I just saw the TV show 60 Minutes and it showed the smartest dog in the world was a border collie. If you work with him you might get him to be the studio gofer.

I paid for my 2 bodies 15 months ago. From the number he said he was picking up, I was wondering if there would be enough to fill the first paid orders let alone the waiting list. I'd look at other options.

Winetree - possible to acquire something like that, today?
I know at the time they were expensive, so I was able to borrow them from the college library. Maybe a Google search would find something.

I was. A water pipe in the ceiling broke and water ran through both machines for 2 days and flooded the studio. Just got them back from my tech that was able to bring them back to life, with some new parts and some rebuilding, and they are now, totally up to spec Lucky insurance covered everything. It'll probably be till the first of the year to rebuild and replace drywall. Hope to be spinnin tape by then.

When I taught College, Acoustics and Intermediate Recording Techiques, I used a 5 C.D. set of audio listening examples, including tones, time delay, flanging, chorusing, Doppler, Hass, phantom tones and various other examples. Students listened and after a while they were asked to identify them. I felt these were the basic building blocks of acoustics and engineering.

www.diyribbonmic.com/This is the first ribbon mic I built of many. It's not as easy as the one above. Pre-cut solid brass body body. I had to build the motor, Cut, rib and tension the ribbon, form the grills, etc. I sure learned alot about ribbon mics. Listen to the sound samples. Sounds great.

In my experience there is no "give some number setting" that works for all different tracks. You have to listen to the track and know what it needs to sit in the mix the way you want it to. Yes this takes the know how of what the controls of the compressor do and how they effect the signal. This takes time and experience. Learning and listening will get you the settings.

+1 Tony, All 8 of my racks are 51X (18 pin) and when I move modules from room to room it's a pain. I have to make sure the edge connector is at the very top of the connector before pushing it in. There was talk, at one time, of a 3 pin dummy card that would be placed in the bottom 3 pin connectors to stop the misaligned shorting out, but that never happened. My Kepex rack has the plastic top and bottom guides, makes it a lot easier. When I built my first 51X rack I wondered why they weren't there.

Ever since the FCC ruled that the commercials can't be louder that the loudest part of the program material, all the voice only programs, (news, sports, weather, etc.) have the announcers mics so loud they actually distort. You hear every lip smack, saliva swallow, and teeth chatter. There's one fritzie weather man I can't stand to listen too. I have to mute the volume. Do they think we're deaf or don't have a volume control?

This series retains the complete original transformer-coupled discrete audio path of the A, D or F revisions while using the precision Gain Reduction Control Amplifier and Meter Driver circuit from later revisions. No op amps - discrete or otherwise - are employed in the audio path, nor any amplifier circuits borrowed from other famous makes.

You'll like them. I've got 4 of them, 2 with the variable output mod. They have a sound of their own.
