Sorry, I don't have a website for them yet. I need to make one.
For now I'm just building them a few at a time. Letting the word of mouth spread on them and getting them to a few key guys for testing and helping the word spread.
So far, I have gotten really great feedback from everyone who has used one. A couple of key guys have had them for a few months now and love them. I know its all I use any more on bass and synths! A few guys here on the forum have heard them, and few have them. Maybe they will give you their impressions of the ID DI.
As far as sales speak, I can say that they use a custom wound output transformer that is key to the sound. They are not wound by one of the usual guys (nothing wrong with them). I wanted a different sound then everything else I have in my studio. I have always felt that each transformer company has a shared sound across their line of transformers. For this reason I wanted to explore more options. I did find a small winder who makes them specifically for me about 5-10 at a time. Because of the winders limited numbers he can wind at a time, the actual number I can build is limited to this.
One thing that I was impressed by was when I first heard the ID DI through a live system I was familiar with. I knew the difference was easy to hear in my studio but the difference in a live setting was amazing. The front of house guy at the venue bought one for that room and said he no longer needs to eq bass with it. I was honestly blown away when I heard the difference at that venue. I had never heard the bass sound as even and full in that system before. That was pretty fun.
Anyway, hit me up with any questions.

A couple of questions that others probably want to know as well, so I'll ask publicly..
Price? Can they be used for reamping as well as DI?

Price is 600 USD.
They don't have a specific reamp function built into it.
They do have a strong output. I haven't measured the gain on them yet. I need to do that. The gain is set to a very happy place for me. They can use a preamp if you want or in most cases they have enough gain to bypass a pre to keep it cleaner. Actually, one of my favorite ways to use it is to run it into my LA 2A and use the output of the LA 2A for any extra gain I may need. I have always liked the sound of the output section of a LA 2A, but I rarely get to dig into it. With the ID DI I do get to do that and I love it.
You can also use them with a preamp no problem. So if you do want more color you can use a pre. Heck you can even drive the pres pretty good with it. Actually, Rob Schnapf has been using one. He sent me this the other day.
I used your di today. Played the moogvoyager thru it and into an api 512 and destroyed it. Sounded fucking awesome.

Anyway, hit me up with any questions. dan (at) collectivecases.com Since pricing is pretty comparable, have you (or others) compared the ID DI with the Reddi? What are the advantages to your box over the Reddi?

I did price it so it comes in at the used price of a Reddi. I love the Reddi. That is what got me started in building a tube di to begin with. I have had a few interesting comments in comparison of my di and the Reddi. A number of touring bass players I trust have preferred mine over the Reddi.
Here are 2 other stories.
1. Rob S. contacted a friend looking for something to replace his Reddi with. My friend put him in contact with me. So far I think Rob is happy.
2. Another Producer/Writier in Nashville did a head to head with my DI and his Reddi. I was very nervous. Scott Leibers and Jeff Steiger where with me when this happened. I was hoping not to get crushed in front of those 2 guys. 30 seconds later the Producer unplugged his Reddi and gave it to me to sell and as soon as I sold it he wanted me to send him my DI. He told me he didn't even want the Reddi in his room any more after hearing my DI. This is a honest story. Jeff S and Scott Lieber can comment more. It was actually pretty interesting.
After bringing the Reddi home from Nashville I did more listening here in my studio. I think my DI has a little more of everything. Its almost like the Reddi is losing some of the important information that the bass is putting out naturally. The ID DI has more detail, bottom, mids and it seems to have a better feel to it.
BTW, I never sold that Reddi so if someone wants a Reddi I have that one for sale.

I ended up with the Redeye 3D because it can do both DI and Reamping in the same box.. I think if you were to ever include an option like that, you'd have a winner over all others.

Dan, my bassist has a G&L, and the active output on the thing is pretty high. How well does your box handle active electronics?
BTW, very very interested. I have been underwhelmed with the Radial JDI I have been using. It's clean and gets the job done, but that's all IMHO.

It handles active electronics just fine. The output attenuator can dial stuff back however much you want.

I had a chance to listen to Dan's D.I. as well and was more than impressed. He has a hit on his hands. I can see different versions with focus on different applications like live music also. Maybe a high pass filter for acoustic instruments can accompany the re-amping thoughts earlier in the post. It is a ruggedly built DI that will travel well even for it being a tube based design. Nice work, Dan!

Still might grab one if Dan's still making them. I've been going 1073 into RS124 though and that's scary good.

I have one as well. It's the closest thing I've come to to sounding like a mic'd cabinet. It responds a lot like playing through an old Ampeg tube amp too. I have a strange Alvarez bass that is very picky about what it's plugged into. Using the ZOD makes it sound like a way better bass.
I don't have to worry about getting a good bass tone anymore.
