Those old Gibson LG-2 guitars record wonderfully as well. Wish I had picked one up when everybody thought they were junk about 10-15 years ago.

Wife and I loving it here.
We both saw her at the same show about 3 years before we met. Pretty funny when we figured that one out

What are the moral and ethics problems with the Cl1b? Believe he means he won’t copy a contemporary design. Ahhhhh got it. I read it wrong and was quite confused haha.

OK, thanks to recent threads here, I just ordered a Latch Lake micKing 1100. And I also picked up one of those Beyerdynamic M201 N(C) mics off of that eBay seller. Not sure whether my wallet wants to thank RGO or not... Oh, but seriously, thanks to bricejchandler for the dynamic mic shootout! Those were really nice examples. Makes me want to get a Beyerdynamic M88, too. You guys got me too - picked up a pair of those 201’s... Hey at least we are in good company 😁

I’ve been in 2 studios with trash cans that ultimately wound up having big problems with them.
Save yourself the headaches and get the new mini.

NJ / NYC hospitals and morgues are hell on earth right now. If it’s not as bad where you are then consider yourselves lucky and I hope it doesn’t get as bad for you as it is here this week.

I had good luck with the stock Gretsch branded Filtertron in another instrument. This TV Classic is a really great pickup though. You can sort of tell you get what you pay for in terms of the tonality. I like them both but the TV makes me go "ughhh" a little more. I was looking at those blade ones too. I grabbed the Classic because it was on sale (blemish). My original plan was the blade one though. By the way good move on the Exponential plugins. Those are special / next level plugs IMO. They stand out from the crowd. I go back-and-forth on my stock FilterTrons. Mostly I think they just lack definition when pushed. They kind of fuzz out in a cheap-ish sounding way. My 6120 is kind of weird, too. Long story, but I bought it used, sight unseen by necessity - I was moving overseas in a matter of days. (This was back in 2009.) When it arrived, those tall FilterTron pole pieces were essentially touching the strings. I took it to my primary luthier, and he said the pickups couldn't be lowered any further without him carving into the top's braces. He said this indicated the neck angle was too shallow coming from the factory. But then he had the bright idea of turning the pole pieces upside down, which gave a bit more clearance. And that's how they've been ever since. I'm slightly worried that if I order any TV Jones, it might be even taller than the stock FilterTrons on my guitar, which would absolutely not work under any circumstance. Well, unless the top's braces are carved into, apparently. I'm not super keen on doing that. I suppose a neck reset would also address the problem, but it's one of those floating fingerboard neck joints. I'm not sure how easy it is to reset a neck like that?? What year is the guitar? If it’s got a poly finish and tite bond in the neck pocket it’s not gonna be an easy reset, but it can be done. The raised fingerboard doesn’t make it anymore difficult really. That sounds like a really odd situation with that guitar...

Best I’ve ever heard are the Senn HD800. Stupid expensive, but if it’s where you’d spend your time mixing I guess they would be worth it.

20+ years and still on Fender Super Bullets 10's. No other strings work for me. Have them on all 3 of my Teles, and would on my Gretsch except for the bullet ends... I think Yanuzello (sp?) takes bigsby tailoieces and mods them by drilling out the pins so you can string through the wrap around instead of using the pins to hold the ball ends. I always wanted to do that but don’t have a drill press or time to do it. Seems like a really slick mod!

Still running a 2012 maxed out mini. Fan barely ever comes on unless I'm doing really intensive VI's and the room is hot. I have a very quiet battery powered fan that I turn on behind my racks to pull air through them and it keeps the mini fan from turning up to turbo level.
Will most likely get another Mini when this one stops handling my needs.

I will admit that before Sonarworks, it was a mess. I know some don’t think that’s a solution, but I’m getting killer results. You’ve also got a badass set of ears my man! And have been doing critical listening a long time. That all adds up.

