Geekbench singlecore cpu benchmark is looking very promising for these new M4 chips. Should be a great machine for low latency monitoring... Man...like 30-40% more power than my M1 Mac Studio? It's tempting for sure to just be able to set your buffers at 64 and never worry about it...

Probably gonna be an instant buy for me. Only question is do I wait for the Mac Studio?

If my mobo broke, I’d just buy one of these. There’s not a lot of need unless you’re running tons of amp sims or tons of modern fx sends in a huge production and already have a capable intel 12th gen or apple silicon computer with adequate ram.

My 2 1/2 year old M1 macbook pro max hits 2,874, so unless you are editing 12k video i wouldn't bother(i edit 6k braw vid w/o proxies all the time with this machine, effortlessly)
edit; my $6,400 lesson from 2.5 years ago is never buy the most recent gen unless you like 💵🚽

Interesting place to put the power button It would have been very Apple to delete the power button altogether and then make you use their phones and watches as a remote.

Her pants are powered my the M5 chip and Allegra is Apple's first hypoallergenic spokes woman😵💫 Those pants were very distracting. My wife was in the room when I was watching it and all we talked about was that woman's outfit.

I had missed the times when a base model Mac was good enough for most.
It happened again. Fantastic!

Honestly on my M1 Pro MBP it feels like it's still bottlenecks in software holding things back, the computer is always yawning and about to nod off it's doing so little. I've never had anything related to tracking or mixing hit over 20% CPU.

Where I really notice a lack of processing speed when using my computer compared to others is when I have to offline bounce or commit anything. When I’m working on a Mac Studio or similar they will do it 10 to 20X faster than my laptop. If I could do that stuff close to that it be well worth $1500 to get time in my day back
And ditching the friggin thunderbolt hub would make me sooooo happy

I’m happy to see they finally got the memo about connectivity!
My Intel iMac might be ready to retire soon.

It’s all about single core performance for me.
Width we have in abundance already - it’s height I want more of.

Is that daw dependent or why does hyper/multi threading not matter for your recording?
