The DSL 50 (JCM 2000) was my first Marshall amp. I still have it and love it, even though I now have a '79 JMP 50, an '88 Plexi reiusse and a Silver Jubilee too. My DSL is the UK-built model with a spring reverb tank, not the later one that came from Asia with digital reverb. Jeff Beck used to play it too, he had a couple on stage back in the day.

U87 all the way, vintage or AI, doesn't matter.

I have used Vovox for years for all my studio cabling, including basses and guitars.

What keeps you from bouncing various snares, kicks and toms from SD3? I also have a big library. Sometimes I just use the room samples under my own snare recording. I know it's work and if you have to make a living from studio work, it probably takes too long, but I always bounce samples I like. Thankfully, I don't have to make money with my work anymore, I do it for the fun of it. Working your studio to earn a living is a different ballgame, I know.

that would work if you have three or four...but I guess if I wanted to be able to really sample lots of the library I’d have to use tracker with SD True, you always trigger the same sample. However, I never use the sample on its own, I mix it under my original recording, so it just adds the flavour.

Is there any way to convert some of these to tci files? Maybe it’s just easier to pull up an instance of Superior and then use tracker. It just takes up a lot of resources in the middle of the mix. Guess you could bounce the audio when you’re done. You can bounce an SD3 hit as a wav file and then use the Trigger Instrument Editor to create a .tci file and just stick it in whatever folder you want to go find it in Trigger. That's what I do. I bounce a hit to a wav file and simple load that file in Trigger. Works like a charm.

Telefunken M80 on top, also a vintage AKG C451c paired with a 57 sounds nice. Mojave MA-201 or U87 on the side

Looks interesting, especially at that price. I also would have preferred an internal PSU, like my BAE 1028 have, but those are about four times the Heritage price. Funny that it doesn't even appear on the Heritage website. Must be really new

Thank God, this Tommy character can bully all he wants, but nobody but me decides which mics I use and buy.

Your Clariphonic seems to be different than mine, though...

I don't compress while tracking, but later run the vocals through an 1176 followed by a Manley VariMu. Love the 1176 for a lot of stuff. But that's outboard, not plugins. I suppose you could easily build that chain with plugins.

Thanks, I'll have to check that out. I have the Clarity knob at 11 o'clock with the Silk setting for mixes. How do you set the Lift/Open and Tight/Diffuse switches for vocals?
I have a few Dolby A units with modified cards for that old Dolby Vocal Stressor trick, but I bet the Clariphonic makes it easier and smoother.

I have the hardware. Use it on cymbals and on the mixbus. miklo, how do you use it on vocals? Add some shine on top?

DOn't know what mics they are or if they're responsible, but possibly the best way to screw up a live vocal sound or piano sound I've heard on German TV. Normally German TV had awesome sound. These look like some of the cheaper Beyer mics from back in the day. And on top fo that, I really don't like them - just to remove all doubt so Johnkenn doesn't accuse me of being vague. I’m seriously wondering if the music was recorded at some gig and the mics are prop shop mics. No, Beat Club was always live performances. I never missed a single show back then...

My EZ Bass player lives 5 minutes away. He's got ears, skills, great hands, Fender, Rickenbacker and Music Man basses and an Ampeg rig. That's all I need.

I'm not sure this qualifies as a ride, but I always liked the Zildjian Mega Bell Ride that Joey Kramer uses. Just for that bell.

Any John Bonham track from the first 2 LP's. Those cymbals sound amazing. Absolutely, yes. And his ride with rivets on Stairway. Sizzle for days.

Yeah, I hope at least some people change their outlook on life, our so-called social system and our economy. This is Planet Earth's way of telling us that we must change. Get rid of money and power greed. Treat all souls, human, animals and plants, fair. An economy that is built on greed, war, slavery and opression is not sustainable. Some people just see it as an opportunity for more of the same. Yes. And some see that we need a change.

We're okay here in Germany. Staying at home most of the time. Thank God we moved from the big city to the country with a garden, fresh air and the chance to go out. Must be hell staying at a city apartment now. My wife's uncle died from the virus, but the rest of the family is fine... so far. Stay healthy, guys, this is not just your average flu.
