The new Chandler type L is one to seriously consider ; will work really well on most sources including acoustic and vocal, is in your financial ball park and I doubt you'll ever want to sell it. Cheers, Ross

Any body have a Neumann CMV capsule head without capsule or one that would presumably fit such as a Blue? or know where I could get one. I have a new model Microtech Gefell CMV which I want to put a Heisserman Cap in but don't want to disregard the original cap as it works great on instruments like accordion, Upright, cello etc however in this instance I want to use it for vocals which is where the Heisserman in another mount would come in ( I have the HK 47 cap sitting waiting). Let me know.
Cheers, Ross

Love his very personalised rendition. as to the Taylor; some of them can sound amazingly good and that is his sound right there soundhole plug and all. Ive owned a 714, wasn't enamoured of the neck shape but the instrument had tone for days FWIW. Cheers, Ross

I've had PT 10 since forever John; it's been rock solid but now I've an M2 which I can either get a new perpetual PT 12 for or just use the free Luna which I may well do. Whatever, PT on a reliable system did what I needed and worked out to around $70 AUD a year give or take. My point is , if the version is reliable why update all the time? Cheers, Ross

As the song says "wondering why" (it should be a hit) ; it feels like a song I could've / should've written. Wiz this could give you cause for optimism , it's very loosely in your ball park IMO. Chers, Ross

I reckon wait and see . Peter freedman is nothing if not pragmatic and patriotic so the confluence may make it interesting. The small later model Mackie mixers feel like plastic crap so they could start there in the first instance for sure. Cheers, Ross

With any luck they'll apply their essentially much stronger physical build ethic. Cheers, Ross

Original M88s IMO sound how you want a Kik to sound without an identifiable flavour. However they seem to ultimately cave as others have said. Cheers, Ross

Slight diversion - haven't heard the Pusherman for years ; interesting how the bass and drums are both only in the left channel as per a lot of records at that time. Need to check it on meters and see what it's doing there. Definitely one of the best bands of the era. "Born to be Wild" followed by the amazing "Magic carpet Ride" - incredibly good. Cheers, Ross

Had a quick futz with it today - what stuck out was the mid range; as has already been said the immediacy of it without harshness. Setting B has a lifted top end relative to A whereas A is a little fatter overall which I preferred on my voice. They are both versions of taste much like 2 different tasty salad dressings on a great salad. I'm a bit prone to hyperbole and this may change with more real world use but it feels like a mic you could make a whole record with so no buyer's remorse other than multi pattern would have been very cool particularly with all the competition at the moment. Doing narrations for video tomorrow and happily feeling it'll nail it. Cheers, Ross

Yes Wiz, primarily DI guitar but would still be picked up by the mic to a fair degree I would have thought Cheers, Ross

Only a guess but with his budget possibilities its fair to assume it would be I reckon. What strikes me is that even though he moves a lot and is plugged in, the guitar is not compromised noticeably because of the changing distance relative to the 47 Cheers, Ross

Nice to see Spock - just put down my dinero with Mick from Mixmasters here in Aus , this morning. He thinks they may be in his hands today. Haven't heard it in the wild so it's a big plunge considering the great choices in mics at the mo but at the end of the day I only live this one time! Cheers, Ross

Joshua's had enough experience making all the classics ; will be interesting to see if he can meld the high points of each design into a classic also. Will rest mainly, as always, on the capsule.... Cheers, Ross

My interest is fluctuating between this BN 67 mk 2 , the Chandler L and the AEA KU-5. For mine it needs to handle with grace , vocalists who over excite the edgy 2 - 4k region. I also want it to handle a fiddle without that edge. e.g.. Not a U87ai! Since getting the BN67 is your older U 87 seeing use these days Wiz? Cheers, Ross

It seems like, over the course of this thread, many people have made a good case that the BU67 V2 is *the* 67 clone to beat right now. Is this how you who have used the real deal feel about it Cheers, Ross

Im really attracted to both the KU-5 and the type L . Can anyone with relevant experience give me a nudge either way (leaving price out of it). Uses would be vocal and fiddle sometimes on the same mic, often live ( but not necessarily) with a 3 piece band of acoustic guitar, upright bass, fiddle / Vox. Apparently the importer has a shipment of Ls arriving in Aus tomorrow with most already sold. Cheers, Ross
