I'm not sure if everyone here gets TapeOp or not. I wanted to post a link to the review of the ID DI that indiehouse did for this months magazine. Thanks Adam and thanks TapeOp for my first review! tapeop.com/reviews/gear/116/id-di/

Hey folks. Total long shot here. Is anyone on this thread from Toronto? Really curious to try out a zod for an upcoming session.

Once upon a time, Dan had a bunch of loaners. He sent em out for approval and comments. No one (myself included) would give em back. That kind of killed the "loaner" program. Hahahahaaaa!

Sounds like good business to bring it back!

When I got the loaner I ordered one and passed the loaner on to the next guy and then went and borrowed one from another guy to use while I waited for mine to ship. 😂😂

Just ordered one. Read great things around and had a small revenue tax rebate cheque I had to use quickly in case they wanted it back :-)
Its nice when things work out like that :-)

So, ZOD DI showed up and it is fantastic. When I first tried it I got the distinct impression that there was a nice sizzle on the top end that made me think the bass strings sounded a bit newer? The bottom end heft is wonderful. I have tried Bass straight into my converters, through a Chandler Zener and through a BAE 1073 and it sounds great always.
Electric guitar also sounded good, straight in and via the Zener. Great clean sound when in a mix ... you'd probably need to add some fx for a standalone guitar sound.

javamad, glad you like it! I just mixed a record for a client who ended up borrowing a ID DI then buying one from me. He re-tracked all his bass with it. One of the last tracks he sent me to mix sounded much cleaner over all and deeper then his previous songs. I asked him what he did different. He said he tracked all the guitars through the ID DI without a amp. I was honestly shocked. It sounded great. If he needed a little grit he said he used a few pedals. I would have never done that personally because I love amps sounds but I will do it now for some really great clean sounds.

I just watched J.T. Cure play here in Minneapolis/St. Paul with Chris Stapleton. He has been using a ID DI on this tour. He blew me away. The show was incredible, I loved the 3 piece.
J.T.'s tone and parts are very cool. You guys should go check them out if they come through town.

dandeurloo do you ever put a pair of Zods on the 2 bus?

I have once or twice. I honestly never have a pair around. People are always taking my personal ones for demos. I can't keep enough built up and around to do it. When I have it sounded really cool. I want to use them as one of the busses on my console. So, I can have a killer tube sounding buss. I could put them on the back end of my folcrom or something like that and then dump that into my Neve. I will do it more once I can keep a few of them around.

Yeah...I’d have to have 3 of them because I am not taking mine off the bass.

Should be a blast! Hung out a bit with JT and Cobb at RCA this past Thursday. JT was telling me about his dialed in live setup. He splits his signal with a ZOD going to front of house and a vintage UTC A-11 DI in his wedges. He says the ZOD is great for FOH! Kudos Dan. BTW, we did discuss what a fast talker you are LOL. Not in the slippery salesman way just literally how fast you talk!

You should hear my sister talk. Also, I live in a house full of women. I can barely get a word in!
Tell JT, his #2 is burning in right now.
The show rules. I love the trio!

I love the band introduction before TN Whiskey. Definitely the coolest band intro I have ever heard. Cobb played with them so a little different than the trio.

The band introductions are really funny. Everyone loved that.

I'm not sure if any of you saw this on Saturday. Jt has been touring and using the ID DI's for awhile. It was very cool to see it so visibly on SNL.
Great performances!

It was very cool to see it so visibly I keep mine inline all the time now. I couldn't bear to use it only while tracking. Electric bass gets sent to it each and every day.
