Ok, I had to grab a pair of Next Generation Acoustics Acoustifusers that were $150 for both on Facebook Marketplace. The walnut stain matches the side panels on my Auditronics console so I'm going to put them on the front wall, between the speakers, with just enough of a gap for my wall mount for my computer monitor. One of those "I think this is meant to be" things

I just emailed with them the other day and they are 6-8 week out from having the EQ-6S back in stock...put myself on the wait list. I used the Maag EQ4 plugin all the time, and a mastering engineer I've worked with ditched his Maag EQ4M for the High Voltage Audio and that's a good enough endorsement for me.

Beyerdynamic M 130 and M88TG incoming from Thomann and a Neumann U47 FET from StudioCare. Couldn't resist. But I'm cutting myself off until I sell some of the stuff I have listed. I am, after endless tweaking of my home studio space, considering a pair of SVS subwoofers as my next purchase. After several conversations its probably the only way to solve the nulls in my space. I've tried so many room arrangements, sound treatment, speakers...it seems like for the price and the handy app they are the way to go. ericn is there anything more budget friendly you'd recommend? Used is fine. I can’t find anything that equals no less beats the SVS micros near the price, if your local Bestbuy has them maybe give the 2000 a listen they ain’t bad just slower and I can always tell where the 2Ks are crossing over, they also round the transients. The SVS are great but my trick of using the little Harris labs passive filters as the high pass once you find the crossover freq really keeps your monitors sounding like your monitors. I showed that trick to a guy who does high dollar home theater installs and said his clients now think he walks on water. Great advice, thanks Eric. I think, considering how well they hold their value, will get a new pair direct from SVS and give them a try. Those Harris filters are just little barrel adapter things right?

Klanghelm is interesting in that it seems to do one of the things a desk does, which is add a bit of crosstalk which weirdly makes things wider but also more connected. But it doesn’t really have a “sound” or “box tone” to me
I’ve been interested in grabbing another ZOD to use on a mix buss…and I guess a Silver Bullet 😆
It’s a constant chase for what we are wanting to hear
I’m mixing a record and it’s been all in the box and for fun I thought I’d stem it out on a the Trident 80 at the studio. I liked the in the box mix better…which was a bit surprising and has kind of got me off the idea of a summing mixer and back to something like the Silver Bullet which just adds some tone and transformers.
Eventually I’m going to get my Auditronics hooked up again. I will say with outboard/a console is it nice just grabbing an EQ and being like “that’s better”. The Auditronics would be good for that since it’s just a couple frequencies per band (if you’ve used the Purple Audio ODD that what they are based on). I remember the last time I had it hooked up I pulled up a session and just did a quick mix and was like “oh, that was easy”
Anyway.

In condenser world I’ve had luck with a U67’s and U87’s, which are great on other things so if you are someone who just needs a couple mics to record everything those aren’t bad options. Low price point would be an AKG 414-EB or ULS, Sony C38B, or Gefell UM70. Another surprise candidate would be a Groove Tube MD1.

Bought matt@iaa Square State Solid State equalizers. I've been wanting to try them since they were all the rage on TapeOp when they came out.
I also sold my PMC's and paid of both our cars and still have money left over. It's a hell of a nice feeling not having a car payment anymore!

Would these help with the RF/high frequency noise in VL37’s? I like the microphones but it can be problematic and I’ve tried every combination of preamps and cable options in the studio.

Nah, this thing is meant to eliminate the boing and grit of a typical spring verb. I compare it favorably to a plate, and use it in similar places. Then why not use a plate if plate-like is what you actually want. To me, bong and grit are reasons to use a spring, not really things to avoid. If it can't do Dick Dale it ain't much of a spring! And you can always use a limiter on the input... Can't fit a plate reverb in a rack. Or a mobile truck (a market when these and the AKG BX-10 and similar were made). The 305 and the AKG BX stuff are their own thing, and do something a guitar spring reverb (or, for that matter, an Orban, Furman, Sound Workshop, and countless others that are guitar spring reverb tanks in a box) or a plate reverb can't do. Variety is the spice of life! The Arturia Spring 636 does the Dick Dale thing nicely. I think that plugin is a bit under-rated/unknown.

