It takes years to build cred and a few valid (and sometimes invalid) internet posts to tear it down. Business 101 for mine; am looking for a capsule but will probably pass which is obviously not what Ben would want to hear - your call Ben. Cheers, Ross

I also had a bad mic from Beezneez and chose to move on. Not the first ‘boutique’ mic I’ve had a problem with, but I moved on and never looked back. I did eventually get a replacement but sold it immediately. Mic didn’t really shine in any application I tried it. No complaints from the buyer FWIW.

It's a shame. Ben does produce some very good products. Communication has always been an issue, but I'd still like to pick up some more of his mics and capsules.

Beesneez has always had a reputation for making some great mics, capsules, and transformers. Unfortunately, if you read around on various forums, there seems to be a few more issues with quality control and communication than the average mic company. If I lived in Australia I'd probably buy some of their stuff, but being in the US, I don't want to be dealing with shipping stuff back and forth to the other side of the world if there's an issue. Too many other options.

Ben - if you are reading these, please respond. I am going to give him a chance to improve on this. Maybe he can make a major change in communications and these administrative matters.
I have to say that I wrote to Ben about something a month or so ago and we had some communications and his responses and replies were all rather quick. So, maybe this can all be easily resolved!

Again the BU67 is even a bit mellower, on the top end, compared to a U67. My direct experience of BU67 vs U67, is limited to just the Reissues. But have listened FWIW to tons of records, cut on a U67 for further listening reference. Trivia note... The U67 that Justin Hayward used on the Moodies "Classic 7" albums, is (rightfully) considered one of the best 67's ever made. Right up there with the "Dolly" 251. Magical! Chris P.S. I didn't play around with the BU67 internal switch BTW, that moves it into more of a 269 style. Sorry to fumble my way through this BeezNeez window, but that Moody's U67 lived at my "local" for years, Enharmonik (later the Hangar, aka Tape Op publishing HQ). It was the greatest mic in the universe - I almost named an album after it! It was on long-term loan from Mike Pinder and now it lives back up the hill with him, far as I know. I've since sung through U67s at Abbey Road and while those were wonderful, they didn't touch the Moody mic.

Be brief though… Writing a book may not work well for some folks. I confess I barely ever read long emails or texts … I don’t have the attention spa…

Just putting some closure on this for posterity's sake. The person who I bought this mic from has let me return it to him, which I will be doing. Since my last post, Ben has again changed his response from repairing this mic to sending a replacement once he received the defective mic. All reasonable and makes perfect sense. It's just that after months of zero follow through after every promise, I can't help but feeling a lot of uncertainty. I have opted out of BeezNeez products, and will no longer have to deal with any issues. I only hope the original purchaser has better luck.

Hi Guys and Especially Adam
I do agree, this instance has become really messy.
We have tried to accommodate Adam’s mic troubles but it became really confusing as the messages were coming across various medium ie; Facebook, messages and here among others. In the end though, it’s my bad. I got confused It can sometimes be a challenge, working long days, many hours and trying to keep a work life balance. Sorry Adam.
Due to you not buying the microphone from us I should have asked you to return the microphone to us immediately and I should have fixed it for you as it would make no sense to simply send you another without first receiving your mic.
As many of you in this forum can hopefully appreciate, complaints like this air themselves and can make a company look bad. In this case we definitely could have done better. Usually we have order numbers to register against any returns or warranty and this keeps things neat and tidy. We will need to find a better method to take care of the occasional second hand microphone repair requests.
In our defence, other than the confusion, there was never a time during our conversations with Adam that we were not going to repair the microphone. We just needed to have it returned in order to do this.
Over the past 20 years, we have sold more than 50,000 microphones! If you search through the various forums, there are perhaps less than 20 bad BeesNeez experiences but not a single “we were ripped off and didn’t get what we paid for” type experience. We do try very hard but sometimes, that 1 out of 5000 mics can slip through the cracks.
Again, apologies to Adam.

