Most the newer UAD plugins are Native? The Capitol mastering Compressor won’t work in AAX. There were people using a VST wrapper to get it to work. Does anyone know if Sound City is working in AAX format and is this plugin only Native as well? I was going to get a satellite for my Protools rig, but not sure if UA is phasing them out and all the plugins are going native, why waste the money on a Satellite? Anyone have any answers? I love it when you pay for something that doesn’t work, and you have to wait for the manufacturer to put out a fix! That happened with my Protools rig on the M1. Took Avid about 4-5 months to put out a bug fix for it to work! I'm not sure what this is referring to. The only UAD I'm using are native plugins (including Sound City and Capitol Mastering Compressor) in PT (AAX).

If I buy Sound City and Capitol Mastering plugins will I be forced into UAD's Subscription model? Are you paying for a subscription with the Native Plugins?

Nothing can force you into the subscription. You'd have to agree to it and sign the terms. The native vs DSP distinction only relates to what processor is running the plugs - your own computer vs some piece of UAD SHARC-based hardware. I didn't sign up for the subscription, myself, I just bought the plugs in the sale.

I did a quick comparison with this vs Inspirata and so far it's like night and day. Sound City sounds like a successor to the other UAD reverbs like Hitsville, Ocean Way, and Capitol. I'll have to try it some more. But Inspirata just sounds so unique and is so versatile that I'm not sure there's much I could do with Sound City to get close to that level of quality. Softube Atlantis is another plugin I would rank as being in the top of its class too. I'm using that as a vocal reverb in conjunction with Inspirata. Thanks for mentioning this! I had the free "Giveaway Lite" version of Inspirata, and with their current sale "BFRI", I was able to upgrade to the Personal Edition for $50. It would've been $150 to upgrade to the Professional Edition. Which version do you have?

Buying plugins and signing up for the subscription are two independent things. You will know if you're signing up for a subscription because you will have to sign user terms for a subscription.

I've still not downloaded all the spaces. Berliner Philharmonia is my favorite so far.

If Professional seems like the way I need to go, I can upgrade from Personal to Professional for $100, so nothing lost.

I remembered that a project I'm working on with a friend is at a lower sample rate, so I've been checking out the Lite version of Inspirata I have. Pretty cool, sounds about the same as Altiverb or TL Space (both of which I used to use a lot). In the Professional version, are there more non-huge spaces? It's pretty rare that I want to put my drums in a cathedral. Wondering if there are more useful medium rooms in other versions.

I just finished this review of the Sound City plugin. I havn't seen a lot of people focusing on the virtual guitar cab feature for reamping in the plugin, it's my favorite feature so far. I took my Matchless Dirt Box tube pedal and ran it line in, then reamped it inside of Sound City with their virtual 2x12 cab. I then went a step further and tried to recreate the tone as close as possible in my live room with a real amp and room mics to compare.
I'm honestly more proud of how close I was able to match the room and cab tone, that took a bit of work and tweaking. My room obviously isn't as amazing as Sound City, but it's big enough to where I was able to get close. I tweaked for a while getting the SM57 close mic tone to match, I was surprised how close they ended up sounding.

That’s the thing about SC as a plug, its more than just a great reverb: exceptional value for $45.

First thoughts review after fiddling a bit last night.
I like the room simulation better than Ocean Way which I only ever felt comfortable using on drums. Melodic instruments on Ocean Way (especially vocals) just highlighted the "not realness" for me. SC was very convincing on a scratch vocal last night although a little goes a long way.
The EQ is usable as it should be. Can't really go wrong there as I'm sure it's just a port from their other Neve EQ's. Anyway that was fast and easy to dial in.
The compression? Maybe I don't understand it or something. I had a very dynamic vocal and the compression didn't level it out OR add interesting color/grit. So what's the point? To be fair, I gave up quickly since I have a million other compressors that I can dial in fast. Maybe I just need to learn it, but why would I?
Same thing for the chamber. Actually worse. I straight up didn't like it but, again, I gave up pretty fast. To me a chamber should be like "great, this sounds like a nice chamber, now let me tone it back." After 60 seconds of not getting anything remotedly usable out of that chamber I'm like... nope, pull up one of a million other great 'verbs we all have.
But overall? For $49 the room emulation alone provides value. And I think if I think of this as a room/verb with more advanced shaping features (good EQ, etc) I'll be satisfied. I was hoping it was gonna be a new take on a channel strip and it was not that for me.

'INSPIRATA Roompack' and 'INSPIRATA Roompack Lite' are the default room libraries shipping with Inspirata and Inspirata Lite, respectively. They contain the same spaces, but the two room packs are different in download size: the full version has more detailed spatial data. The Lite Roompack that works with Inspirata Lite only is 11 GB in size while the full Roompack working with all other editions of INSPIRATA is 210 GB. Thanks for suggesting Inspirata and Softube Atlantis Chambers. I replaced some instances of UA Capital Chambers with Inspirata and I'm very impressed. Tired Atlantis on a vocal and acoustic guitar. Both are great.

I'll still use Capital as a supplementary reverb at times. It's not as refined as Inspirata, Atlantis, or Hitsville but it does have some unique quality about it. Last night I downloaded the kodaly IR for Inspirata. Had to clear a lot of space for these IRs because they do take up the most space in the history of IRs I'm guessing. I'll compare the kodaly with the others in a bit. With all the parameters you can modify, you could probably make these big symphonic spaces sound a bit smaller. This thing is just so insanely versatile.

I tried again last night and crashed again. I will try reinstalling Inspirata tonight. Do you feel the Pro version is worth the upgrade cost? Do you get the full Roompacks with the Pro version, or would I still need to buy those separately?

It looks to me like Personal and Professional both use the same "Inspirata Roompack": the full-res versions of the IRs. Then there is an "Inspirata Roompack Extension," which is a yearly subcription to a bunch of other IRs if you want that, and out of that Roompack Extension there are two packs that you can buy separately for a perpetual license, both drawn from that Extension pack: "Post Pro Roompack 1" and "Music Pro Roompack 1".
You can see what exactly is included in each of those here:
