No price yet, but this will be a great option for new mastering engineers. I have their EQ-6S and its really nice especially for the price. So this will be one to watch. Edit: www.highvoltageaudio.net/NEQ.php#mainGreat price!

Blackdawg - can you share more about the EQ-6s? Thanks! Sure. For those that don't know, its this unit: www.highvoltageaudio.net/EQ6S.htmlIt's a fixed frequency and Q boost or cut EQ with 5 bands and 1 Shelf. While normally I'm not a fan of an EQ you can't move frequency selection this one is marvolous. On the surface it looks like the frequencies selected are a bit odd. 650Hz? But no, it is wonderfully useable. Everything is ins 0.5dB steps with decent switches. They are not the most high quality switches in the world, but they still have a decent feel to them. Not elmas or even Grayhills but not a super cheap switch either. This makes recall very easy. I honestly find the 650hz, 160hz, and the boost shelf the most handy(often even in conjunction with the 2.5k Bell). 40kHz is crazy high but it does in fact add something wonderful to the signal, i usually end up around 3-4dB with 40kHz which is nuts but something added there for sure. 2.5k is great to just brighten things up a bit and 160hz is great to cut some bloom/mud. But 650hz is the most interesting. Sometimes just a bit of boost on this selection really fills out a mix. Or sometimes just a small cut opens up a mix. Its one of the coolest things about it IMO. Not what I was expecting. It is a true stereo unit and tracks quite well channel to channel. I only use it on masters basically or occasionally stereo bus stuff. It only costs about 1150 USD shipped or did when I bought it which is crazy good price for such a high quality piece. Sound wise it is very transparent I'd say but still beautiful and not boring. Basically I wouldn't relate "transparent" with "boring". But it's also not "exciting" as its fully transformer less and colorless. No fancy Iron in it or Opamps. They team there is very responsive and happy to talk shop. Everything shipped quickly and it took maybe a week to get from the land down unda to Montana which is pretty great I think. I certainly will be waiting to see full details on the NEQ as it it looks like something I'd love and it'll be just as beautiful sounding I'm sure. I'm hoping it'll be just around 3k or less even possibly with the exchange rate.

For your current EQ, site states $1350 aud, under a grand USD, can that be right ?

It is right and it is a steal and I have one in my mastering rig along with my porter grinder. It is very useful as a companion to a proper parametric mastering eq.

Great to have you hear from down unda! I am going to be saving my pennies for this. Just bought a Rhodes sadly that ate into my funds for this. But really excited to get one.

I just emailed with them the other day and they are 6-8 week out from having the EQ-6S back in stock...put myself on the wait list. I used the Maag EQ4 plugin all the time, and a mastering engineer I've worked with ditched his Maag EQ4M for the High Voltage Audio and that's a good enough endorsement for me.

Thx Sean !
I am thinking seriously about this model too. The new big brother is,unfortuneately beyond my price point at this time.
I had known about the Night and Magg eqs, so,respect this pedigree. I had some pultec clones( not expensive ones), but they didn’t stay.
More elaborate, featured filled mastering eqs, are legitimately much more money. I like the many multibands idea, as well.
Do people have any other recommendations for a mastering eq, as it seems the HVA price/value combo is hard to beat ?

The TK Audio TK-Lizer 2 is a great value and probably the most affordable was to get M/S if that's important to you. Probably the closest comparable EQ to the HVA price wise would be the Goly PG Porter Grinder
