I've been through heartache that hurt so much, I wished that I was dead. bad thing, man.
that said, I am happier now than I have ever been in my whole life. I am alone. and I am happier now than when I was with someone.
the answer for me, the key for me (I'm talking about my experience here), was learning how to value myself. and really really value myself highly. just like I am. that is completely entirely independent of how anyone else values me. I have interests now, that keep me so excited and enthused, that I wish I could live forever. music, astrophysics. and many many other extremely fun and interesting things.
Randy, I know nearly nothing about you. but, the little I know, I think that you are a world class musician, and studio owner/engineer. dude, better days are coming. bet on it. peace out, brother.

"The good news is they are finally on the verge of being finished, and off my plate, now if I can just keep myself from being distracte....., hey! look squirrel! " this is just so hilarious, man. I so believe that: man is the creature that loves to be distracted.

a frightening picture, for sure. it reminds me a lot of a receptacle that burned up last year, where I work. an Air Conditioner was plugged into it. this has me thinking about the cause. I'll be thinking about this for awhile, I assure you. thank you very much for your excellent posts.

my forte is fixing things. I'm a problem solving, troubleshooter by nature. I think its awesome, that you built this thing. as for problems, the only guy that never has any problems, is the guy that never does anything. problems are challenges. we learn from them. DIY appeals to me. I don't see myself doing it, until I retire and have more time. peace out, man.

thank you for that post. I put a gfci in for the pool filter outside in the backyard for my Dad in 1984, when they may have been kinda new. I had forgotten the details. I haven't put one in, in a long time now.
I just read the wiki. if I read it right, it said that you can install them where there's only a hot and a neutral. you don't have to add or run a new ground wire. hmmmmm. got some more reading to do.

thank you for your post. I'm sure you know more than I.
that said, I would like to tell you what I have recently read and been told by an electrician friend.
say you have an appliance. and the motor has a problem. insulation is bad and a bare wire on one of the windings (a normal current carrying wire), has now broke and is touching the metal casing of the appliance. that casing is now hot. if it is grounded properly, current will go through the ground wire (which is a not normal current carrying wire), back to the circuit breaker panel, transfer there to the neutral wire (because the neutral and ground are bonded at the circuit breaker panel), go back on the neutral to the transformer at the utility pole, then back on the hot wire to the circuit breaker, and trip it. this happens very fast. there is a brief (short), intense current, which is what trips the breaker.
this was the first time I had seen the word "short ", used this way. anyways, just throwing it out there, man.

thank you again. from a safety standpoint, of course the lack of proper grounding for a residence or any building is not good.
I have heard of the watering the earth ground electrode(s).
the rest of a proper grounding system (and I am going off what I have read, and heard from an electrician friend), consists of grounded receptacles, and the ground connected to the neutral at the service entry to the building. with this proper installation, the Circuit Breakers, should operate properly in the event of a ground hazard.

in the US, all regular 120 volt receptacles have neutrals. 1 hot, 1 neutral. not sure about if there's a terminology difference for where you are (Ireland?). as for ground, lots of older houses do not have grounded receptacles.
all of that said, I want to thank you for your post. I did not know that afci's are now code on receptacles in so many rooms in a house now. in reading, inspired by your post, I also read about glowing connections. I had never heard of them before. years ago, my workplace sent me for training on arc flash hazard training. it was oriented towards commercial and industrial equipment. I am learning now, about how it also applies to residential stuff. I've got some more reading to do now. thanks again.

you remind me of something I read recently. its regarding playing Bass on the guitar. James Taylor does it. here's a quote from him: ".....I do play bass with my thumb and my bass players Jimmy Johnson and Lee Sklar will tell you the challenge is working with somebody who's already playing bass."
well, certainly Johnson and Sklar are masters. 2 more names: Victor Wooten. and Will Lee. Will Lee plays with such joy. I am inspired so much by his joy in playing. its the same type of thing as watching how much joy Tommy Emmanuel exudes in playing.

well, you know, I think he had a good run. I didn't follow him much in the last few decades, but when I was a young man, the Eagles were right at the top. their influence on me is beyond measurement. it looks like his medical problems were severe. I think he's in a better place, now, and left that torture chamber of a physical body behind. I'll bet he's making music with David Bowie and Natalie Cole and a bunch of other right fine musicians, as I write this.

Comment on Niles guitar part on "Lets Dance" It just goes to show that sometimes LESS is BEST. Words of wisdom. Often, so profoundly so. Masters learn not just what to play, but what not to......ie, what to leave out. I read a quote recently, from a master......I don't remember if he was a pianist or a guitarist or a drummer.......he said its taken him his whole life to learn what to leave out, ie, not play. Things that make you go hmmmmmmm

right on, bro. I have not listened to it in a long time. but some of it (certainly not all), is very deeply engraved in my memory. some of it is so beautiful. and some of it is such simple genius pretty little melody harmony, and such. its very approachable. you don't have to be a virtuoso musician to have a try at playing some of it. some of it is very heartfelt. it is emotional. wow! have Heroes going through my brain. never liked it before. hated it when it was released, and for many years. extremely emotional song. dripping with emotion doesn't begin to adequately even hint at the force. it is anguished. back to the studio for me. recording amarillo by morning. so many great songs. such a variety of genres. I love it all.
