Isn't the drip around $1500 or so after everything? You can get a used Retro for about $500 more. John it's all about 2 things for me, 1. It's easier to finance a DIY project piecemeal, sort of a layaway program. Thus freeing up funds for those I can't let them get away bargains. 2. Blame Steiger for this, I like getting my hands dirty, I'm not an EE like some people and understanding the fundamentals of a circuit is my weakness. Every time I build something I learn something. This way, I get a quick course and a piece of gear. Remember unlike most of you I'm trying to be retired ! Time is the one thing I've got, kids in school wife's at work, time to inhale some solder fumes ! Besides If I can do it with 8 full fingers 6 that have close to normal sensation anybody can! Oh and I can call it physical therapy so It's an easy deduction (if I could only get Bluecross/ bluesheild to cover it)!

I have two DRIP STA's. One is just sitting there essentially as a spare... I had to buy the two or the guy wouldn't sell...
I look at the spare one every day. Wonder what to do with it. I know I will never come across another.
I like it, its purdy.
cheers

wiz, ever try the STA's in stereo on the 2 bus? I imagine calibrating might be tricky, but I don't know, that's over my head.

I can appreciate that wiz.
I rely on the UAD Ampex 102 on the 2 bus for tone, and I swear, it's pretty damn good. Of course I'll probably go back to tape one day, but only after I'm all set up somewhere and I want to have some fun.
