The meters are fine here. Might be a PT thing. Also the non HQ settings are also excellent. I'm sometime preferring the non HQ mode on stuff. Makes the comp even more versatile...

I am just not feeling it personally. I really hated what it did to the female vocal.

Lots of tonal qualities that are musical. Easy to use but still powerful. Excellent piece of software.

Great demo. Wow, the distortion sounds sweet. Went for it. I have the other Klanghelm compressors. Haven't used them much. This looks easy to dial in.

I pulled the trigger on this today. I just had a couple of hours with it but it really does sound great. The tube drive sound is very convincing, musical, and thick (if you want it to be.) The layout and working aesthetics are nothing short of award-winning. This thing MAKES you want to dig into it, and that's rarely the case with with plugins. It's beautiful in every way.

I am just not feeling it personally. I really hated what it did to the female vocal. There are a lot of options under the hood of the full priced $26 version. I'd be surprised if you couldn't get it to behave in a way you liked.

Well, it's official...not everyone likes it. I personally think it's the best plugin compressor I've used.

Well, it's official...not everyone likes it. I personally think it's the best plugin compressor I've used. It could be. I guess a little bit of time will tell. Meanwhile, you can bet that meetings are taking place at some of the bigger, higher-priced plugin factories. When someone invents a product that beats the competition for pennies on the dollar it gets everyone's attention.

Real tube comps are way more buttery and are also more detailed sounding when operating correctly than what this plug sounds like. I fell for the SKNote Sta and it fails badly, too.

I agree on the SKNote Sta, I found it useless, but for $25 I didn't much care. I'll try this one, I just got the link this morning.

I agree that sometimes a plugin just doesn't speak to us. I downloaded the Kotelnikov comp after reading rave reviews and to date haven't used it--it just doesn't sound musical to me. On the other hand, the Klanghelm immediately struck me as a helpful tool. That video is slightly misleading as the narrator gets all stoked when he cranks the plugin to the extremes. It's capable of a lot more subtlety than that, especially in the two more modern variations that are not included on the free one. That said, we don't REALLY know how useful gear will be until we use if for a while and I'm sure this is no exception. What I do know is that of all the comp plugins I own none of them does what this one does.

Decapitator decapitates it as far as I'm concerned. Pissed off I spent the money on it as I never use it.

Henge, you and I are on the same wavelength. I bought the sdrr along with the Mujc and I really don't think I'll use it that much. Was hoping to use on EG's, but I'm not sure I really even like any of the saturation sounds.
Anyway, Randy has great ears, so I don't doubt he's hearing something he doesn't like. I'm excited about this thing mostly for bass and drum bus. Pulling the hpf above the kick and slamming the input then bringing the mix knob way back. Freaking awesome.

I've only tried the free one. Ipedrum hit the nail on the head I think. It sounds good on most things I've tried in moderation. Really good, but doesn't have the same smoothness as the hardware when pushed. It's defiantly got a sweet spot.
Now here's something even this free one beats hardware on... BASS!! Knocks a di bass out of the park. Crank the hell out of it and the distortion is niiiiice.
Sta sounds good on bass too but can't get as much distortion.

Hey Cowboy...You gotta spring for the pay one. The Mix knob and Drive knob are invaluable. You can get that same distortion without crushing it. Also, the HPF is totally necessary for drum bus duties.

Yeah I'm going to buy it. I've spent more on a night of drinking and only had a hangover to show for it.
