I've owned my Tannoy Big Reds ( M 1000 ) monitors for over 40 years.
The only mantainace is to rotate the Coaxial Speakers every so often. The large cones will tend to sag over time so a 180 degree rotation will prevent this. The speakers are front mounted with 4 large Allen screws so it's an easy procedure.
They still sound great powered by an Adcom 555 modified by Jim Williams.

I did some studio consulting at a fellow drummer's recording place. Tune monitors, place drum mikes, set levels. etc.
It was a small room, turn the drum stood one way and you're drumming, and the other you're in the mix position. It was a live sounding set of drums in a small room with a powerful solid drummer. Basically a Sonic Drum Cube.
There were a set of KRK VXT8 Monitors on a desk, placed close to the wall, switched them to 1/2 space, and flattened the treble boost. I played back some of my analog mixes and I was surprised how I was able to hear things I hadn't heard before. Depth, separation, layering. Balanced sound. Anybody here listening or own a pair? Comments?

I was a Professor at Citrus College in Azusa, Ca. teaching intermediate Recording techniques and Acoustics. My Classroom was a $10 million recording complex featuring a Neve V72 and two Studer 820 24 track machines. As a class guest speaker I brought in T-Bone Barnett. Before his speaking appearance, I put on a 24 track of the BeeGees "Staying Alive" He did a mostly percussion mix of the song. When asked, He didn't really answer any questions about recording or mixing. Just pushed up faders.
When he talked to my class, everybody had questions about recording. His answers never answered the questions, answered only with syco babble. Nobody understood what he was talking about. I had never met the man before and it left me wondering how he produced records other than sitting on the couch. Just my experience.

I've built Two of the 1084 modules. These are a very difficult build. 12 P.S.B. s and over 700 parts pre module. The 1081 kits look to be newly added. but still a difficult build. Great sounding units. Good price if you got the time and skills. MY next pair I'll have built.

The times I've recorded a banjo, I've used an SM57 > preamp > straight in.

Yes, I think so. I picked up a pair of the JENSEN JE123-s transformers for a pair of CAPI-GEAR 312 DI's. Just need to figure out the wiring. Probably need to contact Jeff.

I just picked up 12 - AUDIMUTE Sound Blankets. 96" tall, grommets, packaged, clean like new. Don't really need them for sound control, but for 10 dollars apiece, I could't pass them up.

There's 50 Tube Traps in this Control Room. Upper corners 9 inch rounds. Ceiling half rounds, and front Attack Wall with dual subs. Turning a live tile area into a well balanced listening area.

Were the holes tuned or just random! Did you test 100% filled vs not or why the empty space inside? These were modeled after the ASC INTER-THERMAL Tube Traps. (look-up ) Holes were drilled in an alternating pattern. NO, Any Real Tube Traps were never completely filled in the center.

I've built 2 of these in kit form. One of the hardest builds I've ever built. 12 PCBs AND OVER 700 PARTS PER UNIT. OTHERWISE GREAT PREs, EQs and value.

My Harrison MR-4 was purchased new. With sealed bourns pots, all gold contacts, P & G faders, LED Meters, 24 buss, socketed IC's and pots, and built in patchbay.
Made in the U.S.A. with all quality parts.
It was 60K in 1981, and it is still in service 42 years later and will continue to be.
Let alone the MR-3 that is still kicken it.
All though I don't see a patchbay, and only 8 buss,
If the new console is built to those standards, it could be a good long term investment.

I already own 4 Harrison consoles. At $90K, I'll keep my hand wired Harrison MR-3. with the built in patchbay. The MR-3 is in the same league sound wise as the original MR-2. I already have enough converters. And when and if I find the space and $ I have dibs on the Raven 😁 Think Flyht Tyne West will buy one and return to the Harrison Family? The Raven is in the storage room. Just let me know when.

Bought this Alembic Bass a while back but never really played it. The strings were a heavy gauge and the action was too high for my liking. I decided to have it plexed and set up with light gauge Alembic bass strings. 13th Street Guitars in Huntington Beach, Ca. is the only flex station in SoCal. I told them " Set them up as low as they go" When I got it back, I fell in love with this bass. Light touch action with no buzz or rattle all the way up the neck. Im hooked, I'm going to take my Custom 2-1/2 octave Alembic Bass in next.

It really depend on the bass and the song. Too many options for a favorite. This rack was put together mainly for bass, either DI or Miked. Neve type EQ if needed. Other options DI into 1073 or 1084, CapI 312 DI, SVT amp Balanced out and miked. Whatever fits the song.