So when I went to the local guitar shop to impulse buy an Iridium and a J Rockett Dude pedal, they were sold out of both but, the did have a brand new 2020 Gibson 1960 Hummingbird Reissue. OMG. This guitar is stupid. It’s even better than the new Sheryl Crow signature C&W they have in there. I hate the people at this guitar shop for doing this. A newly made Gibson acoustic that is that good is like a hens tooth. Go gobble that thing up and enjoy it. You won’t soon find another like it!!

I feel like every system with a sub, aside from professional studios, have something screwed up about them. Either the room isn’t right and you get massive nodes, or you get huge blooms of a certain frequency. Or it’s a ported speaker with a sub and then I’m just completely turned off by both. It’s so distracting I just turn subs off when I’m in a room with them.
My monitors go pretty low, and when I’m working on something with low end info that goes below that, I use good cans to check.
If your room isn’t set up to deal with sub information, it’s going to confuse you and leave you guessing. That’s a worse position imo than mixing on speakers you know well and then checking on headphones, in the car, etc etc etc.

Yup, they do exactly that. They glide off the strings but stay in your sweaty paws. I have no idea how it works, especially since they are smooth to the touch. And somebody much smarter than me figured out that some weird ass textile he worked with would make an incredible guitar pick (only for some, apparently). I’ve got no interest in purchasing you a pick so that you can either dismiss it or enjoy it. Or enjoy it but dismiss it because of the cost. I’m merely saying that yeah - they work. They sound great, they feel great, you won’t drop it, and you most likely will be able to put less stress on your hand. As a 37 year old, it helps with some wrist problems I’ve had in the past. I’m sure it would help you out as well. Look man, I’m merely suggesting you give it a shot. I called BS on it myself until I tried them. I’m glad I gave them a shot because they have improved my playing, my touch, and my connection to the instrument. If that’s not important to you, or if you think you’ve already got that with what you use, with the added bonus of being able to dismiss dropped picks because that’s your thing and it gets you off during your performance, then keep riding that feel good train. I’m all for it. Just don’t tell me I’m wrong if you’ve never given one a shot. Oh yeah... many of the most well regarded Mandolin players these days do a great job of the chop with a Blue Chip and wouldn’t have it any other way. (No, I don’t know the owner. I paid full price for the ones I own, and nobody in their right mind would give me free guitar picks, or anything else for that matter) Well, that's a hell of a testamonial. You've actually managed to get my curiousity up, which is not easy to do with something like this. If I still remember when the financial system normalizes I might chck one out. What's the thinnest size they make? I usually use a medium/thin, about .63mm. Check their website - he sizes them differently than by going mm. I used normal fender medium picks for years and years and the Blue Chip I have is far thicker, but I adjusted quickly. It’s honestly worth a shot. You could sell it if you figured you didn’t like it and only be out a few bucks in the end.

Personal responsibility would keep you from losing these picks. If you read the literature about them, they are incredibly difficult to drop, even with sweaty hands/fingers because of the material. They also at the same time glide off of strings incredibly easy making for a quick stroke. These things actually change the way you use your right hand. I stopped using my real tortoise picks when I got these things and haven’t turned back (don’t get all crazy on me I had a family member gift me a handful of them many many years ago). They will seriously last you forever. I’ve only personally seen 2 peope wear them down, and they are both serious bluegrass rippers that never seem to put down their instrument. So they "glide off the strings" but won't "glide" out of my fingers?
Really?
Send me samples and if they pan out I'll believe it. If not, to me it's just more hype.
And if they pan out I'll sing their praises to high heaven.
"Personal responsibility" would interfere with my performance. I don't need to worry about "responsibility" for a stupid $35 - $75 pick while I should be concentrating on the song.

I hope so, because everything at the top of the charts sounds the same, whether it's pop. country, R&B, etc... So true - this is my complaint. What’s the difference in Dan and Shay and Justin Bieber? Twice the amount of awful?
