I've use the CU-29 copperhead a few times. It's a nice mic actually. But I don't think you can get it anymore now that the TF series is out. That was my favorite mic of the series.

I'm no longer gigging out and always feel self conscious playing thru an amp in my current setting. What I have now is going out the door, flipped, namely a pair of Vox amps, an AC-15C1 and a baby AC4TV. As soon as any store in my area of Switzerland has one in, an Iridium will be the thing.

I went into the pick rabbit hole very far this year. I have about a hundred different choices now. Got to get a Blue Chip, I have some similar offerings but it’s on my list. The best “normal” pick I found is the Fender Tortuga, followed by the Dunlop Ultex. I also bought a bunch of Charmed Life picks which are made of casein and fabricated with9 a base of milk protein to kind of mimic the animal protein of a tortoise shell. Scott Memmer who makes them is a solid fellow and gives something like a 35 day money back guarantee if you don't like them. Cool bones indeed.

Used picks? I never knew! At $35 to $75 for their super thick 2.5mm offering, some folks try them and decide they don't like them or wish to trade one in for a different shape. People usually sell the less thick for $30 so one can save a couple bucks. They can also be engraved on the back side foe an additional 5 bucks to personalize. Both mine that I bought direct are. Also, since these don't come cheap, not disposable and most likely will become valued tools, there is sone upkeep needed on them to extend their working life. When over time the tip blunts from friction running up against the strings, filing, sanding and buffing are needed to keep them going strong for years of use. The little extra time spent into making sure the bevel (I like what is called a speed beve) is still viable in relation to the tip is well worth it and a nice skill to add to the life list.

JohnKenn messed me up a year or so ago by saying that a thin pick gives a thin sound. I had for maybe 40 years been exclusively using. 60mm orange Tortex on both acoustic and electric but began experimenting with both brands and thickness and fell into the rabbit hole of exploration, trying everything under the sun. I have now settled on this 1.5mm BlueChip as the end all and my personal favorite to use on acoustic guitar. I had bought a 1mm BlueChip 40 and dug it, lived with it for around 9 months and just bought this 60 used off of a nice fellow on UMGF (The Unofficial Martin Guitar Forum). For me it helps me dial in fantastic tone on all my instruments. I needed to file, sand and polish the tip as it blunted a tiny bit from the fellow I copped it from's time with it, and I have just ordered a shiny new one as a backup from the company. These are great picks that have no drag on the strings at all. They just flow over the strings without any clack. I'm in love with my car, got a feel for my automobile. Thanks JohnKenn!!!

Atom smasher. Particle accelerators can take a particle, such as an electron, speed it up to near the speed of light, collide it with an atom and thereby discover its internal parts.

I only record barbershop quartets, and always with just one microphone, but imagine it from a drummer sitting in the audience's perspective.

I've wanted a nice Eliot capo and finally got one, the 16" inch radius version to work with my Martin's and Roy Noble.

Usually the M930 is pointed at my guitar and the UMT70S aimed at my head. They go together well because they seem to compliment each other's soft spots.

Actually, the "T" version is TransformerLESS. Gefell is so confusing.... And to confuse any and all ever more, the Ts in this case means it has a transformer. Thank you Microtec Gefell. The m930Ts is larger and about a grand more expensive than it diminutive little sister.

Dr. Bill's drum mic thread on another site is what sold me on the 692's so I bought some with M71 and M70 caps. Love 'em. Also, love my newer M930's as well. Can't go wrong with the Gefells. Thanks, Dr. Bill! The Gefell M-930 is stunning. And it seems to be largely unknown. A long-time fave of mine for sure. -09 I've an M930 and love it to pieces.

The key point which they will most certainly lose is on what JohnEpstein just mentioned, namely that Gibson has not dealt with what they consider infringement on the shapes they claim to have rights on. There is precedent for this bit, and for that reason they can throw as much money as they wish on any lawsuits that they initiate, continue spitting blood, eminate negative vibes pissing off reasonably minded people and not try to capture a new audience with fresh ideas in the hope of conquering the market through intimidation...which in the end will contribute to the big lose. They will become a casualty in the war of their own making. Sad.

