Does anyone have the Ross Martin PCM4222 A/D Converter ? Did you have to wait a long time for him to build it ? rossmartinaudio.com/

I have one. Said it would be 5 weeks, took 8. Worth it though. Best A/D I've heard...just the clock alone makes my avid sound much better. Kills my old Lynx, which is now sold.

Well like two years ago I ordered the DAC from Ross because Jim Williams recommended it . But , after 3 months and multiple emails about his wife screwing up the orders , switching computers , bla bla bla , his dog ate his home work .......I finally said I just want a refund . All I hear is good stuff about his converters and they are CHEAP ! I think I'll order the A/D converter and hopefully I'll eventually get it .

I had built my own a few years ago with the TI PCM4222 eval board and it was equally awesome in sound, pretty much identical to the RM version (in sound). But, I had to use dip switches to change sample rates which was a PITA. Ross's, while cheap looking, has all the cool front panel features like a pro A/D. It's worth the $329 or whatever it costs. If you don't wanna wait, I think I saw one for sale on GS classifieds.

My friend Kent sold his Lavry's after getting the RM4222...also has the Avid HD I/O's (which are great) and prefers the RM4222.

What I wonder is if Ross can sell a converter for $329 that is pretty much the best , how come most company's sell their "best" 2 channel A/D converter for around $2,000 ? I have read alot of people say they like the Behringer ULTRAMATCH PRO SRC2496 and its only $200 . www.behringer.com/EN/Products/SRC2496.aspx

Lynx Aurora, Lavry, Avid HD I/O, UA 2192, Digi192... the 4222 is the standout IMO for sonics. Ross's racking is kinda chinsy, but cost is low. I think he has an 8 channel A/D coming out for under a grand.

I thought it had already been finished?
I bought the 2 channel DA to have a listen to the quality. the plan is to replace the 16 channel lynx with a couple of the 8 channel RM units and an 8 track reel. well that's the dream....

Jim Williams made this D/A recommendation to me no more than 2 weeks ago, Jim is extremely hard to please when it comes to this stuff, I trust it must be killer.

you pay those extra $1800 bucks for the software/drivers so it can be used with your DAW.
