I know the triple setting on these kind of comps usually doesn't get used as much but If you ever need to really clamp down on a vocal try this setting on your V-Comp or Sta Level and feel free to hit 30db of gain reduction ๐ TRIPLE? ? Whoa. That's like 'pin the meters and hold on for dear life' territory. That's rad Yeah I discovered it on a gospel singer that had the range to break glass ๐

FYI - I typically keep the input knob on my V-COMP parked at 20 (FULL TILT). ๐๐๐

Enough to need to back off what I'm feeding it.... Curious....

I apologize if I missed it in this thread, but can someone post what the attack and release times are on the V-Comp? Thank you! (Love my 2 audio-scape optos, by the way!)

Maybe Iโm not using this thing rightโฆ maybe me too!! ย Hahaha - now, mind you this is on vocals - but I keep the MODE on Double or Single (basically, how much saturation do you want? Less = Single - more = Double). The key is the RECOVERY setting ๐ I usually set it 4th or 3rd from fastest, perhaps 2nd from fastest if itโs the right vocal AND while being on SINGLE mode. On BASS, the full crank thing will introduce some distortion that Iโm not totally into - until I hear it in the context of the mix, and itโs PERFECT. But, YMMV. We all have our own personal sonic preferences โค๏ธ๐๐

I apologize if I missed it in this thread, but can someone post what the attack and release times are on the V-Comp? Thank you! (Love my 2 audio-scape optos, by the way!) No worries brother! It gets a bit confusing (maths) but to break it down as best as I can from memory: 20 (Slowest) 8 6 5 4 3(Fastest) HOWEVER: In DOUBLE or TRIPLE Mode, the recovery times become 70% faster. So, the release times are also dependent upon the 6386's transconductance, making them non-linear - releasing faster at higher amounts of gain reduction. In DUAL mode, another constant is added that adds density and masks the sound of the slower time constants; acting as an AGC or "gain-riding" device. Lots of non-linear, program dependent action happening within the V-COMP!

Hmm, added density, thatโs kinda how I feel trying to figure out gearโs non linear causality!

Wow - audioscape - you are very, very responsive. That is a big consideration to me in making purchases! Mark the Responsive criteria as "Complete" in your AudioScape checklist. "Complete" not only because you have your answer, but because the responsiveness does not stop after inquiry or purchase. It is ongoing regardless of who you are or how long ago you purchased a product. These guys don't just talk customer satisfaction, they live and breathe it. When they say you're part of the AS family that's exactly what they mean. That has been my personal experience.

Well, ok, but man does Charlie ever hog the mash potatoes and gravy at Thanksgiving: sheesh ! How many TIMES do I have to tell you I am SORRY man!! I can't help but mound down those TASTYYYYYYY mashed 'taters! ๐๐ ab101 - gwlee7 - @toddj - awww man, thank you guys so so much for all of the kind words... as Todd mentioned - I / we live and BREATHE this stuff. Timely and thorough communication, knowledge, advice, etc is SO important. These days, sadly, it's so rare to receive GOOD service, let alone 'above and beyond' service; which makes me extremely sad. I've been in sales for well over a decade and an engineer almost twice as long - I know what it's like to be on the OTHER SIDE, getting shitty or short answers to genuine questions or queries for guidance. EVERYONE matters. And I strive to do help our AS FAM out as BEST as I humanly can..๐ These days, it seems like a boutique pro-audio company's success & longevity is almost directly proportional to it's level of customer care, attention and perhaps most importantly - satisfaction (assuming the fundamentals of the product, prices and SONICS live up to or EXCEED what people are expecting and well established). ANYHOW - we're here for the long haul. The long game. We've said this from the beginning and we mean it!!! /endrant - I've got to get back to final testing of the upcoming V1290 Preamp (dudesssss & dudettessss; this thing is going to BLOW your minds!!!)

Friendly reminder - Tomorrow night - 8 p.m. Eastern or Email audio-scape! (Everybody loves Wednesday and Saturday night . . . - great song.)
Great customer service as I said above. I don't know any manufacturer that responds quicker when anyone needs an answer, etc.

โMoney, money, money, moneeeeey!โ Canโt afford everything ! I think this is a good reason to buy audio-scape products when you can. They appear to hold their value well and the initial investment appears to be less than comparable products. May you be blessed with overflowing prosperity.
