I just posted about some new Senn mics above but you cant go wrong with either a E935 or E945. I would recommend try before buy to determine which is better for your voice. mc I've said it before and I'll say it again - Beyer M88TG. There we have it, it's settled. M88TG for everybody! Thanks, John.

Hi guys, I've managed to get a backing band together (finally) to go out and play some of my tunes. It's a great band - some real seasoned players - a couple of successful ex touring pro's. I'm feeling my SM58 is getting old hat .... (or maybe not?) I sound fab in the studio on a Wunder CM7. So what's a great live hand held mic that has that U47 quality to it - not too bright and nice forward mids. I see Sennheiser has a huge range, but I have absolutely no idea where to start. I'll probably eventually get a wireless version but to start with wired is OK. Someone recommended a Senny 945s? I have a bright tenor voice so nothing too bright - maybe the good old 58 is still the one? I also have an original silver head basket M88 from the 80's but it's too valuable to me to take out live. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I just posted about some new Senn mics above but you cant go wrong with either a E935 or E945. Another one bites the dust. Trod Nossel had been around a long time. I think they are still in biz as a publishing and content company.

It mentions this on the Golden age page but i dont see a limit/compress switch? "The main point of the video is to show the advantage of having the high frequency control on the front panel and the limit/compress switch function." I believe our IT dept used the video embed box for the 'Opto Comp' when inserting the demo video last night, I just went in and fixed that, thanks! figured. Glad to help! I'll take a discount code for a Golden 58 in exchange.

I'm curious why this is marketed towards condenser mics in all the copy - is the gain not sufficient for dynamics/ribbons? Dynamics and ribbons typically require more gain from a preamp, and each channel has a max of 56db. With that said though, if tracking a single vocal, you can daisy chain between the two channels and get plenty of gain that way. I was just testing a G58 with an SM7B this morning and WOW, it was the ticket! Can get some serious tube grit that way if you're looking for that sound as well.
I think we will update the product listing accordingly, because anything you put through these sounds amazing.
Cheers, Chris

Well.. This de-escalated quickly. An MOTU 16A Beyerdynamics M88 Some Isoacoustic stands And most importantly some velcro wire wraps. I've been using the 16a for a few years. Rock solid, no issues.

Then I'd humbly suggest they ditch the effort. Or choose another mic to revisit. An M49 without a AC701 is not an M49. They could use another tube and call it.....um....an M 149. Oh wait..... Yeah, the only thing I can think of is doing a Solid State “Decca mod “ reissue. My hunch is the AC701 is what keeps us from getting a solid confirmation. I think Neumann has heard the same stories we all have about large quantities, but when they go to make a deal they don’t exist. This, there are not enough AC701 tubes.

Lots of props in here for the 1176/LA2A combo and I have never really done that until recently, but now its my go to chain. My Cranesong trakker is jealous....

I was able to shoot out a couple mics thru it. Still using the headphone out as its not racked into the daw yet. SM7 sounds glorious, better than i have ever heard it. big and radio ready. U87 Rhodium (same circuit as an AI) sounded really smooth and full. it seemed to tame the highs which can be prominent with certain pres but this was just....smooth is the only way i can describe it. Surprisingly, my U67RI, which is usually my go to for vox, was very present, more airy and detailed than I have heard it thru other pres. I usually grab the 87 when the 67 is too dark for a dense track but this pre gave me the opposite impression. Interesting. KM84 was just as expected. smooth and warm with perfect, sweet top end. I only did voice tests so I'll have to try some acoustics as well as lay down some more tracks to hear it in a mix. This pre is super f'n clean and big. Reminds me of the earthworks 1024 ZDT I've had on loan for a while. That pre really let the mics do the work and was very 3d. This is very similar. I dont need more pres right now but down the road I will prolly grab one of these when i return the 1024 in order to fill that void. You've certainly piqued my curiosity! I really want to test one out soon. Message me your info and I'll have your local rep get one over to you.

Ive only had a chance to do a quicky DI check. It has a headphone out which i dont normally have a use for but in this case, i was able to just plug in a guitar and some HD for a quick try. Turns out it's one of the best direct sounds I have ever heard. I use a lot of D/I guitar, so it's not enough for me to want to buy it, but if the Mic pre sounds as good I may have to make it a Christmas present...

I had that issue with a Cranesong Trakker. It has some sort of massive heat sink in the back (not sure if that was the cause itself or not) but it was causing hum in a preamp above. Moving it away helped.

Hey all, here is some info. Yes, there will be a limited release. There is no release date yet and no pricing yet. There are a couple of prototypes out and about and you can catch Adele singing into one in an upcoming performance. Let me know any other questions. mc Do you know what tube is in it? Is it an AC701K? Thanks!!!! I am waiting on confirmation from Germany so I dont want to comment until I am sure. I wont get an answer until next week sometime.

I just picked up a Hyundai Tucson suv. Pretty nice with some bells and whistles. I was originally shopping for a Nissan Rogue as that was what i had b4 but the car market is whack right now so went for something a little cheaper.
