If you're looking for closed-back cans, I love my Neumann NDH-20. I've been a life-long Beyerdynamics fan and have several of theirs, inlcuding the T1, but I like my Neumanns better.

Yes, but that goes for a lot of other plug-in companies too...

...I have too many plugs of theirs I never use .... You can hardly blame Universal Audio for that, right?

Mine were sold as powerstrips. If I was looking for a conditioner, I wouldn't buy a $100 powerstrip. Serious conditioners cost serious money. The furman rackmount power strips all have "power conditioner" in their name, except the D-10. Its not until the prestige series that they actually do power conditioning though. But you're right, my strips are now sold as power conditioners, which they're not...

The furman rackmount power strips all have "power conditioner" in their name, except the D-10. Its not until the prestige series that they actually do power conditioning though. I have M-10x strips. When I bought them years ago, they were sold as powerstrips with an overload safety function. They have worked without problems for many years now. I have also looked at higher quality Furman units (around 800€) that were recommended by people who are more knowledgeable than me (and are un-biased by GS-level opinions or grumpy 'know-it-all' attitude). Supposedly better still are the high-end models, such as the Furman P-6900 or the Kikusui PCR500. Those, however, run into a few thousand bucks. As I said, serious conditioners cost serious money.
So far, I haven't seen the need for regulating electric power here in my place, however, guitar amps, especially vintage tube amps, apparently benefit from conditioners that are able to regulate and adjust voltage and mains frequencies.

I have a few of their rackmounted powerstrips. They work and have never given me any trouble. They are not expensive and reliable. What more do you want? If they're sold as power strips, not much. However if they claim to be "conditioners", which they are often sold as, I expect them to condition. And they don't. Mine were sold as powerstrips. If I was looking for a conditioner, I wouldn't buy a $100 powerstrip. Serious conditioners cost serious money.

Don't know if this was mentioned already. Their Pultec plugins are pretty affordable now...

I have bought a bunch of brainworx and Plugin Alliance stuff in the past. In fact, I love their stuff and would buy more anytime. However, I have never ever received any mails with vouchers. I wonder why. I have now contacted their support team, waiting for an answer. Meanwhile, thanks to tasteliketape for supplying the codes.
Have you subscribed their newsletter, if nope you won't get the mail.
I got the mail but the vouchers are missing that's funny too.....
No, I don't subscribe newsletters from anybody. Who needs Spam? Sales vouchers, however, should be sent separately from marketing/sales mails, don't you think?

I don't master my stuff myself, I use Abbey Road, always the same guy. However, when I was there last week, he told me about the Waves Abbey Road Mastering chain plugin. He said it was really good and very close to the TG hardware he uses. He also uses a Manley VariMu, Massive Passive EQ and PrismSound and Weiss EQs. Some of those are available as plugins, so you could build your own Abbey Road chain. Not sure if this answers your question...

RIP and have a safe journey.

Ok, got ya. Well, it doesn't sound wimpy to me, it sounds pretty punchy in the mix to my ears. But anyway, my post was supposed to highlight Eric's uses of Soothe and Spiff on various instruments.

I love Soothe on vocals and electric guitars. If you want to find out what it can do, check out Eric Valentine's video on his production with Slash. And while you're at it, check what Spiff does to his bass track. Spiff is now definitely on my list.
Off topic: In this video, he's also comparing the Lisson Grove plugin to his Unfairchild hardware. Tempting - both of them Started watching.. Waited for the big hit.. What a wimpy, wimpy snare drum sound for a track that wants to sound so big. Yes, the 10 second attention span... Wait until he mixes the wimpy snare with the overheads.

The good thing about Eric's videos is, you can see his settings, which frequencies he looks at and how he treats them. I have copied his settings for certain plugins in the past and used that as a starting point for my tracks. Very helpful.

I'm using the Fryette Power Station 2 right now, which is amazingly flexible and sounds great. Alternatively, the SPL attenuators (Reducer and Cabulator) are also great, I have them both. However, I've always used loadboxes with real cabs. Clearsonic shields really help to reduce volume in the room.

One thing I learned about instruments is - you don't get bang for the buck, you get what you pay for. I thought I was happy with a budget guitar, until I played an expensive one. There are lots of inexpensive and good instruments, G&L, certain Epiphones, but if you want to feel inspired playing a guitar, you need a good, high-quality instrument. And that doesn't come for cheap. Good parts, quality material, experienced labor and artisanal skills have a price. The same goes for all other studio gear, btw. You don't get the 'mojo' of a Neve or Pultec for cheap.

I have completely gone away from Superior Drummer and only use real drums now. SD sounds too good, too clinical, too polished compared to real drums, especially those recorded in a (my) less that ideal environment. And that would be my only complaint with this song. As Blackdawg said, the drums sound a bit robotic.
That said, I love Wiz' voice and songs, just beautiful, as usual...
And - whatever works for you is good!

Just a heads-up: The Kush AR-1, as well as all other Kush plugins, are on sale right now. $74 for the AR-1 sounds pretty sweet...
