I'm starting to wonder why my Original Urei 1176s, "D" versions are still in the rack.

Studio has a Purple VOX AC 15 with PM Guitar Tubes and a BAD CAT speaker.
There have been a few studio musicians who have never played through one, fell in love with it and wanted to get one.

I learned anything over $800 will be subject to an import tax unless there is country trade agreement.
On an item just over $800.00 I paid $125.00 import fees.

The SA-47 sounds A little more up front or modern sounding than the U-47.
There is something about a well maintained, real Neumann U-47 that I never heard in any clone. In most comparisons, It's more than just almost sounding the same frequency wise.
I hear the U-47 is a little more natural sounding, dimensional. It's hard to describe.
Good job on the SA-47

This is a little long and off the subject, but a vote for the tube traps. Yes, they are expensive bought at first and DIY is time consuming (finding the parts, sawing, cutting, upholstering, etc. and the place to do it. But either way they are a solid long term investment. How much do you spend on gear. The new ones I built are the inter thermal Traps, better performing but more complicated to build. My tracking room has 6' towers in all four corners, and half rounds on the walls, live wood floor and a dead 16' ceiling. Upper half slatted walls. Built for live group tracking, A lost art.
Just had the first live practice, drums, bass, guitar, keyboards. The room was rocking. The tube traps were vibrating when you touched them Every body was amazed at the fact they could play that loud and really hear each other, in a room that was very even sounding, no bass build up, lively not dead. Just smiles. The tube traps sounded invisible yet did their job. I a circle they create and even sounding vocal environment and great isolation around amps and instruments.
There are 50 tube traps in the back studio creating an attack wall, side walls and upper ceiling corners, making a live tiled area into a accurate controlled monitoring environment.
I've got the wall mounted bass traps, walls of diffusers, slatted walls, but the tube traps play an important and versatile part of the studio's sound.
No boxy booth.

I agree with the above.
I replaced all the studios Yamaha PM series amps with Jim William's modified Adcom amps.
555s Main speakers, 545s Aux speakers, 535 headphones. ( Although I recently replaced the whole headphone system with the Behringer PM-16 personal mixers.)
I'm even using a 555 with coaxial speakers for a live keyboard setup.
Great sounding amps.

I talked to a fellow musician that recorded at GOLD STAR recording studio, LA. Ca. around 1968.
He said the rates were 75 Cents per minute ( $45.00 ph. ) before midnight.
It was $1.50 per minute ( $90.00 ph. ) after midnight.
I found it strange thinking it should have been the other way around.

The band PHOENIX bought the Micheal Jackson "Thriller" Harrison 3232 Console originally installed in Westlake Studios.
Back in the day, Dennis Rose traded a tape machine for the decommissioned Harrison console. Later, It was installed in his studio.
I had used the console at Weatlake and went to see it in locally. The sale of the console's asking price, raised a lot of contraversy.
The band PHOENIX bought the console and had it shipped to FRANCE.

Both Control Rooms to Tracking Rooms are wired with CAT-6 Coax carring both audio, video and headphone feeds. Using HDMI to Cat-6, Cat-6 to HDMI converters for video feeds.

No personalization. A great practice amp, however I can see studio use also.
Being MR.MOD I already replaced the speakers with a pair of 4" coaxial speakers. More high end but a little less volume.
SO, I ordered the 70 watt IC chip from Mouser. I'll have to see if I attempt the SMD world.

When my studio was in the Claremont Village, Ca. during the 1980's
David Lindley lived up the street in the village and would come into the studio.
I recorded his daughters band at a large 3 day music festival of 30 bands I produced in Claremont back in the day.

Some Can , Some Can't I'm with SVART, I do everything myself including DIY slatted rooms in the Studio. It's a lot of skill and work. But lately I'm slowing down and asking for help. But, The easiest thing to do is to just sign a check.

Ouch. 800$? I buy used TT patchbays for less than 100$ on Ebay. 45 years latter I'm still using over 10 of those $100.00 Switchcraft TT Patchbays in various Racks. All Mogami cables are directly soldiered to the Jacks and shrink wrapped. Patch cables made with soldiered Switchcraft TT plugs. No unnecessary connections. No problems.

With the pre-made panels you are paying for connivence. Time and money do add up. Having more time than Money, I've built numerous slated walls in various parts of Studio A. The Slats are backed with Material and Safe'n'Sound. The Vocal area is backed with 703.

I have a pair of AML 1073s, 1084s, and 4- 2254s. All great sounding units. The AML 1084s were the most time consuming builds I've ever built. 12 printed circuit boards, over 700 parts, and pre bent resistors ( must be taped down) per unit. I'd buy another pair, but pre built.

Merry Christmas to All, and a Happy New Year! form Sunny Southern California.
It hardly seems like Christmas when it's 80 degrees.
All the leaves have fallen
And they're bringing back the disease.
It makes you stop and wonder,
"Hey you" pass the Cheese.

I've built 3 Mojotone amps. Tweed Deluxe, Duluxe Reverb and a Marshall 18 watt. Complete kits, great cabinets, but some have limited docs, only wiring diagrams. All great studio amps. They make Session players smile.
