I have a pair of Chromas. To me the only artifact is obvious distortion, mostly in the low frequencies and drum hits. I think if you A/B with and without the SB at the same subjective listening level, you'll be fine.

Rebal is so improved it will make you rethink when to apply de-bleed. Maybe I need the upgrade after all... I've been sent a finished track that has some existing programmed drums (light brushes) to overdub real drums on top of it, mix it and "master" it. It turned out great, but if you know what the original track was, you can probably hear some of the old drums here and there. Would you confidently use rebalance here to turn down those drums a little bit? Or would it turn "artifacty" and lose the quality?

Is there a discount for the upgrade from RX7 to RX8 ? I think i may have missed it somewhere on their website. There is, still good for 3-4 days I think. It's on your Izotope account, but I can see it in other stores. So you can shop around for the best upgrade price, just make sure you pick the correct versions.

Redeye 3D is great, and reamping with it sounds perfect.
Surprisingly enough, the lowly Klark Teknik DIs sound fantastic to my ears. Somehow they did right with their transformers. And they have a ton of versatility.
I have two stereo and one mono. In the studio I only use the stereo ones for keyboards because I have other options.
The mono one is on my live rig for acoustic guitar, after beating my trusty LR Baggs para EQ. I like heavy handed, percussive rhythm playing, and the KT has better transient response and headroom. Go figure!

Mogaines rock my world. They make my ribbons sound better, and the SM7B too. I’ve tested gain matching with and without, it’s not just the volume increase.

Ah, true! I have the first version, yes. I really should find some time to use it on more sources, but I can’t imagine NOT using it on bass! I have tried it on vocals and guitars, worked great.

I only have one Weight Tank which is parked on bass for mixing (I track with an 1176). It sounds glorious. I should use if for more sources... I just wanted to point out that there’s no provision for stereo linking, so probably not ideal for the stereo buss. Although I’ve sometimes run independent compressors in stereo and it’s not the end of the world

Softube's Console1. I get to use ears only for more decisions and look/read/use the mouse for fewer decisions. Actually I’m going to change my reply to this too. There was a definite “before and after” with Console 1.

Very interesting question, and hard to give a single answer. I think my APS Aeon + Sonarworks would be the correct reply. BlackBox Analog HG-2 would be a close second.

Get them straight from Stager. Essentially they are half the stereo mount.
There are 3 versions of the mic now, yours is mkII. MkIII was just announced this week.

I don’t use it but I think Soothe is the “magic fix” you are looking for. And Izotope RX for the AC noise.

That’s true. However, for some reason they really got it right with this one, or maybe I got lucky! No farting bass, no crossover distortion, no mods needed at all! Well the 12AY7 was a bit unbalanced/noisy, so I changed it.

Tweed Deluxe! The current 57 Custom reissue is fantastic. The Marshall Origin 20H (get the head, not the combo) is hard to beat for the price if you pair it with the right speaker.

Can't a guy own some Stagers AND some other cheaper ribbons as well? Trust me, the Stagers are happening. I just want some additional ribbons as well. Before I got the Stagers I only had 3 ribbons: Royer R101, Avantone CR-14 and the Reslo "beeb" (restored by Xaudia). They all saw fairly regular use. Now I only break them out if the Stagers are already placed in one instrument (say, piano, drum room or a couple guitar amps) and I really don't want to move them!

Came here to suggest DPA 4060 too! I've only used them on uprights, with the boundary mount and gaffer tape, but they sound great!

I'm planning on getting a couple of the Stagers in the near future Get one SR-2N (if not both) now and thank me later. Once I got my pair there was no need to keep using any "cheap but cool" ribbon... or to save up for more expensive ones!

Were warm audio products ever really that impressive in the first place? I don't see why they shouldn't expand, they obviously have the means to do so. The original Tone Beast was, in my opinion. But that was a LONG time ago!

I drank the Slate VTM koolaid and always put it on every track and the master before starting a mix. It used to be VCC as well but since I got Console 1 I do my console saturation there. And plenty of hardware, of course!

So here I was thinking that I really need a “vibe” EQ with nice transformers, mostly to shape my (real) piano tracks and open up those ribbon mics a bit. Also for general utility of course, that’s what the patchbay is for! Most of my hardware is dedicated to designed instruments and I’m well covered for drums, bass, guitars and vocals Well, I think this could be the ticket! Any thoughts?
