow up to kcatthedog logic latency issue I have my own issue. I'm running logic 10.1.2 Apogee symphony mk1 16x16 card and 8x8 analog card with 8x8 adat too I have the powerplay 16 rack mount being fed 8 channels adat from my symphony card 2. I'm sending the channels out of logic using the outs 25-32 which are my adat outs in maestro. Upon playback/recording I am experiencing glitches pops and latency in the headphone mixes. I am just using an inexpensive hosa 3' adat cable which works fine for other applications such as going from my computer to my apple airplay etc Any thoughts or experience would be appreciated.

Sweet c0rtland! I'm also planning on acquiring the 60 watt version as they aren't quite as 'Dumbly' in the lead department. As you have both, you probably know what I'm talking about. Hi gain, normal normal, presence, classic and you have the makings of the Dumble tone and definitely a lot of Jeff Beck. Most ahead of its time, advanced, under-rated and under-valued amp in history. We should be encouraging Seymour to get back into this business! my bad. I didn't notice your combo was 100w. My combo is 60 and the head is 100. I don't have that foot switch, and the reverb doesn't work in the combo but... Haven't been able to find stand alone tube cartridges either. They are definitely under rated. Got the combo for free and the head was $500. I was like are you kidding me? Sold.

Just bought another Duncan Convertible. That makes 2 now. 1 head and this combo. I have both those as well! I got my 100watt head at carter's. !!! They have killer clean tone too.

Could work. There are no buss' so I'd use the six aux to sum tracks so I could send 14 summed outs I guess including the 2 buss. Not bad.

Yeah at a fairly quick point a lot of this stuff doesn't make financial sense. The only way it makes sense is that if it's really rare you can end up making some money when you drop it.

Man. It would be nice to get a console but...
I've been using my dbox and mini mixer to sum pre ad conversion.
I'll take my multiple mic mono sources, snare, kick, cabs, etc, and send to the odd or even channels on the dbox or l,r on the mini and just print one track instead of 2-3. Works well! I know it's kinda like duh but... just a little thing for people with summers.