Me: Hey Neil, can you look and tell if there is something wrong with it. Does it look to you the way we were discussing it? Him: It is within our tolerances. Me: But we were not talking about tolerances--we were talking about how everything fits. Him: It fits all right. Me: Well... it goes inside, but we were talking about the shape of the perimeter and the foam fitting the box with no gaps... Him: It is within our tolerances. Me: So what is your our tolerances? Him: 1/8" Me: But can you see--here is the gap of some 1/4" and on the other side at least 1/8". Together it gives 3/8", which is way out your tolerances. Him: That's the best we can do. Him: Sorry, that's the best we can do. Him: It looks all right and is within our tolerances. I won't make any changes. Isn't there a lyric; I can surely call you out as A liar and a thief Contribute you, of worldy of woe Your's, the truth in sound defeat I guess now there is.

Yea, my first thought that without the entire package; the writers writing, the players interpretations of those songs, the room and those amazing voices, that entire vibe of the sum greater than the parts, that although it might be a fun exercise gathering together these nice folks in this project, there is no way to make anyone with a critical ear believe that they are hearing period recordings. The secret sauce was that time in history that fostered the Muse which created perhaps the best western music ever had to offer in such quantity and quality...rock n roll, country and jazz included.

I cleaned up all the oxidation and pitting on the metal, threw in two fresh 9 volts, a set of 11's and wham, what a nice guitar. It is a 1982 Westone Thunder 3 and thanks in equal measure to the neck through design and hot pickups, this girl can sing and play. The first five frets are overworn and need be swapped out, the fugly non-original knobs replaced and perhaps I'll bring on new switches and of course clean up the pots. She sustains for days and has with the active eq and gain about 38dB of boost (hence the two 9 volts). Running without all that she also sounds great in passive mode, all that juicejyst puts her over the top when driving hard an amp and cabinet. For the couple of hundred buck I bought it for and a couple hundred more, I have another great electric guitfiddle. Body - Canadian Ash, Hard Maple and Walnut Neck - through neck, Hard Maple and Walnut 5 piece laminate Ebony fingerboard, brass nut. 25.5 inch scale, 24 frets Steel tailpiece and bridge with brass saddles Metal backplates (Presumably like those on the Thunder II and III basses - anodised aluminium, not brass) 2 Magnet-F530G pickups Controls - Master volume, tone, equalizer volume: coil tap, phase and active EQ switches, 3 way pickup selector Active EQ is + or - 25 db with a centre zero position, gain is adjustable up to 13db. Available in Walnut and Sunset Red Optionally available with an XLR connector instead of the more usual jack socket. Script logo on headstock

My old friend Rick Iantosca (RIP), although having Sly Dunbar in the throne, used programmed drums on Jimmy Cliff's Grammy winning Cliff Hanger in 1986. I think that that was the first Reggae album to used a machine.

I haven't ever to my memory posted negatively about any subject that has come up on the forum, but feel my bile rising after reading the quote that Quint posted concerning the the Stam offer, which reads..."...a 50% discount on ANY FUTURE ORDER from Stam Audio" (capitalization mine) . The comeback of "We certainly did not plan to have a client show up 5 years down the line to claim a 50% off" is not even close to cool by any stretch of the imagination. You created the open ended invitation but now seem unwilling to put those words into action. Your word is your honor and no amount of back peddling about intent can change the defined offer that you originally offered. Your words were explicit, susinct and simple. It wasn't a misprint. You need to honor your offer because and only because you were the one that left it completely open ended. Mean what you say and say what you mean,do it clean or those around you will vent their spleen.

I would use mic 1 on the guitar and mic 2 on the vocal. Overall, I like the warmth of the Heiserman and it would be my first choice.
