stiff competition from the CAPI Missing Link which I haven't tried. I'm interested in Peterson's stuff too. I built one of his Line 2 Amp style boxes, well just copied his design, and it's very nice! Different animal monkey, filtering and staging in ML is very hi end, don't think the colour is meant for a tight tolerance 2 buss application??

Yeah I guess the Colour is more of an overdriver, and it's limitations in stereo calibration have been admitted already. I was just thinking maybe you could run a sine wave through a pair and manually calibrate the left and right gains on a visual meter, or something. I've done that with preamp pairs before on stereo buss. I guess it's a little more complicated though, with separate gain and level controls. You could always turn the gain all the way down and start there.

It's the stepped vs constant attenuators, Jeff hand picks resistors to make them wicked accurate from one ML to another, you want tight tolerance between L/R channels IMO

Hey petersongoodwyn , how many pre-orders for these do you have now? I thought there was a counter on the page, but I don't see it now.

I think this is going to be fun. Bought a pair. Me too! Been listening and thinking back and forth and decided to go for four kits.

250 pre-orders. I'm completely floored and grateful for the interest in this product. Final touches and manufacturing prep are coming along swimmingly. Having the extra orders will allow us to do some fun extras, such as anodizing the standoffs black to match the panel and PCB. We've also revamped the front panel based on a brilliant suggestion from Brad McGowan, who's Chop Shop has been receiving some well deserved buzz around here. Instead of using painted switch caps to indicate which colours are installed, we're using RGB bypass LEDs. Their hues are set by three resistors on each colour PCB, so when a colour is installed the LED is automatically set to that colour's color! Picture here: www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=659798750747281Thanks again for everyone's support for Colour so far. I can't frigging wait for you all to get your grubby little hands on these things!

Hey guys, I thought I would chime in and let everyone know that my new company, Louder Than Liftoff, will be designing modules for this platform. I have a few really fun ideas on deck that I think folks will be excited about. I've started working on some prototypes and have been helping Peterson tweak the final design to maximize the potential for both users and designers. Check www.louderthanliftoff.com for details...we'll be adding more info as we make progress. We intend to do a pre-order campaign once we are ready with the first module. So stay tuned! I just need to find some time to get serious about designing...all the Chop Shop interest has been distracting me. Brad

Booya. It's so simple! (If you don't count everything happening inside those chips.)

Are the modules being offered as kits as well, or will they be only available pre-built by the designers?

Can't speak for anyone else, but they'll be available both as kits and assembled from me. As I just said to someone else though, if you are not a DIY person but would like to give it a shot, this would be a great start! It's about as simple as any build can be.

Splain urself B! U designed something for this? Sorry, I'll get someone with nicer hands next time. Oh, the module? Yeah, my little contribution. It's a fuzzer. 'Round about 4% THD at 0dBu. Should add a nice little bit of bite to your bus.

Are the modules being offered as kits as well, or will they be only available pre-built by the designers? The Louder Than Liftoff modules I'm doing will likely only be offered pre-built. That will allow folks to DIY the Palette in an hour or two and then just pop in the Colours and start making music. Brian--your module looks great! I should post a pic of the one I prototyped this weekend. While it's sounding incredible, I'm on the fence whether I'm going to release it for mass consumption in this format. I have other ideas in works though. Brad

Make with the pics I gave mine some good listen today. Definitely does what it's supposed to and sounds pretty cool. Since it's so subtle though, I thought it would be a neat idea to have an on-board jumper for subtle and not subtle (and a third pos for WAY not subtle?). That way you could use it for more crazy applications.

Could you do it with a small 3-way switch instead of a jumper?

Perhaps.. I think I'm actually going to wait until I try it in the Palette rather than hacked together on my bench. Maybe just turning the saturation all the way up will be sufficient.