To be fair, I did contact you through email, here and Messenger in the beginning, mostly to get a response. But the majority of our communication, consistently took place via Messenger. I did buy the mic second hand, and I was upfront about it. I thought it was very gracious of you to offer to take care of it. A bit of a frustrating 5 months, but I’m not angry. I had picked up a second BU67 that was working properly and thought it sounded great. I wish you well and hope that you are able to implement some revised communication policies. And please be on the lookout for a message from the original purchaser of this troublesome mic. I’m hoping you’ll be able to resolve that swiftly. Take care.

I rarely, if ever spend time surfing forums, not because I don't want to but because I need to sleep at least a few hours a day. I am always available by phone and am a bit old fashioned like that too. I love to chat and am happy to do so. For those that prefer to follow the path of least resistance, we also have a very simple repair procedure on our website www.beesneezproaudio.com that ensures speedy turn around. If there is any way I can personally help you, please let me know. You can send me an email or tex or call me too. thanks. Ben

Too many other options. Hi Brenta. It's a shame to hear that you have come to this conclusion. Sadly, you will hear a complaint much more often then a compliment. If a customer is satisfied, they make music. To shed a different light though; we have been around for 20 years now, over that time, we are bound to tread on a few toes (never intentionally). We are one of the largest boutique manufacturers of microphones out there and also one of the only boutiques that truly mans the machines that actually make the mic parts. We even manufacture capsules and transformers for our competitors. Due the shear volume of our manufacturing, we will unavoidably have some returns. If it makes you feel more at ease, I am happy to take care of your shipping costs if your mic needs to be returned during it's warranty period. Shipments v warranties; We ship around 2500 products per year and see 25-30 pieces returned in need of some repair. In the by-gone days of manufacture, this would be an excellent average however in today's internet accountability era, any returns is bad business. We will continue to make the best efforts to improve our customer experience and hope that you give us a go sometime. We will also be at NAMM and would love to meet you all. We will have a Free T-shirt for you if you ask and a give away of a (fully functioning lol) microphone each day! We are also implementing a dealer network across the USA to make sales and any warranty much easier. See you all there. thanks again. Ben

Two brief "one take" BU67 Acapellas below... I hope to have more time with the BU67, by early next week (or sooner). First clip is of the original BU67 sent me. Long story short of the first BU67... It was sent into L.A. "Demo Orbit", starting with Rob Schnapf, then Manny Nieto. About 7 or so AE's heard it, I guesstimate. (To get them familiar with its sound) It ended up getting sold eventually. Thanks for listening. Chris P.S. Any vocal Processing tips antbar, on a 67 Style Tube mic? To get it closer to Pinder's? Thanks!

I primarily record vocals and solo instruments. Sometimes I have to remind myself that mics like the BU67 have a variable polar pattern switch. Last night after a session with a friend I decided to throw it up next to my MK U67 again, and play around with moving it toward omni and playing around with the various wide cardioid settings. I found the microphone gave me a much closer sound to what I was looking for in that first wide cardioid mode than in cardioid itself. I'm not sure why I haven't played with the the pattern selection much, especially since I have had other microphones that I much preferred in either wide cardioid or super cardioid rather than pure cardioid. I still think you can tell the difference between the two microphones. The MK67 sounds a bit "bigger" and more open. The BU67 sounds a bit smoother with more low end reach. Anyway, just some more thoughts on the BU67.
**Edit: Now I have to decide if I use the setting I like or the standard setting in the video I'm about to shoot....

Out of curiosity, anyone put a BU67 up next to a Warm Audio WA67?

Out of curiosity, anyone put a BU67 up next to a Warm Audio WA67? I have. I own both. They kind of have the same vibe. The warm is a lot darker. Heavier on the low mids in my opinion. I like the sound of the BU67 better. The wa67 has a lot more weight to the sound and not as clear because of the extended low mids. I can tweak it with eq. I need to go back and see if I can't find the session I was comparing them in.
