So that’s the Heiserman and the Flea with new 251 clones.
Who else is coming down the pike with a high end 251 clone?

So now we know why Tim is so busy - looks to be a heck of a mic if it lives up to the intent.
Cheers, Ross

I think the GAP 251 is going to struggle against the FLEA 251 if they're in the same price bracket.
FLEA have the reputation.
The GAP 251 will have to be significantly cheaper I would imagine?
Though of course it will come down to sound at the end of the day.

Since I know Bo I also know how expensive it is to make a replica with swivel and such so the price makes sense out of that view. Boutique stuff isn't for the masses anyways but I do think it's the best 251 mic I've tried so far. I think people will be impressed 🙂

Well of course I have mentioned this a few times and knew it was being released. This price is in Britain and equals about 5500 USD (the top price is with GB VAT ). It will be nice to see what the street price will be in the US. At least it is available now and Flea manufactures all parts but my capsule in house. Can't wait to hear some feedback

If you are comparing this to US prices they never include sales tax so the price by my converter is 5500 USD

If you are comparing this to US prices they never include sales tax so the price by my converter is 5500 USD British VAT is on everything - including services, eat in food, power!! So you guys have Sales Tax? In every State or does it vary? Would $5,500 include Sales Tax?

British VAT is on everything - including services, eat in food, power!! So you guys have Sales Tax? In every State or does it vary? Would $5,500 include Sales Tax? Only if you live in Britain. Of course You have to apply your local sales tax but no prices on this forum are ever listed including VAT. In the current thread the H251 price was listed as 5899 USD without sales tax. With British VAT that would be 6320 britsh pounds and that is me using a very forgiving currency converter. I am not seeing how this applies to what the US prices would be. I don't pay this price anyway
Not every state has sales tax and if you live in Britain you know every EU country sets their own VAT. It usually varies from 18% to 25%.

Yeah obviously, I meant British VAT is on everything in Britain! The rest of what you said, I didn't actually really understand to be honest - no doubt my fault :-) One thing is for certain, everything is getting very expensive. I bought a pair of ATC 25's for £5,400 last year they're now £7,800 .... that's just crazy!

Congratulations to both Flea and Tim, I have no doubt it will sound great!
I always wished Flea would make a 67 also, but so far no luck on that front.

I can tell you Flea doesn't make a U67 because Neumann reissued it. In europe there are stricter laws about manufacturers copying each others work. There is no one making an exact looking clone because of this.

State to state, county to county, city to city and even neighborhood to neighborhood if they have special district. Have a hard time remembering what it’s goin to be.

I'm 1000% happy with my Upton and I still get gear lust every time I see a new 251. I have a problem.
The new GAP looks killer. I would really love to hear a comparison against the less expensive version. I already love what I've heard from that one.

The thing that strikes me is, who at the moment is dropping £6K on a single mic, no matter how good it is! I'm lucky enough to have enough savings put away to buy this new FLEA 251 and a 251 has been on my radar for a long time (along with an LA2A) but in the current cost of living crisis I'm nervous about buying even a few new guitar leads! I hope FLEA do well with it, but current boutique gear prices have gone into the stratosphere - unless you're Adel or Ed Sheeran :-) It look beautifully made though and hopefully at some point in the future the economy will improve and I feel confident to invest in this mic I'm certain it will sound absolutely stunning!!

True, but still …. £6K just at the moment feels like a crazy reckless purchase - no matter how much I’d love to own one. Now if you’re making money with it then it’s a totally different story of course
