I’m still murky on what the difference is between Personal and Pro. You may have already seen this, Ragan:
Looks like "Maximum # of sound sources" is 2 in Personal vs. 16 in Professional. Then there's "Routing Matrix - for routing plugin inputs to different sound sources" and "Individual control for Spatial and Gain parameters, Early reflections and Envelope effect for each sound source".
Not sure what all those things are, but maybe someone else can enlighten us...

I “think” it means you can place different instruments in different positions within the room, versus just fixed position stereo with the Personal edition. Sounds very intriguing.

I know I sound like negative Nancy…and I’m sure this will be great for a huge number of people…but today I tried it on some acoustics. Definitely nice…but to me, it was not necessarily any better than than Valhalla Room or the various other room reverbs I have.

UA does a great job selling the sizzle, up to us to figure out where the beef is ?!

I just wish my cpu could handle more instances of these...hah. With the Atlantis, I love to work off of the Vocal Medium Air preset. I'll still use Capital as a supplementary reverb at times. It's not as refined as Inspirata, Atlantis, or Hitsville but it does have some unique quality about it. Last night I downloaded the kodaly IR for Inspirata. Had to clear a lot of space for these IRs because they do take up the most space in the history of IRs I'm guessing. I'll compare the kodaly with the others in a bit. With all the parameters you can modify, you could probably make these big symphonic spaces sound a bit smaller. This thing is just so insanely versatile. I've had Inspirata Personal for a couple of years now, but I don't pull it up much. I abandoned it a while back because it keeps crashing PT 2023. I tried again last night and crashed again. I will try reinstalling Inspirata tonight. Do you feel the Pro version is worth the upgrade cost? Do you get the full Roompacks with the Pro version, or would I still need to buy those separately? I thought the extra controls in Professional were very worth it considering it's not that much more expensive and you'll be able to avoid buying a lot of other reverbs or even sell some of what you own. When I've looked at the extra roompacks, I didn't feel like they had a lot more to offer. It's tough to find a list of what IRs you get with the ones you have to pay for. I just deduced that there wasn't enough added to make them worth paying for.

The timer countdown thing is gone as well. Maybe it’s a sign. Oh well. Sounded cool.

When I got back home, the page was still loaded, complete with the countdown ticker saying there were a couple of hours left in the sale. I submitted a support ticket with screenshots. I kinda wanted to get the upgrade to Personal. We'll see what they say.

Maybe you guy will get lucky and they'll announce the $99 sale again soon. It would be good to hear multiple people's thoughts on how Sound City measures up.

Agreed we should split off Inspirata talk. But just to wrap up what we’ve been talking about, I got this response from them:
“Thank you very much for reporting the issue. I'm pleased to inform you that from now on, we will be applying the prices that were valid during the promotion, allowing our products to be purchased at these reduced rates without the need for a coupon code.”
So, apparently they’re lowering prices permanently. I haven’t been to the site since to check.

Sound City is cool, and sounds good, but doesn't bring a whole lot different to the table than my other gazillion room verb plugs. The hype is real, though. Especially at 2/99.

I'm still waiting for UAD to get back to me regarding straightening out my UAD plug-in mess. Meanwhile.. I was wondering about using Sound City with Superior Drummer. SD has its own mixer with room sounds. They meticulously recorded those room sounds in great rooms with great mics. I wonder if I should turn the room mics of SD off and use the Sound City rooms, and mic choices. Most of the demos of Sound City I've seen are using live drums.
I have to shut down my whole system for a few days. I'm moving to a new apartment.

Agree...I don't ever really need that much room in my drums (Im sure I'll get a rock project next week now) but I was gonna buy it if I loved it on acoustics. It's definitely cool, but I do think there are other options that are even a little quicker. That being said, it would be really cool to hear like a roomy rock band project all in this room.

All good guys
For me, its coming down to silver bullet vs ua CS and the mastering comp: i’m leaning SB now as I think it brings a lot more to mixing.

Sounds good Wiz, I like it. The Sound City plug is on my list next time it's on sale.
Daydreaming here on kind of a related note,..but now that UA has added Sound City to Ocean Way for famous sounding rooms, I hope the day comes when UA does the rooms at Capitol records Studio A and B, with maybe having Studio A variables like its changing panels sonics of the room in different positions besides mic positions, and depending on how far they want to develop it could maybe incorporate the Studio A 88rs board, sample the Nat King Cole Piano and emulate the 67s and Frank 47 of Studio A,....and incorporate the 8068 board for Studio B.
Then UA could market a Capitol records Bundle product of their already developed Capitol Chambers, & Capitol Mastering Compressor plugs with a new Capitol Rooms Plugin taking that as short or far as they'd want to develop it with other gear there like their 660 etc. and maybe some Al Schmidt, Steve Genewick presets as long as I'm daydreaming....

I got this plugin as part of my Spark subscription.
I think it sounds great - a very useful space to add to an arrangement.

Cool song, wiz . Can you tell us about how/qhere you used the Sound City plugin? Hey I put in on a bus, in REVERB mode. I have subgroups in my session, Drums, Bass, Guitars, Harms, Vocal and instantiate a send to SCS on each of those, varying amounts get sent... all the busses return to a MIX bus, then to the MAIN outs. I have had no luck using it on anything in REMIC mode. For those that have SCS this is based of the CLASSIC preset. cheers Wiz

The remic thing was always kind of weird to me too on OWS.

Remic mode on OWS always sounds like a phasey mess to me. I don’t know how anyone uses it like that.
