I know there are are a few threads about this but I havent seen any recent banter . The weight tank WT-72 seems to be the lower cost choice with sonic farm and mercury up higher . I just tried a mercury V72 and liked it . Any other tube pres of note in the 1k range ? Thanks

Over about 20 years I put together a 2-inch 16-track based analog studio with every microphone, instrument, amplifier, processor i ever dreamed of. Then I moved it all into a big space with high ceilings, isolated for miles in a rural area. It’s too much stuff to go into detail. My thought was just, when I reached that point where there was nothing else I wanted to improve the situation, that was the game-changer. Because I wasn’t thinking about it anymore. man that sounds great , if I had that Id be happy too . is it a private or personal studio ?

Ah just curious about the atmosphere , is it all tech and half time show ? Are there areas with low key stuff or is it all spread around , how tough is it to get around during the fest ? Is there a cool local pub where regular players hang out . Crap like that I guess

I have a friend doing a solo set there , He told me its a club with a back line and I could hop on the drums if I want to make the trip .
I always wanted to play there , but that was back when I was young and slightly dumber .
Any one been there in the last year or two ?

Guided By Voices - Bee Thousand would be a pinnacle example. Total classic. $100,000 advance, boombox and a 90 minute cassette tape is the local legend. The Replacements "Stink" comes to mind immediately, but I'm sure if I rifled through my LPs I could find a dozen more. bee thousand was boombox and tascam 4 track . thats right from the source

It took me a while to find a good pair on eBay. I purchased two that were listed as good and they weren’t. I finally got a pair and after having Klaus Heyne look at them I ended up at around 1250 a piece I got sick of looking for good ones I’m sure some people get lucky though.

Max's BV12 certainly has the low mid thing going on . Ive compared it to the original as well and found the same thing with the top end . great on guitar amps though .

Are you guys using the MK 67 for more than just vocals? Drums guitar etc. i'm demoing the U 99 bock microphone . It is really cool. Brighter than the original u67 but very versatile

Im looking forward to the bock 67 as well .. I've been chasing the u67 for awhile after hearing a few originals . I have two DIY u67s - one Max transformer One ami transformer . Very different sounding Mics . Just picked up the Bock U99 So far it is awesome, very balanced.

I have 2 vp28s and 4 vp25s now . Looking for a 500 series compressor for drums and possible vocal duties . I haven't seen a lot of opinions about the FC526 ? I'm looking at the splice -hairball or the FC526 . Opinions of any would be great Thanks

There has been much ballyhoo about original input transformers for the 1176 ( I have a few ) But i'd rather buy something then build at this point. For simplicity I've been going 500 series lunchbox . Will building something with original transformers be a more desirable route than say a splice audio unit? Any thoughts would be appreciated

I don't see a lot of talk about the vp25 ? Dose it lack character because of the larger output transformer (smoother low end /less aggressive ) ? I thought about getting 2 vp28s and a few no iron cards to expieriment With .