I have a lot of Fuse stuff, everything except the plate reverb, delay, drum remixer, flywheel, champ guitar amp, and the channel strip (which I didn’t know existed until today). VPRE-562A, VQP-258A, and VQA-154 get used the most. The compressors are a bit hit or miss, they have pretty unique attack and release characteristics and sometimes they work and sometimes they don’t. The VCL-25A is the most flexible/easy to use. VPRE-2C is the most useful of the preamps in my experience. I also think the guitar pedal bundle is well worth $19…or less when it’s on sale. Great Big Muff, chorus, and the El Germano can do some cool gated things with the bias control
They usually have a pretty hefty discount a few times a year.
Oh and I bought the new spring, threw it in the mix, and it sounds great. Using it on a record already

Occasionally there are better than half off sales but E27 is great, it gets used on every session. I also use OldTimer a lot, and I just grabbed Infinistrip because they sent me a “special” offer for $60 and it’s killer. Still need to get familiar with all it can do but that fact that it’s zero latency is mind blowing considering how it sounds.
PreCursor 2, SpringBox, Twin-L, and Saturator are all useful to have as well. But I think a lot of their best plugins are integrated into InfiniStrip so it’s definitely worth demoing. I’ve not used Impressor but heard good things

I have a Spectra 1964 712 amplifier, that I was using with my PMC IB2S that are (hopefully) off to a new owner tomorrow. I’ve also had a Bryston 4B-ST that I sold once I got the Spectra. Even if the Spectra beats out the Adcom, I still need a dedicated amp for the Reftones. But it be great if it sounded great with both, then I’d likely sell the Spectra. The only knock on the little 535 is it’s only 50 watts, but at a distance of 2 meters with either the NS10’s or Auratones that should be able to produce 101 dB, in theory. Right now the only Adcom in my house is a 545 with a broken binding post I should either sell or send to Jim. Since buying the BEL 2002 I haven’t plugged in another amp other than the little Quested 25 watt per side or one of the Stewart world 2.1’s in the live rack. I keep the little Quested to demonstrate for most applications you don’t need the power of the BEL or the Rack of Stewart’s, unless you like the idea of going deaf. I don't have clients at home, and I don't listen loud, so I think I'll be ok with the lower wattage.

Bought an Adcom GFA-535 amplifier for $30 and sent it straight to Jim Williams. It has two outputs with a source select switch on the front, so I’m going to use it to power my Reftone and NS10’s. Streamlined baby! What were you using before? And let us know what you think. I have a Spectra 1964 712 amplifier, that I was using with my PMC IB2S that are (hopefully) off to a new owner tomorrow. I broke down and bought UAD Ultimate 10. Fingers crossed Hitsville gets added to Ultimate 11, as well as some more options to the Spark line. I’m already getting a lot of use out of some of the new plugins. FATSO Jr saved the day on some aggressive cymbal transients on a rock song faster and easier than anything I’ve used in the past, the 176 did a nice thing on the lead vocal, and the Neve 2254 might finally be the compressor I’ve been looking for on bass in the box (also using it on the kick drum, adds some weight and tames it nicely). But using Captiol Chambers and Culture Vulture demos on some mixes earlier this week really made me pull the trigger. $999 is a lot of spend on plug ins but I’ve got UAD hardware at 3 studios and when I think about it that way, it’s a bit of a bargain Where did you get it for a g? I'm seeing 2. Direct from UAD. I owned enough plugins already to get a discount

I bought Auto-Align and Vocalign from Thomann (as well as Coles 4038's and all the Beyerdynamic microphones I own). Software is emailed immediately. When you bought the mics, did you get hit with an "import" processing fee? When I ordered kits from AML I had to pay UPS (who handled delivery state side) an import fee. Wondering if this applies to Thomann shipments to the USA as well. With the Coles I did (around $40) but they were $2000 for a matched pair with adapters instead of ~$3000 so it was worth it. I didn't with my M201's or M160's

I bought a Pearl 13x3 maple piccolo snare. Why? I don’t know. Just for the one in a hundred songs that call for that sound This one? I had a gig Sunday morning. Showed up and realized I forgot my snare. 😂😂 Jumped on Facebook marketplace and had thus a half hour later. Sounds pretty good. Mine is a natural maple color but that’s the one. I figure it’s a cheap option if someone wants the “One Headlight” snare sound without buying a Noble and Cooley

Been thinking about giving Console 1 a try (although with Pro Tools). I've got to make my home set up more economic and get less dependent on the mouse. I bought a S1 but my desk kind of sucks and it sits too high and it's too deep. Furniture is such a headache Don't bother. Integration with Pro Tools sucks. Mine has been sitting in the garage for probably 2 years. Damn
