What happens if you make all tracks inactive and then re activate each individually ? Do you have a culprit track ? What happens if you reintroduce one at a time:rebuilding the load ? What happens if you export everything to a new session ? I have not tried deactivating the actual tracks. My next move was to consolidate and delete regions and see what happens. I can run the working session at a 128 buffer, but am using 256.

Well, i have done just about everything that I can think of and find on the web. I have 3 Sessions that will not allow me to play though the entire song without overloading the CPU. One of these 3 is a 13 track session it was not pulling more then 12% on my old PT9 system. I tried a save copy in, to see if it was a file issue but no luck. This is happening in PT10 and 12, even with every plug disabled. Very frustrated. Need to figure out what is wrong with these 3 sessions.

I'm on 10 for a few more weeks, it seems whenever i've run into weird issues like that, a simple save, shut down PT, restart, repair disk permissions, restart AGAIN, reopen PT and session, it will stabilize. Because of that instability i set my back up for every minute, I look forward to upgrading to PT12 as i've heard it's eons more stable, and uses much less cpu resources than 10. good luck P Yeah, I did the disc repair, shut down, and restarts. Not much of a change. I bought a Fast track from Alto which came with a full version of 10,11,12, so I still have 9 if I can't get through these issues. Great deal on it.

I know there is alot out there on this subject, but nothing that addresses a solution. I need to finish a current project on pt10 since I was using rtas plugs extensively on the old PT9 session.
I am now running a 2012 2.4ghz Mac mini, mountain lion, 16 gigs RAM, 2 SSD.
Some of the old sessions run great, barely breaking 15% native cpu load. I have 2 that run at 10% load then after 5min crash the cpu spiking to 100%. I can wait it out and it takes about 2mins then the cpu stabilizes, but it cycles again in 5 to 10 mins.
I have tried all the tricks I could find online. Buffer changes, core changes, ect.
Any suggestions?

Did you feel like you have been through all this before? Going backwards must be really disappointing.
Sorry can't resist a jab.

Thanks for the insight guys. I knew from groupdiy.com that igor was part of IGS. Really still interested in people's experiences with them.
Keep it coming.

IGS Audio. These guys have a lot of good looking stuff.
I have only heard reports on the S type 500 series comp. Anyone have experiences with their other gear? Primarily interested in the 500 series stuff.

How many slots do you want?
Capi is roughly $750 for 11, add $350 and get 22 slots. Not a bad deal if you look at the long term investment.

Is it that much better then the FC526? Is it $500 better? It looks like it has some useful features and I am intrigued by the description of the auto modes.

Switchcraft makes modular patchbay units, I think they are in banks of 16.

Except you can't "regulate" AC in the sense that people do DC. AC being a perpetually oscillating signal could be "cleaned" by filtering out noise above 60hz, but a lot of "power conditioners" already do that. Other than that, you could rectify and then build an inverter, but the harmonics generated would be far worse than any trash on the municipal power lines. It's probably too small to be a ferroresonant transformer, but I suppose it could be a specially wound one. Ferros work by resonating flux between the windings and the result is highly constant AC voltage. I'd like for the company to explain exactly what this device is.. Could you do it with a online sine wave ups? Adjust the voltage feeding the inverter? Not sure if using the battery would clean it up any. I have used a few of the nicer of the sinewave ups's and they seemed clean. I did not put a scope on them. Maybe a little heavy to carry around.

It's a variable output voltage regulator. Provide vintage amps with the ac that they were designed for. If i read it all correctly.

Vp28 into nv73. L2 with max of 3dB reduction on peaks and that is only for final evaluation.

By the way, Dan probably has the same HD upgrade from complete production tool kit that I have. Avid stopped selling it beginning with PT 11. It's still listed on their site. You can upgrade to PT12HD if you have CPT2. I would hope they would honor what is on the site, but we know how that goes. I have CPT2 and have thought about trading up before they nix it.

Well, figured out my problem. I was having a major pc melt down. Apparently something in windows update got screwed up when I last put it online. Was causing all kinds of havoc with the resources.
It also helps to go over your routing again and again.

Dunno about PT inserts, but are things looking correct on the routing grid for all ins and outs? Levels showing on the grid as well? Yup, everything looks right and meters correctly, just no sound. I eventually had random issues with everything. PT crashed a million times, random clocking noise on the digital outputs, unsupported buffer size...ect. very frustrating. It worked great until I tried to insert, then find a solution to the insert problem. I did the firmware update aswell. Was there an issue with that?

Reviving this, cause I have a odd issue. I have submitted to Motu, but also wanted to post here.
I got my 16a installed and basic operation is going well and working great. My problem is hardware inserts inside of Protools 9 (I know I know). I have levels on the 16A I/O meters, and levels at my hardware, but it is not passing through back into PT mixer.

There's something very nice about this pre (still talking about the 560) so I got curious about the PMV70. Got a small royalty payment today so I read it as a sign that I should go ahead and place an order :-) Don't know when, but I'll be back with a report and perhaps some files Beating me to it... I really don't need any more pre's..... this is what I had to tell myself for long enough to buy new converters. Now onto a new computer, then back to comps and eqs and pres.

Question...
I don't have my 16a in my hands yet, but I was reading the updated manual and it sounded like it stated that any of the ADAT ports can be selected as optical spdif.
Can anyone verify this? I thought it was only ADAT 1-8.

Vinegar and water solution works for infection stuff, follow it with a little alcohol to evaporate the water off. H2o2 works well, but I have a suspicion that it may do some other things that aren't as good at the same time. Hot saline solution works aswell. I have tried the special ear cleaner and was not that impressed, felt like it left a coating in the ear. I had terrible ear infections growing up so I have been through it all to try and keep them clean and uninfected. Just glad I have large ear canals that don't alow large wads to build up.
