Kush has plugin versions of both. The Kush Hammer EQ is really good. It's my go-to for stuff that needs a more useful relationship between 600hz and everything above it before getting any other processing, it's my go-to when - after the mix has come together more - something need to be pushed toward this listener, and it's my go-to when I need beautiful top end. Got both plugins too. Cool post, thanks for the info, I agree on usage for other people's tracks. I take it you have the plugin and not the hardware?

I have 1U rack space free and this is not helping!!! 😅
One of the reasons I didn’t buy it is because the Hammer EQ high bands are really good. If I hadn’t had a hammer 😄 the Clariphonic would be mine already...

Try the plugin. It really does something unique. Although you could always set up a parallel equalizer (which is what this is), but this will get you there faster and nicer. I always wanted to add a hardware piece to my racks but other things took preference.

Another EU shoutout for www.curuxacustoms.com which happen to be a few km from me. I have one of their desks and it’s top notch.

A-Designs EM-PEQ is fantastic. Also check out a new company, Pope Audio from the UK. They make a two knob Baxandall EQ that sounds great on demos.

Huh, I thought I remember Fletcher stating a few times that he had a heavy influence in the design of the 1968. I agree it sounds nothing like the Manley. Fletcher had tremendous input but he also couldn't layout a PCB with a gun to his head. None of us could. He called Dave Hill who did all the actual circuit design & layout. More or less started with a clean sheet of paper... IIRC the conversation was like Dave, take this box throw everything away and when you come up with something that fits and sounds good send it over. I got one and I like it! It's the latest version, post-Mercenary. I have it parked on the drum buss, just because. But it could work on anything.

I had the original FaderPort and it never worked correctly for me in Logic. It was a nightmare of firmware updates and Presonus support was horrible to deal with. I swore off Presonus because of that. I got a Behringer X-Touch and it was pretty good. I now have the X-Touch One because the big one is being repaired (encoder scroll wheel started to fail). Having 8 VCA permanently on the X-Touch is really cool. If the firmware is correct, they all work the same, since they are emulating a Mackie Control. So, please report about the FP16 and Logic if you decide to get it ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Well, it's here and I love it! It's impossible to make it sound bad. It can be clean, it can be colored. It can be gentle, it can be aggressive. The slight high-mid/high lift is perfect for most sources, even for treble instruments like mandolin. If I had 24, I'd use it on every track. The Weight Tank is very complementary with its hefty, low/low-mid emphasis. It's a total honeymoon review but I have no doubts about this being the perfect vocal compressor for me.

I'm using the Drawmer MC2.1, it sounds really good and has good functionality, but the main pot gets scratchy after a while and you have to replace it. It's the Achilles heel of an otherwise stellar monitor controller. Same here. I got my first replacement sent for free from Drawmer. Very easy to install. I still love it!

Finally got a few minutes to try the SSL bus compressor. I like it!!!
It does seem to be calibrated with an expectation of hot ITB signals. Compared to my hardware, it looks like the plugin is 0VU = -14 dBFS.

The 1GB download is a bummer, thanks for the heads up! I now have three options for ITB SSL Comp: "old DSP" SSL, Slate (which has an extra transformer added) and Townhouse (which is not an exact clone either). If none of those does it for me on a particular mix, I don't think any other will...

I just had to buy it. I really wanted the native SSL Bus Comp!
We just have this done by 20 other different companies in both domains...
I know. But the ones I have (Slate and Townhouse) can’t compare to my hardware unit (TK Audio). And I like the design! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Also, based on my experience with Console 1, I know that SSL doesn’t put its name on anything that’s not worthy of it. That’s my opinion, etc

I am going to add another 8 channels of I/O to my RME Fireface 802 via ADAT and I have a couple questions. -Is optical cable length a concern? I would like to run a 5 meter cable (around 16 feet) if possible. -Is sync over ADAT a concern? RME support says that if audio is fine, that means sync is fine too. With my current setup I am clocking the external ADAT preamp with a BNC cable, just out of superstition. I don't want to clock all the units with BNC because one of them has a fixed termination and with the respective positions of the units in the room it would be a lot of cable. Unless there's a way to daisy chain the wordclock even if that unit has a termination, but it's all above my pay grade... ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

I might be able to score one of these and send it to Stewart. It’s been displayed as decoration at a bar, so who knows what shape it’s in.
What kind of connector did they come with? If it’s XLR I could at least test it before I buy.

The Weight Tank is fantastic and so is service from Eric. I'm ordering a 14B this month. And if I had the rack space for it, the WT-72 would come along too!

Fabfilter Pro L2 has a button "1:1" that lets you hear the limited and not limited at the same volume. You really have to go nuts to cause artifacts. Or maybe I'm going deaf...

I solved that specific tuner need with a TC clip-on tuner. Otherwise, the Fulltone works great. Thought about that too. So the TC is reliable then? Very much. I got the PolyTune clip but usually use it in regular mono mode. I have two of them and they’ve been great for guitars, mandolin, banjo, you name it.

I bought a Boss RDD-20 Micro Rack digital delay. Not even sure why! It does look cool and it looks like a useful toy. We’ll see...

I'm in a similar position. I'm all ITB except for the 2-buss, where I have the AudioScape Buss Compressor in an otherwise virtual gear chain. So I'm looking for something to complement it functionally and give me a few more color options. The Silver Bullet seems like overkill; I don't need all that functionality. I was actually thinking of getting another compressor like the Manley Vari Mu, but that might be a bit out of my price range at the moment. Sitting tight for now and following threads like this. My flagship piece in the 2-buss is the Black Box Analog HG-2. It's on from the very first minute of mixing.

Depending on your preferred styles of music, having an SSL style comp is mandatory in my opinion. I have the one by TK Audio and I love it. That doesn’t preclude having other comp flavors, of course. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) For a stereo EQ, the A-designs Hammer ticks all the boxes for me.
