I guess Dr Bill we will just have to agree to disagree.! Fair enough. I get called out on this all the time by people who have never experienced modded or new power supply designs as they develop from the ground up. Call me and we'll chat again after you've spent days swapping out capacitors and other power supply components and doing critical listening testing in order to maximize the way your gear sounds - SONICALLY. Cheers, PS - ask Charlie @ audioscape about what power supplies bring to the table and whether or not they affect the sonics.

I’ve got a Stamchild on the way here in a few days. I’ll be able to out it up beside some pretty heavy hitters in the tube dept... (Retro STA Level, innertube audio dual atomic squeezebox). I’ll be interested to see how it performs. As long as it sounds amazing I’m cool with a tube or solid-state power supply. Looking forward to trying this one out. Sweet Darren!! Enjoy!!! Look forward to your thoughts.

Dr Bill, I never said psu were irrelevant, was just commenting on what Josh had said specific to the Fairchild build!
Also, why I said would be good to hear Josh’s clips.

Dr Bill, I never said psu were irrelevant, was just commenting on what Josh had said specific to the Fairchild build! Also, why I said would be good to hear Josh’s clips. And my comments were not ANTI-Josh or ANTI his 670. They were clearly stated as generalized statements as to what power supplies do to the sonics of ANY piece of gear you plug in. I think Josh got it after one back and forth. Sorry that doesn't resonate with you. Cheers,

Ya, I didn’t understand why you kept questioning my comment as I was only talking about Josh’s FC build.

I’m hoping someone eventually posts some clips of the Stamchild vs the UAD and/or Waves plugins.

Got my stam SA-670 today. Based on my initial impressions, I can say it was totally worth the very long wait. I’ve tested it on a few stereo sources so far (mixbuss, drumbuss) and it has better stereo image than my Innertube Audio Dual Atomic Squeezebox which is an incredible stereo tube compressor. So far the Stam is holding up against and possibly exceeding my best tube gear. It is defined, musical, and sweet. The lows are very nice too. I’m not hearing smearing or looseness in the lows like I do from some tube gear. Big and tight and right. So far so good. Time will be the true test. Can’t wait to test it on some mono sources like vocals and sax. Hats off Joshua - sounds fantastic!

Just gorgeous. That also tells me this is gonna slay on vocals. Compressors that are great on vocals tend to be the best compressors for saxophone as well, and inversely, it goes both ways. This thing is very very nice

Received yesterday #198 can't wait to test it ! Pre-ordered mine in Mid June 2018. Anxiously waiting for a final invoice. I believe only 200 being made before before being dis-continued? Other people jumping the so-called "queue", because they either fully paid this year, unlike myself who was offered a discount to take "advantage?" of being early, or are part of the "in" crowd like you guys.
Where's my Stamchild Josh?

Kindly contact Andreina@stamaudio.com so she can sort this out for you. If there is a mistake we will amend it immediately. Some people ordered mastering switches and others didn't (50-50) so we make what we have available in parts at the time. Other than this we follow orders chronologically. If you need help you can email me at stamaudio@gmail.com Thank you!

Received yesterday #198 can't wait to test it ! Well, some who are perceived as slightly lower mortals also have the Stamchild.... Just to keep this from being an advertisement, here is a real-life mastering stack...the Drawmer S3 acting as minimal limiting but with flawless multiband mastering enablement... then to the Stamchild 670 for full dynamics control. Hard to top. Attachments:

Chip sez:--I am a real 'Dr.' (Ph.D.) physicist with 41 years of audio engineering. I know sound and psychoacoustics. I recommend the Stamchild 670 and don't give a damn whether someone has a Grammy or not;-)

Wish I could hear just one sample of this crushing a drum loop in release setting 1.

Put down a deposit early...but just can’t leave that much money sitting on something I haven’t even heard.
