I'm sorry, the only mic preamp worth 14K has 24-32 other mic pres packaged with it, and includes EQ, aux sends, bussing and a master section.

Well, no, of course it's not for real. It's PT Barnum. That example has floated around for sale several times before the latest 'rebuild'. Never more than $1K in untested condition.

I’d love to know who this guy is. He lives one town from where I grew up.

You can ask what ever you want for something, it’s only worth what somebody is stupid enough to pay for it.

It's always funny to me what people think is rare; they usually have no idea. Many times it's moderately common, like this piece. Sure, if you 'need' one and go looking, it might take you a year to find one for sale, but that doesn't mean it's rare, it means you don't know where to look. 'Rare' are the things that took me 20 years to find....I coulda already owned a dozen or more of this thing.

Offered seller $55 . .. . automatically rejected. Damn. Would've been a lovely conversation piece.

One of these just showed up on my local craigslist. It includes the mics and doesn't look like a terrible deal but I know absolutely nothing about these amplifiers. Still a single mono output, yeah?

they can be fun. mono out, you need to lose the mixer system which is in front of the input transformer, unbalanced. and may be 50 ohm instead of 150/250. then it may still need other parts replaced. at least the PSU is external and can be parked away from it, most of these things with internal PSU have hum you can't lose. collector price. easier to build something similar from vintage parts that does what you actually need.
